We tried out Kumihimo Braiding at our Teen Craft this past Wednesday! Such a simple and affordable process with nothing but a diy cardboard loom and some yarn and the results were amazing. Each braid was a little different based on the colors, thickness of the yarns, and tightness of the weave.

We’ll be making Monster Energy Bites at Teen Food Workshop this Weds, 2 p.m.. Come on over after early release and bring your chef skills and your appetite!

New program upcoming this fall: Teen Food Workshop!

Want to improve your food prep skills? Have some culinary fun and get your snack on after early release with Teen Food Workshop, the third Wednesday of each month. Each workshop will show how to make a cool snack step by step, and then we’ll eat what we’ve made together!

Our last Summer Reading prize basket, the Community Basket, went home with its winner this morning! She should be able to make some great community connections to Build a Better World using the items in the basket. The grand prizes drawing will be next Monday, 8/14, so there is one week left to bring in your summer reading calendar and get those final raffle tickets!

Last week, another excited teen went home with a prize from the Teen Summer Reading Program: the Pop Culture basket! We are still less than halfway through the summer and lots of thrilling prizes remain, so sign up on our website today and come in to get your calendar and start earning for your reading.

Last week’s prize for the Teen Summer Reading Program was the Play Basket! The teen who won was pretty stoked. Our Summer Reading Program kicked off this Monday. We have had more than 50 teens sign up already! The drawing for our first awesome prize basket, the Fantasy Basket, will be this Friday. Come in to pick up your bag with your reading log and other goodies and read all summer long. Check back in with us each week to add more raffle tickets with your name to the pot. For our Survival theme this month, one teen activity was building mini “wilderness shelters” out of forest-foraged materials. We then placed a cotton ball inside each teen’s shelter and tested them against “the elements” by dousing them with a cup of water. The kids loved seeing which shelters kept their cotton ball people safe and dry....and which led to soaked or crushed campers! Lots of laughter and triumph--try it out.

Have you tried decorating your corded tech with Perler beads? You just have to cut a slit on one side of the bead (I prepped ours quickly with an Xacto knife) and they’re ready to snap on. Wells Teens tried it today for Teen Tech Week and came out with some awesome personalized headphones!
