I had some “thoughts” about the season 3 ending. Spoilers!
I got most of these ideas from other posts across different social media posts.
Antony entering the book shop and taking off his dark sunglasses…….
When Asa offers Antony his own book at half price, Antony says, “you have no idea how much that hurts me”, Crowley letting Aziraphale know that it’s him, maybe? Asa saying “Did say something wrong?” mirroring Crowley’s same question when he told Aziraphale what he really wanted.
You can see Asa wearing a gold pinky ring and it’s visible when he’s holding Antony’s book. It doesn’t appear to be the SAME ring, but it IS a gold pinky ring. It also APPEARS that when Antony was paying for the book written by Eddington, he ALMOST said “Angel”, but stopped himself. Even Crowley’s name right down to the middle initial is the same one he chose for himself as a demon.
When Asa chases down Antony to get his autograph and ask him out, there is a mural on the wall behind showing an angel/demon with a bow and arrow aiming at a heart with wings. There are also multiple halos and what looks like planets and stars and what looks like possibly an alien.
My favorite one is, before Az and Crowley made their choice. Crowley questions God about her being the one to decide when it all ends and she smiles and says she’ll let THEM choose, emphasizing that they will make ONE decision (does that mean that she reserved the right to make any others pertaining to THEIRS? And then God gave them their privacy recreating a little of the Garden complete with the apple tree. While Aziraphale and Crowley were discussing what they wanted, She and Satan were talking in private, themselves. The only part of THAT conversation we heard was Satan saying, “So he says let’s not, and say we DID” and God smiling and nodding in agreement. When Crowley told Aziraphale what he wanted, Aziraphale turned away and closed his eyes as if in prayer. Was he silently asking her for something? After THAT, Aziraphale and Crowley appeared holding hands. Did they already know what Aziraphale and Crowley were going to choose? I think so because “God is omnipotent”, right? She knew all along that Aziraphale lied to her, she seemed a little proud about it too. It seems like Satan and God were going to give them a little help. Why? She already said that their love story made her smile. That they were no longer angel, and demon was Satan having a little fun knowing they weren’t going to live forever. She, I believe, let them retain just enough knowledge of their former selves that they would find each other in ANY universe (including the pocket universes). This kind of manipulation and the side deals are just what God would do in the GO universe. God DOES play games with the universe.
In the scene where they are on their date, the camera closes in on the portrait of STP and zooms into the glass with a miniature cottage that turns into their South Downs cottage scene 20 years later( I just really liked that bit).
In the final scene of the two of them star gazing in their garden in the South Downs, there is the crystal ball with the book shop and Bentley inside…….
“I have everything I ever wanted.”
