Inagaki doesn't know Stanxeno like I do
I will always respect Inagaki for creating and writing the beauty that is DR.STONE. But every time he does an interview, I swear it's like he forgets everything he has written for his characters. He either says stuff that is contradictory or just doesn't make any sense at all. Such as Stanley's lips "just looking like that," like, excuse me? What do you mean his lips are just naturally purple, and it's not lipstick? This makes no sense because we have literally SEEN him as a child, and his lips were not purple.
What makes Stanley such a cool character is not only that he is an incredible fighter, with god-tier sniping skills that he literally caused the second world-wide petrifaction because that was the only way to stop him, but also because of the fact that he wore lipstick! In any other show, he would have been an overly masculine character, but in DR.STONE, he has prominent feminine features! He is a badass with a pretty face, and that just makes him so much cooler!
Also, "Xeno did not tell Stanley about Senku before the petrification" is such a lie. Before Stanley pulled the trigger, he made it a point to ask Xeno if he was 100% sure. Why would he ask that if he didn't know the prior relationship these two had? Sure, Xeno could have told him when he found out the enemy scientists were Senku, but we aren't SHOWN that. It just makes way more sense that Stanley recognized the name BECAUSE Xeno talked about him!
Also, the whole "they are childhood friends but aren't that close" comment is straight-up BS. Over the course of the arc, we are shown time and again how much trust Xeno places in Stanley. He isn't the least bit concerned when he is taken prisoner, cause he TRUSTS Stanley is going to save him. He calls him his "ultimate knight" multiple times! You don't trust someone that much if you aren't close to them. He also has to hide his excitement when they bring up the idea of reviving Stanley, not to mention he made cigarettes (despite hating his smoking habit) to make Stanley happy.
AND WE ALL KNOW HOW MUCH STANLEY CARES FOR XENO. He has never been shown to have a desire to rule the world; he is only doing this FOR XENO. If Xeno wants to be the leader of the new world, he will make it happen. HE chased the Kos to the ends of the earth to get Xeno back. And then proceeded to sacrifice himself so that Xeno could keep pursuing science. And Inagaki wants us to believe they are just "not that close"
(I am not even going to discuss the whole "stan being more into women than Xeno is" because that just gives me a headache)
Again, respect the author, but no one mischaracterizes his characters more than him.
