What is a date night with you like?
Admittedly, I have not had a long term partner in…well, more time than I would care to admit, but when I decide to woo someone and the interest is mutual…
If I am the one who is in charge of said date, a date with me is quite…personal to the person I am wooing.
I may be a little out of touch, at times, but I am a thoughtful, considerate man.
I try to plan such a venture around an interest of the person I am taking out, even better if that involves my learning or experiencing something new, which I always enjoy, as I can hear the other person speaking about something they greatly enjoy.
I pay close attention to the interests and desires of others I am drawn to.
I apologise for not giving specifics, but as I said, a date with me is a personalised.

What do you understand of what Florian teaches?
Anthropology, if I recall, which is the scientific study of humanity. I am sure he has a more specific specialization, but I am, at present unaware of what that is.
I am no expert in that field other than what I have witnessed of the human experience as much as I am able to observe. I’d be most glad to hear him speak about it and learn what he is obviously passionate about…
Now that I think about it, what a perfect subject for a Vampire. We are long lived and that’s perfect for studying humanity.
And perhaps other Vampires, so long as he is careful.

It is pretty neat how it lined up. Being a vampire, getting to experience history and watch people evolve and grow. Watch Vampires evolve and grow too.

Angelus had Hektor wrap up the errands rather quickly so that they had enough time to get to the small port of Amoudi Bay where the ferry would be docking. He had requested to accompany the man because he wasn’t exactly sure when Florian would arrive, given various factors with transportation like trains and ferries. When they arrived, Angelus exited the car and made his way to the slip. As he walked, local passersby greeted him politely, and he smiled and greeted them back. (Tourists usually gawked, but he ignored them until they spoke to him directly.) Once he reached his destination, he sat one of the large rocks there, waiting patiently as he listened for the telltale sound of a motor and water splashing against the sides of the boat.
When he heard it approaching, he stood up and grinned, clearly excited for Florian’s arrival. The pale, tall ancient was known to locals, but it didn’t prevent him from standing out like a sore thumb among the others that were waiting
[voice message] I'm going to be there soon so I'll keep an eye out. As for daylight? ... I dunno. I always kind of assumed it was a no-go so I've never once tried to test it.

As the boat pulled up, Florian grabbed his stuff and hopped off the boat. It was super easy to find Angelus - of course it was. He did rather stand out. Not just because of his looks but his aura too. There was just something about him. Florian assumed he did not have any kind of aura so he called out loudly to alert Angelus.
"Hey! Angelus! It's me, Flo. Good to see you again!"
At the sound of Florian’s voice, Angelus’ grin grew even larger. He carefully and confidently walked to him, the few people around him getting out of his way as he approached the other man.
“Hello, Florian,” he said, holding is hands out to the other. He’d have to ask if he preferred Florian or Flo. “I am happy that you are here.”
“I listened to your last voice messages just before getting out here. We can speak about that when we are not in mixed company. Hektor has the car waiting for us. Did you need assistance with your bags?“
"Nah, I got it." Florian didn't really have much, he packed light for the benefit of easy travel. He didn't like messing around with luggage, even if vampirism had given him a considerably better core and muscle strength. Somehow. He wasn't entirely sure why he was feeling the best he ever felt since he died but he supposed that was just a fun little perk.
"Thanks again for picking me up." He looked at Angelus and took in the sight of him, up close and personal, unable to believe a guy like that invited him somewhere this beautiful.
Maybe he should be on alert. It could be a trap. They were vampires - maybe they should be more devious or something? He wasn't sure. "I can't wait to see the place. Like I said, I'm used to apartment city living, much less beautiful."

Subject: Vampire questions
Dear Daniel Molloy,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to you to enquire over some vampire 'lore' that I am curious over.
For example, in your book, you did not mention that Louis turned into a bat at any point. Is that a thing that happens? Similar to the Dracula books where he becomes a bat or a wolf.
My second question is about the vampires genus. Are their many different species? How do we differentiate? For example, do they have latin names already? Like Vampyrus vampyrus or Vampyrus feralis? I remember only two kinds of vampires from the book, of course, hence the examples
Further more, is there a way to track or trace your sire?

Took a while to think of something more informative here than a virtual shrug.
No, Louis did not turn into a bat. He wore the cape, which was a choice. If he could have turned into a bat, he probably would have. I have never seen it happen with anyone.
You seem to know more about genus names and about Latin than I do. I have a source on the Latin, not sure about the genus names. I think there are a couple more types of vampires. I've encountered a few, heard stories about even more. Difficult to distinguish fact from fiction though, I prefer primary sources.
My maker has always been diligent about tracking me. Never tried it the other way round.
Are you doing research for a book? Because I so do not have clearance to publish another one.

I'm not writing a book, I'm actually a new vampire trying to understand some things about the world and how we work.
For example, while the vampires discussed in your book don't turn into bats ... I unfortunate do. It happened once. It was quite terrifying. I'm not sure how I did it either.
After being turned Transylvania, I did joke that Dracula may have turned me but now I'm genuinely concerned this is true! I have more in common with that work of fiction than the non fiction.
Do you have any experience with other vampires similar to this?
Where do I go for further research?

Wow.
Sorry, that's not a very professional response to that. I never met anyone who thought Dracula was real or any vampire who could do... any of that. Can you turn into a wolf too? Into mist? Been a while since I cracked open the old Bram Stoker.
Further research, I don't know. I could ask around, there's vampires much more informed than I am. If you don't mind, maybe I could hit up Louis? If you recall from my book, he travelled specifically to those areas to find traces of vampires a century or two back.

I haven't tried turning into a wolf. I don't have much control over it. I can be a bat, I know that but turning into a bat was entirely accidental. I will have to discover if I am able to do it on command, I suppose.

That is a very singular way of thinking, faceless one. I don’t hide it to trick my way into anyone’s heart. I hide it to protect myself from being captured and killed.
Or perhaps studied and put on display like some animal.
The right person could love me just as I am.
That is always my hope.
Despite my monstrous form and occasional nature, I am not malicious unless the situation calls for it.

I see protective, I see strength and control. I see someone who always tries to do the right thing and not his instinct. We've not known each other for so long and maybe I am a bit naive but to me, you're someone I don't just deeply admire but respect as well.

I am…very controlled at all times, but sometimes I lose it…as illustrated by my reaction to these faceless things. Occasionally, it is hard to maintain my composure when I reach a point where my body is tired of constantly keeping up a glamour. Usually, I use my release of that control a bit more productively, like going to kill something large in the wilderness.
I do always try to do the right thing. Of course, I did not used to. I used to not care at all. But that was so long ago, and I have much I wish and hope for.
If you think you are naive, then I am doubly so. Here I am having just met you, and I’m already fiercely protective of you.
I will endeavour not to let the idiots antagonize me as much in the future.

I've never been in love before. I never really dated either. I guess I was looking but I was never really in the scene. It's hard to meet people when you never go out! Being a vampire has helped a lot, it made me much better at approaching people. Weirdly.
