So, there's a black whump event coming up, and I am SO EXCITED!! :DDDD
I've been currently fixated on AoT, so it'll be a good event to focus on Onyankopon and the Okapi Titan(since in my AU she was black(and I will be giving her a proper name I just haven't thought of one yet;;;;))
The event is Black-Whump-Blues if any of ya'll were interested!
Somewhat canon compliant with Parasites AU + Annie's crystal failed long before The Rumbling
Annie awoke with a gasp, her heart raced as her eyes frantically searched the darkened room. She grit her teeth, pulling her limbs, only to find them tightly bound. Her clothes had been stripped away, a cold, metal table pressing against her bare skin. A lantern flicked on somewhere in the darkness, Annie's eyes focused on it, she steeled her face as she stared at her captor.
Hange.
They stared at her for a moment, unusually stoic. Walking forwards, they wordlessly lit up lanterns around the room, revealing an array of sharp, metallic implements.
Tools for torture.
For surgery.
For punishing traitorous criminals- Like Annie.
Hange pulled a scalpel off the wall, examining it carefully in the low light. Annie's eyes followed them, both anxious for what they were planning to do, and for a lack of anything else to look at.
"You really caused us a lot of trouble, you know." Hange broke the silence suddenly. Their demeanor didn't change, but Annie couldn't really blame them for being pissed. "Discounting all the death you caused-" They suddenly stabbed the scalpel into a lemon, before carefully cutting away the rind. "That whole crystal act just served to really… frustrate me. Well, no more crystal." They popped a slice of lemon into their mouth, showing no reaction to its sour taste. "So now we can finally get down to business then."
As soon as you break my skin. Annie thought. I am going to transform and crush you, like the bug you are. She kept her face stoic, she refused to give Hange the satisfaction.
"I wonder how much skin I can cut away before you pass out from the pain?" Hange thought idly as they cleaned the scalpel. They carefully brushed the skin of Annie's arm, clearing the site of any dirt of bacteria.
Not that it mattered. Annie thought. The Female Titan won't let her get sick.
She grit her teeth, biting down on the leather gag as the scalpel cut into her flesh. Her heart raced, and to her terror, the Femal Titan didn't respond. There was no rush of energy, no generation of the fifteen meter titan.
Nothing.
In the darkness, just out of the reach of the light, Marco was standing there. He stared at Annie with his one, rotted eye. Somehow, she knew he was interfering. She would not be able to transform while he was near. His revenant was more powerful than her titan, and it choked her out like mud thrown onto a fire.
Blood oozed from the incision along her arm, steam gently rose from the cut, but the skin wasn't growing back fast enough to stop Hange from pulling it away. They carefully cut away at underlying structures, cutting up chunks and then pulling them away. The pain was unreal, Annie wasn't even sure she was really there any more. She simply stared at Marco, listening to the moist thumps of her own skin dropping into a metal pan.
Her breath quickened as the scalpel traced from her arm to her chest. It cut under each breast, then down the middle of her stomach. Tears gathered in her eyes against her will, they flowed down her face, her heart could only helplessly thrash in her chest. She kept her flayed arm as still as possible, any movement feeling like hell itself had crawled onto her skin. There was a snip, and a quick spurt of blood. Her breath hitched, heart shivering.
"Oops." Hange said, sounding like they were tempted to chuckle. "Impromptu mastectomy I guess. Aw well, yours grow back anyway."
A larger mass was dropped onto the pan. Annie gurgled, reaching the limit of what her mind could handle. Her eyes rolled up.
"Aw come on." Hange groaned. "I haven't even gotten to the peritoneum yet…"
when a tv show doesn't shy away from portraying fucked up themes, and there's love in the violence and the characters are doomed and codependent and there's a power imbalance and the cycle keeps repeating and they're miserable with and without each other and also they’re gay
How do I explain that my rape & kidnapping kinks largely derive from a deep insecurity that people only pretend to want me around out of socially obligated politeness or pity. That every relationship might just be a kind farce, that maybe I’m just a chore to keep around, or a charity project, and I’ll never know for sure.
It’s the idea that someone could, in such an overwhelming way, desire me. So much so that they’d break social, moral, and literal law to have me. It doesn’t matter how much I protest— they won’t be deterred. This is purely for them, not me. It’s an expression of Want so raw and ugly and selfish that it leaves no room in my mind for doubt, and all I can think is, “Huh. They’re not pretending.”
i think “this character has suffered their whole life, so their happy ending is dying and going to heaven 😌” is my least favorite trope right now. stop portraying death as a liberation from suffering, STOP being so fucking christian. being alive is awesome. the bad parts give way to joy and that joy is worth everything. fight for the next bit of joy and then the next and the next, and one day i promise the pain will be behind you for good. you don’t have to die
Marco shivered as Lara ran a hand through his hair. He curled onto himself, shutting his eyes tightly. It's been almost a month and the fever simply had not let up even a little bit. She continued running her hand through his hair, humming to herself as he rested. When Fine was infected, the parasite didn't take nearly this long to get settled into the body.
She was worried for him.
The prolonged battle was difficult for both host and parasite, and if it kept on, Marco's health would suffer drastically. While the parasite was strong, it couldn't fight forever. If the body didn't give up, it would die. And considering how far it's spread, Marco would die not too long after.
Deep breaths.
She wouldn't let that happen. Marley had made many advancements in medicine since the days of her mother and father. They had treatments for parasite rejection syndrome. While they didn't have the exact medications in the manor, they did have some over-the-counter treatments that could ease the symptoms.
She took a very brisk pace as she walked into the kitchen and searched through the medicine cabinet. There was a brief burst of panic when it took too long to find it, but relief came back as she grasped the bottle in her hand.
"Marco's not doing so well, I guess?" Willy walked up behind her.
"I think it's Parasite Rejection Syndrome." That was all she needed to say, Willy went pale upon those words leaving her mouth.
"I see." He sucked in a breath, running a hand through his hair. "I'll send for a doctor tomorrow. I know of one who is very discrete."
The sun beat down on him, Grisha could only continue to cling to the bit of driftwood he found after treading water for days. He groaned when something poked his back. Some energy found him when something began to frantically pull him. He gripped at the driftwood, not wishing to be submerged once more but found himself lifted into a tiny boat.
"Commander Siades, your orders?"
Grisha lifted his eyes to the person steering the tiny vessel. A bold insignia of wings was displayed proudly on their back.
"We need to get him back to Wall Maria for medical treatment immediately."
Grisha closed his eyes, allowing everything to fade back out.
…
Awakening with a groan, Grisha was almost surprised to find himself sitting on a soft bed. A man sat in a chair near him, he was wearing that jacket from what he'd thought had been a dream.
"Hello! My name is Keith Siades! I am commander of the Survey Corps, we found drifting around not too far outside our walls. What's your name, and where do you come from?"
Grisha blinked. Walls? Where in the world was he? The flood came too quickly for walls to have been built… "My name is Grisha Jaeger." His head and body ached, his skin still pruned from the prolonged exposure. "I… don't quite recall where I came from. Just… the flood."
"I see." The man, Siades, seemed rather disappointed. He rubbed his chin. "Do you perhaps know anything about the flood then? Our walls protected us from the rising water, but we have yet to understand where it all came from."
"There were storms." Grisha said, thinking through the haze of his exhaustion and dehydration. Siades handed him some water and he took it graciously, gulping it down like the most precious ambrosia. "Trailing stars fell from the sky, making them worse. The rain didn't stop, rivers overran their banks, walls of water consumed entire cities." He looked at his hands. "I was swept away from my family."
So, in my AU, Titan-Spirits prevent allergic reactions from occurring in their hosts. That’s why Reiner can devour fistfuls of shrimp while crying in the kitchen at 2am and be completely fine despite being fatally allergic to shellfish (to the point where that’s what ended up killing him in the first loop of the timeloop).
But the Titan-Spirits can also cause allergic reactions on purpose if they want to. And sometimes, they do want to.
Because they sense everything their hosts sense. What they see, what they hear, what they feel, what they smell, what they taste… the Titan-Spirits will have to experience it as well. And there are some things that they do NOT want to experience as a personal preference. The Warhammer Titan hates the texture of wool, for example (me too monarch). So it will do whatever it needs to in order to convince its host to not touch wool.
And because I love torturing Bertholdt, the Colossal Titan REALLY hates the taste and smell of mint. So in order to convince its host to not go near mint, much less put some in their mouth, it gives its host my allergy to mint 🤭 so the smell of mint burns and irritates Bertholdt’s nose, and eating mint doesn’t taste cool and refreshing like it did before the inheritance- it tastes like acid and it causes serious physical pain in the form of a burning sensation. And this would also happen to any other hosts of the Colossal Titan, as has been the case for the past 1800 years or so.
The Titan-Spirits also have sensations that they really enjoy, like how the Attack Titan likes leather and the Armored Titan likes metal. And they universally love the scent, taste, and texture of meats and eggs. So they give cravings to their hosts to make them seek out the things their Titan-Spirit likes :)
I know that H. titanus craves animal protein and causes its hosts to crave it too, but is there anything that they make their hosts avoid, other than things that are dangerous for their hosts themselves?
Ooo neat! :D
The parasite HATES anything that distorts the senses. It prefers to know what's going on around it at all times. While it will allow the host to receive pain killers and sedatives for the host's own sake, it does not appreciate the host consuming any mind-altering substances recreationally.
If they host attempts to consume a psychedelic substance, it will not only cause excruciating pain, but the parasite will also force the brain to fill with chemicals to cause anxiety and paranoia, and cause the worst trip of your life.
While weed isn't all that toxic to humans, H. Titanus HATES it. Turns out, THC is irritating to parasitic worms. 🤭 It probably won't know what it is the first time, but the second time, the parasite will fill the mouth, nose, and lungs with a horrific burning sensation. The more the host persists, the worse the pain will get.
Trust me, you cannot win against the human dendrogaster.
Another thing that isn't particularly toxic to humans that it hates is capsacin. Being a neurotoxin, it's incredibly irritating to H. Titanus, and can make the parasite panic. It will intensify the burning sensation and spread it to the entire face and G.I. tract, because it's hates it that much.
Since H. Titanus has full access to the body's functions, whenever the host consumes something it doesn't like it identifies the chemical structure of said substance and starts making anti bodies for it as well as training the liver to break it down more efficiently. Even with anti bodies, the reaction is more akin to being given anti venom.
The way that the parasite wields the immune system is more akin to a sniper than the gatling gun it normally is. x'D
Since you mentioned mint, it's not particularly toxic to humans or H. Titanus, but the strong aroma may be too much for shifters because of their highly developed sense of smell. While the parasite doesn't have a reaction to it, the taste will also be too much for them, like sucking on pure citric acid(not burning just too much mint). 😂
Fun fact, if you bring pure mint close to a titan shifter's face, their whiskers will angle away from it because the aroma is too much for their senses!
babe it's me i'm just covered in dirt and blood because i had to claw my way up into the light and crawl on my hands and knees back home to you stop screaming
