There was an underlying sadness that radiated from Gale, and Delly bit on her bottom lip. If there was someone who should never feel sad, it was him. The soldier was beyond wonderful, and she had known him for so many years, watching both him and his best friend walk down the halls at their school or in town. She knew he was an expert hunter and had taken care of his family for all those years, and he really cared about the people he loved in a way that she thought was admirable. He had always been a hero to Delly, long before he saved her from the bombs in 12.
"I’d love that! And I’m sure he will too. He hasn’t talked to a lot of people since…" Delly trailed off, not wanting to bring up the dead of her parents now. Besides, they were the lucky ones. Still alive and breathing. She should be grateful and so should her little brother. "And Posy’s so sweet!"
"They are about same age, are they not?" He never really knew Delly. Just that she was Katniss's age, and that she was one of nicest people he ever laid his eyes on. Always smiling. And it wasn't because she was supposed to, but because she was all that. Nice, bubbly, kind. It was a rarity in this world. "Posy's almost 5 now. I could bring her over sometime, or you can bring her brother to mine. Mom wont mind. Rory and Vick had their duties already, so it was only Posy nowadays.
Child Meme: Ask me anything as my child. Go to my ask box and rip out my heart in any and every way possible. I dare you.
Finnick, the handsome bronze-haired guy from District 4 who was crowned ten years ago at the age of fourteen. A hysterical young woman with flowing brown hair is also called from 4, but she’s quickly replaced by a volunteer, an eighty-year-old woman who needs a cane to walk to the stage.
"I really am," she was quick to agree as she looked up at him. She couldn’t believe the Gale was actually talking to her. Yes, he’d saved her and her brother, but that was just who he was. A hero. She didn’t think someone as amazing would really notice her now though. But he did! “He’s getting better…”
"I'm glad that you feel that way." Everyone was grateful to him, but-- It wasn't something he thought was accurate. He wasn't a hero, but a failure. "If you want, he could play with Posy. She's..." Sort of like you. "Maybe she'll be good influence on him."
"Fine! No, great! I think the people are really nice here."
Of course she thought that. She was like-- Well, sunshine. "I am glad that at least someone enjoys this place. How's your brother doing?"
Ask if you wish.
"How're you handling 13?"

She beamed at him, the way she only would with him and dug in her bag. “I brought some goat cheese, too.”
Gale’s smile widened at the cheese, and he pulled out two buns. They were still warm. “Like old times?”
"Like old times," she agreed, taking one of the buns gratefully as she split the cheese in half and handed it over to him. Like she always used to do, she inhaled the fresh aroma of the newly baked bun first, a contented sigh escaping her.
Chuckling, Gale took a bite of bread, closing his eyes. It was melting, literally. Splitting it in half, he placed the cheese in between two parts and added a few leaves of basil, before handing over the small bag with it to Katniss.

She chuckled as well, a blush rising to her cheeks but she ignored it in favor of gently hitting his arm. Katniss didn’t move out of his embrace though as she looked up at him with a smile, “Funny. Does this mean you don’t like the bow?”
"No, I don't like the bow. I love the bow." Gale, you brat. Chuckling, he placed a kiss to her head, squishing her frame for a second teasingly. Then, he let go of her, still with a persistent smile.
