False Color Image of Jupiter's Rings

This image of Jupiter's rings was taken by Voyager 2 looking back towards Jupiter from inside its shadow one day after its flyby. The thin jovian ring makes up the two orange lines to the left of the image. The blue and red arc is the limb of Jupiter, backlit by the Sun. The lower ring is cut short by Jupiter's shadow. The image was produced from two images taken through the orange and violet filters from a distance of almost 1.5 million km.

The Dragon V2

SpaceX’s newest reusable spacecraft can transport up to seven astronauts to the International Space Station. The V2 is capable of docking autonomously with the ISS and is equipped with an engine 160 times more powerful than the previous Draco engines making use of 3D printed technologies.

Curiosity Sends Back Incredible Hi-Res Views of Mt. Sharp

This image, released today, is a high-resolution shot of the Curiosity rover’s ultimate goal: the stratified flanks of Gale Crater’s 3.4-mile (5.5-km) high central peak, Mount Sharp. The image was taken with Curiosity’s 100mm telephoto Mastcam as a calibration test.
