Working through my drawings that I did on my honeymoon/family trip with my new in-laws in Maui, Hawai’i! This one comes from the wonderful Haleakala Creamery in Kula where we got to enjoy tasty goat milk ice cream and cheese, beautiful vistas and some equally beautiful goats 🤣 Garrett was struggling with, what I think was, general fatigue from so much Happening so he unfortunately didn’t join us, but the rest of us had a wonderful time. I can’t accurately convey how breathtaking the view was from up here! If you ever find yourself in Maui, I definitely recommend a visit! And if not, please support your local farms and businesses.

Now that I have more experience in my craft, I understand that one of my frustrations with watercolor painting was that I wasn’t patient enough to do serious preliminary studies for my artwork. Here’s something I’ve been working on currently — the “actual” painting will have to wait until my move up north in the middle of next month!

Day three of the 30 Day challenge: friends.

I’m almost a week late because I’m a horrible person.  I also worked some more on last weeks thing.

Another middle eastern person wants to buy my mom’s (half-Lebanese) mid-century china candy dishes and you know what… I see the cultural aesthetic but I can’t explain it lmao

I found the time to sit down and complete this painting! The original 2024 illustration was digitally drawn and painted in the Procreate app, and while at the time I wasn’t ready to return to watercolors, I knew it was a piece that would look so much better painted analog than digital and told myself that someday I would revisit this piece.

The 2024 illustration was inspired by Chelsea Wolfe’s song The Liminal which reminded me of Granger Taylor, a Canadian man who disappeared in 1980 after leaving a note saying he was boarding a spaceship to go on an interstellar journey. Last year Marissa Nadler released her song To Be The Moon King which again, reminded me of Granger Taylor… I suppose you can say this was a story that really stuck with me.

I am happy to be back painting in watercolors, it doesn’t cause me the kind of grief it used to. I have another idea for a painting, but it will probably have to wait until my husband and I move in mid-August. Thank you everyone for the support as always! 🛸💚

On June 27th, my partner Garrett of nine and a half years and I got married. I can’t thank everyone enough who helped us make our day special, whether it was in person with boots on the ground, or from afar with encouragement. I’m far enough in my fractured foot recovery that I was able to wear heels and get around okay! Truly, it was a beautiful day! We also went on a Honeymoon/family trip to Hawaii afterwards which I hope I can share pictures of soon!

Our next adventure begins in the middle of August, where we’ll be moving about 5 hours north to the California central coast for Garrett’s schooling. I’ve never lived outside of Los Angeles County before so… I am both excited and nervous! 💜
