Dear Anastasia,

As a huge fan of your work, I am constantly amazed by the incredible texture and life in your art. I know that many creators guard their workspaces fiercely to protect their focus, so I wanted to ask out of pure curiosity—is it ever possible to see a photo of the studio where all your magic happens?

Also, do you ever allow people to be in the space with you while you paint, or do you prefer absolute privacy when creating? I would love to know more about the environment that generates your beautiful pieces!

It’s actually a rather sad story. For a long time, I had a separate room in our house that was entirely my studio, and of course I can show you some photos of how it looked.About a month ago, I lost that space because my husband and I are going through a very difficult period in our relationship. There is a lot of conflict between us, especially around my independence and my work. I have thought about leaving many times, but we have three children, and that makes every decision much more complicated.

So right now, the “magic” happens in our shared living space. 😅 I still have my materials organized, but of course it doesn’t really feel like a studio anymore -my art supplies are in one corner, family things are in another, and everyday life happens all around me.

I also have my own gallery/studio space about a 30-minute drive from home. But because I usually paint in between taking care of the children, housework, and everything else, driving there every time I want to paint isn’t very practical. At the moment, I use that space mainly to receive visitors and show my paintings, so I’m not quite ready to move all my working materials there.

But you’ve actually given me an idea!

And yes, I absolutely love painting alone. I would probably choose complete solitude if I could. But in reality, that almost never happens. There are children around me, pets, my husband walking through the room… My life simply doesn’t give me many opportunities for peaceful isolation. So somehow, I learned to create in the middle of life itself. ❤️

I’m curious if you use glow in the dark paints because some of them really look like they glow. ✨ Or it’s a lighting thing? Either way, love them all. 🤗

Yes! I actually have several paintings where I use glow-in-the-dark paints and pigments. They contain phosphorescent pigments that absorb light and then slowly release it in the dark. I’ll post a photo now , they really look magical! In darkness, they can glow in yellow, orange, or greenish tones

I also use fluorescent paints and pigments, which are a little different, they glow brightly under UV light. And I love using pearlescent and iridescent pigments too. Those don’t glow in the dark, but they shimmer beautifully and change slightly depending on the light and viewing angle. 🎨✨

I’m continuing my series of quick summer sketches.

This one is about that beautiful moment when the day is almost over. The sun itself has already disappeared from view, somewhere behind us, but its last warm light is still touching the sharp rocks, making them glow in fiery reds and oranges against the cool blue sea.

The waves keep moving, the rocks hold the last light, and somewhere beyond the horizon the evening is slowly settling in.

Just a small, bright moment at the end of a summer day.

“Ripples in the Sky”

I really love the sea.

I was born far away from it, surrounded by forests, fields, rivers and lakes. I didn’t see the sea for the first time until I was about seventeen, when I finally traveled to the Black Sea.

Before I got married, I traveled and spent my holidays by the sea whenever I could. I never needed a swimming pool. I could spend hours by the water, watching sunrises and sunsets. It never felt too hot or too cold. I simply loved being there.

After I met my husband, we started spending more time at lakes instead. I adapted to his interests because I wanted us to spend more time together.

And then the children came, and I brought the sea back into my life ,but in a very different way.

Anyone who has children will probably understand. Sand gets everywhere, the sea is salty, their eyes sting, the beach is too hot… and somehow the swimming pool always wins.So for almost ten years now, most of my holidays have been spent by the pool.But wherever we travel, I still try to find my way back to the sea. Even if it’s only for a short walk, just to look at it, or to sit quietly on the shore in the evening and watch the sun disappear.

This painting came from one of those evenings in 2021.

Some things in our lives change completely. But somehow, we keep finding little ways back to the things we love.

Thank you so much! Yes, painting is a huge part of who I am, and no matter what happens in my life or how difficult things may get, I don’t think I’ll ever stop painting. Even if one day life gets really hard and all I can manage are tiny paintings or little sketches, I’ll still create.I truly recommend creativity to everyone, in whatever form feels right to you. It helps us process so many emotions, calm our minds, and get through difficult experiences. Art has always been that kind of place for me. ❤️

Hi! I love your work so much! I was wondering if you could show us some of the tools you use to get such fantastic textures on your paintings? I'm especially curious about the strokes that have a bunch of parallel lines in them.

Yes, of course! Here they are 😊 I have lots of different sculpting tools and spatulas, but these are some of my favorites. They’re made of soft silicone, so they don’t scratch the canvas or damage the gesso underneath. And because they have different patterns, you can create lots of different rhythms and textures with them. I definitely recommend them to anyone who loves experimenting with texture!

“Search for a Blooming Fern” (2022)

Do you know what is happening here?

This painting is inspired by an old Slavic legend. It was believed that only once a year, on the night of Ivan Kupala, a fern blooms deep in the forest. The mythical flower appears only for a moment, and whoever manages to find it may discover hidden treasures, gain extraordinary knowledge, understand the language of animals -or have their deepest wishes fulfilled.

But finding it was never supposed to be easy. The forest itself and its spirits were believed to guard the flower and confuse or frighten those who came searching for it.

So here, people have entered the forest at night looking for something that may not even exist. The ferns glow beneath their feet, tiny lights appear between the branches, an owl watches from the hollow of the enormous old tree — and somewhere in this blue darkness, perhaps, the impossible flower is about to bloom.

Would you go into this forest to look for it?

Collectible Postcards 2026 - Lilies, Water Lilies & Lotuses

These three little paintings were created for my annual participation in a charity exhibition and sale organized by a non-profit organization supporting people struggling with addiction.

The exhibition and sale of these postcards, together with hundreds of works by other artists, will take place in November–December in Zaragoza, Spain.

And, as always, I absolutely love the idea behind this project: the artist’s name is not shown on the front of the postcard it appears only on the back. So when choosing a piece, you don’t know who created it. You simply choose the artwork that speaks to you ,with your heart, not by the artist’s name. 💙

I truly love participating in projects like this charity exhibitions, auctions and fundraisers where art can become something more than something beautiful.

“The Flowing Sky”

This painting was created especially for a charity auction benefiting the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the forests, rivers, farmlands, and natural landscapes of central Pennsylvania. Since 1982, the conservancy has helped preserve thousands of acres of land for wildlife and future generations. I am honored that this painting can contribute to their mission of protecting these beautiful places.
