Shout out to my public library for putting on a lei making class this AAPI Month! The librarian leading the program is native Hawaiian and the example leis are actually ones her family made! The type of lei we made is called wili lei, a traditional Hawaiian lei made by winding or twisting (wili) foliage and flowers onto raffia. I had a lot of fun and am so grateful to have had the opportunity to participate 🌺🌿🌼🌱🌸
it's five inches
My local library had a "tiny art" program the other day that I attended. It was fun. The (optional) theme was "winter wonderland" because of the lack of snow and winter weather we've had here.
I did this little shitty painting of the big ginger Seed:
I won't lie, I had to take it home to finish it 🤣 I suck at acrylic paint, it dries too damn fast! But it turned out kinda cute.
I can't believe the first thing that I'm sharing publicly that I've made of Mr. Ginger Grumpy Ass is this shitty little painting, but here we are, lol.
This fanart piece from LoBanhart lives eternally rent free in my head, and was the inspiration. Theirs is nicely done and moody, mine is shitty and cozy 🤣 (Do they have a tumblr? If they do I need to link it) Here it is :)
Craft: Dried Flower Lantern
Need:
Dried flowers
Mod podge (matte is best)
Brushes
Plain glass jars
Tea lights
Twine or ribbon
Directions:
I know, I can hear you saying "more dried flower crafts??" Just trust me. I don't know why, but teens are just obsessed with these crafts. I don't blame them, they're very pretty.
This craft does require a bit of patience just because you're working on a round surface with wet glue. The process itself is simple: pick which flowers you want, apply a thin layer of mod podge to the jar, press the flower onto the glue, apply another thick layer of mod podge on top.
Similar to all the other dried flower crafts, the flowers are very delicate, so make sure the teens aren't being too aggressive with the brushes or the petals will fall off.
I tried this with a few different jars. I thought it could be cute with a mason jar that had a design on it, but it was just too much. Applying the flowers was difficult and the final result was so busy. It's best to use clear jars with a flat, clean surface.
It can definitely be a bit messy of a program, but I dunno. I loved it haha, I think these lamps are so stinkin cute. Especially if you get the flickering tea lights.
Yarned & Dangerous by Lester Public Library Via Flickr: Knitters and crocheters: Convene weekly for convivial crafting! Adults (and teens) can bring their own projects and spend a pleasant evening together at the fireplace. And happy news for those who’ve always wanted to learn: basic instruction is offered along with friendly encouragement. A drop-in, laid back sort of gathering; come and go as you can. sometimes it feels like a significant amount of my job as a librarian is chasing people around trying to give them free stuff.
Hello! I work for a library, and I’m trying to gauge what programs people would be interested in attending. I created a survey for people to fill out - I would appreciate if some people filled it out, but there is no pressure or obligation! The data will not be shared, it is for me to see what my library can do to attract patrons. Thanks!!

Thanks for checking out this survey! I want to see what people are looking for in library programming - that is, what kind of events/worksho
This escape room is based on the Book Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. This take place before the book but some elements of the Shadow and Bone series have been added to the story. This was created by the teen librarians of the White Oak Library District. This escape room does include violence.
Six of Crow fun library created escape room! Before the six of crows book! Free fun activity.
