Arthur was raised in a small family with two older brothers. His parents were both members of prominent pure-blood families — his mother a Black and his father a Weasley — but his mother was cut off from her family after marrying his father, a known blood traitor. His parents raised him to be fair, balanced, and kind. They taught him not to discriminate against any kind of person, whether it be pure-blood, muggle-born or anything in between. He was always a relatively shy and quiet boy, and he’s still convinced that the only reason he got placed in Gryffindor was because “all Weasleys are Gryffindors”, according to his father.
He never had very many friends at Hogwarts, as he was always quite awkward when it came to interacting with others and preferred to quietly stick to his studies. All of that changed when he met and started dating Molly Prewett. She helped him come out of his shell, and he even became good friends with her brothers. He was totally head over heels for Molly, convinced that she was the one he was going to marry. His whole world changed when she stepped into it, and it came crumbling down the moment she stepped out of it.
He didn’t think it was possible to experience the level of pain he felt when Molly broke up with him. He was completely devastated, and a sadness and depression washed over him. The last half of his fourth year was the worst — he barely attended classes, all of his grades dropped, he wasn’t talking to the few friends he had. He didn’t know how to cope with losing her. During his fifth year, though, he saw a flicker of hope as Molly came back to him. The two of them have been quietly “dating” since the beginning of their fifth year, but they haven’t told anyone else about it. In an attempt to get Molly to fully take him back, he gave her a promise ring and told her that he would marry her if it’s the last thing he ever did. It still hasn’t worked, but he’s confident she will take him back by the end of the year.
