Baran learning to coexist with her disability/chronic illness instead of fighting against it. Baran learning to accept the reality that it may never be āfixedā and chasing a permanent solution is likely an endless endeavor. Baran learning that her condition doesnāt undermine her worth or capabilities as a physician or person.
Baran Al-Hashimi [The Pitt] | You Can Do Anything
Dedicated to everyone who's ever struggled with the limitations imposed on them by their chronic illness or disability.
So Baran and I obviously have very different conditions (and my impairments are much more severe) but I really relate to her character as someone with a post-viral illness, and who started to get sick when they were five after an infection. I've also experienced seizures and I can remember how powerless that made me feel and how terrifying they could be. It's scary to have absolutely no control over your body and no way of knowing when you're going to lose control. It really means a lot that we have a character like her on such a popular show.
I think because this is fiction, that they'll find a way to make it so that she can work next season. There'll be a solution. But for a lot of us, there is no solution. We can't do what we want or what we need to, because our symptoms either make it impossible, or we don't have access to the accommodations we need, or we push through our symptoms to the point where we make ourselves much, much worse. And I think that flies in the face of the belief that if you want something enough and you try hard enough and put in enough work, you can get it. You can make yourself do something. And, unfortunately, that just doesn't align with the reality of having a body that doesn't function properly.
So a lot of us, if not all of us, are constantly faced with times where we have to figure out whether something is something that we can achieve with the right tools, if we try hard enough; or if it's something that is impossible for us. Even when you do everything right and give it your all, it's still not enough. And we have to accept that. We have to find a way to accept that we CAN'T do anything, and that we do have limitations, and that's really hard.
A lot of people who aren't in our position and aren't sick will view this as giving up, that we didn't try hard enough. But I think that the real giving up is when you keep trying and keep pushing up against this brick wall until it destroys you. Because you can't face the reality of your own situation, the reality of your own life, of your own body. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to listen to your body and give it what it needs. Acceptance is one of the hardest things about being sick and, in my experience, it's a constant battle. But an important one.
So much content about disabled/ill people is geared towards being inspirational (and most of the time, it seems to be targeted towards people who aren't disabled with the goal of inspiring THEM). So, from the start, I wanted this video to be the opposite of inspirational. Because I think we need more of that. You are allowed to be a person and not an inspiration.
i know people more eloquent than i am have said this but i can't ever get over what a revolutionary character trinity santos is. hyper-ambitious abrasive traumatized lesbian. adult who still self-harms. vaguely suicidal but chose to live anyway but doesn't know how to be alive. grieving. sexually abused as a child. in a toxic situationship with an equally abrasive sexy older surgeon. relentless advocate for her patients, especially the children. besties with her older traumatized suicidal boss and her formerly homeless coworker she took in off the street and her former child prodigy coworker who's just as abrasive as she is but just in a different way. secretly the kindest person on the planet. i could cry i love you so much trinity santos!!
He said no way š„¹
āShould I post this fic-ā literally always yes. Always YES!! You wrote something that you WANT to share with the fandom because you, despite whatever writing experience you may or may not have, sat down and loved a story so much that you WROTE IT!! If you want to share it, then yes, you should always post it. You donāt need permission!!

honestly, I can't stand the HOTD fandom on threads/instagram. they have the absolute worst takes when it comes to the female characters and you can tell they get off on hating/ridiculing them. i don't care if you like or dislike a character - and, at this point, I don't really like most of the characters on the show myself - but the deliberate misinterpretation of their actions/motivations, trying to pigeon hole them into good vs evil caricactures without any nuance, and holding them up to a higher standard than characters like Daemon (who can do no wrong over there š) is driving me up the wall. I had to mute the tag.
Ahsoka Tano for the art requests?
(i forgot how to draw her šµāš« had to pull up the character sheet and everything. thanks for requesting and sorry it took so long, hope u like!!)
feel free to send me art requests!
it is genuinely so unbelievably annoying to be a child trafficking survivor and have to listen to people argue about shadows on the wall when it comes to childrenās rights and child abuse prevention. the only true way to prevent child abuse is to take away parental control. give children rights. give them the education, resources, and rights to say yes or no to whatever and whoever they desire. i know what would have helped me. iām so mind numbingly sick of all of this. everyone wants to feel like a hero, but nobody wants to help anyone.
there is not a pedophile cabal hiding in the shadows waiting to kidnap children. parents are the number one perpetrators of child sexual abuse. my kidnapper was my mother. my traffickers were all paid by her and had legal custody over me. i was forced thru constant manual labor and sexual humiliation in the name of ātherapyā because parents are allowed to do whatever they want with the children they own. the end of adult supremacy is the only way to end child abuse.
