I've lowkey dreamed of making a blog like this for ages and you may have finally inspired me, but for now have a list of main/secondary characters from my Future-Lake-Clans OC story. With bios, bc they played heavily into my naming decisions! Tho obviously I won't be offended if they aren't to your taste lol (Sorry in advanced for the wall of text 😅)
Amberfrost / Amberstar : ginger-and-white classic tabby tom, pale amber eyes. Has extra toes on his front paws. Also has a half-length tail; the other half lost in some sort of accident (he won't tell anyone what happened, but he got wrapped in fishing line as an apprentice. It was too tightly knotted to be cut with tooth or claw, so it lost circulation and died. Amberpaw essentially docked his own tail on accident. He will take this fact to his grave. Feel free to mock him for it lmao)
RiverClan leader, very tempermental and borderline dictative. Appears distant if well-meaning to the public, but in private he inspires the kind of quiet, menacing terror that keeps everyone in line. Isn't afraid to publicly punish someone if they talk back or break the rules. He's also HYUGE - an overbearing size that matches his presence. Everyone has some modicum of respect for him, but a lot of them are more inspired by fear than genuine admiration. Tho he does have a few sycophants, as well.
Dayfrost / Dayseeker : longhaired, light brown-and-white bicolor classic tabby molly with yellow eyes
RiverClan warrior and Amberstar's only child. A BIG cat when fully grown, standing at least half a head taller than most of her Clanmates (but still a head smaller than Amberstar. Again, he's HUGE.) Everyone assumes she's dad's little drone, so they distance themselves from her, but in reality she's constantly fighting to get out from under Amberstar's paw. Her life is overshadowed by his presence & expectations - he even made her his apprentice, and when she was finally made a warrior after several delays, named her after HIMSELF. Aside from her aunt and cousins, her only friends are in different Clans. At ~3yo she defects from the Clans entirely and runs away. After a looong storyline, like years later, new friends/found family name her Dayseeker, after how she always follows a spark of hope, no matter how dark her circumstances. "Seeking the light", if you will.
Paleskip : longhaired cream trans molly with large white patches and pale green eyes.
Day's maternal aunt, and RiverClan's medicine cat. She's one of Day's only safe spaces in the Clan and finds any excuse to bring her niece along on errands so she can get a break from Amberstar (whom Paleskip loathes with a passion. The feeling is mutual.) She's got spunk and can joke with the best of them! Gentle and kind with her patients but an absolute ice queen to those she dislikes. She'll still treat them, obviously, but she'll be stonefaced and silent the whole time. Her hypervigilance in keeping Daykit/paw safe caused her to accidentally neglect her current apprentice, Goldenpaw, though he's at least trained up enough to be near getting his name. She tried to take on Daypaw as a secondary apprentice, but Amberstar shut her down pretty quick.
Skyheart : very pale white-and-gray patched tom with one light blue, and one yellow eye. Has large ears and a somewhat long muzzle.
WindClan warrior and only surviving child of the deputy (the Clans have a nepotism issue in this story). Has poor eyesight/light sensitivity, and is prone to headaches and sunburns, which does not meld well with WindClan's usual lifestyle. He's one of Dayfrost's close friends and later love interest, though sadly he doesnt live very long after their relationship is established. Knowing she hated her warrior name, he would call her all variations of Day- names, but his favorite was "Daylight, because you're the light of my life!" As a kit/apprentice he's cripplingly insecure and has a strained relationship with his dad, fueled by the fact his mother died kitting him and the (false) idea his dad blames him for it, but after getting his adult name they awkwardly start mending things. He gains confidence as he ages - by the time he's an adult he's got enough guts to fight to the death protecting his mate, sooo-
Darkcloud : patched black-and-white tom with hazel eyes. Tall and lanky, big ears.
WindClan deputy and Skyheart's father. The poster child of "a man of few words." He's distant and awkward with Skykit from birth, first from grieving the loss of his mate, and then just... Not knowing how to connect with this kitten he's been avoiding for months. Every attempt at encouragement was recieved as criticism instead, and he sort of just. Gave up for a while. Focused on his job. Let Skypaw bond with his mentor instead. He is the only cat who knew of Sky's cross-Clan relationship, and rather than be angry at him for breaking the Code, he just wanted his son to be happy. Even floated the idea of convincing the leader, his good friend, to let her join WindClan.
Marshstep : fluffy black-and-russet trans tom, with white toes and locket, and green eyes.
ShadowClan warrior-turned-medcat, and Dayfrost's other good friend. He felt drawn to the med den for a long time, but only officially swapped roles a few weeks after gaining his warrior name. He's laid back and self-assured in nearly everything he does. Quiet and introspective but has a strong sense of humor, and an equally strong sense of moral justice. Though he can be dodgy when upset, and will go out of his way to avoid a cat he doesn't want to talk to. He's frequently underestimated by enemies who are unaware of his background and isn't afraid to take advantage of that, plenty capable of backing up his bark with his bite.
And those are the main players, off the top or my head! But i also have like 4-5 clans worth of cats with less need for an extensive backstory so maybe I'll submit some of those much simpler characters in the future, lol.

Amberfrost [Amberstar] (8 [7]) ~ What a LOSER /j but that's such a way of losing your tail good god. Yeah with how intimidating this guy is trying to be I understand why he would take this to his grave.. But anyways!! Name. Amber- is a very, very cool and underutilized prefix that I really love! And, we know I love -frost, so it's understandable I like this name a whole lot. I do like Amberstar too! It definitely gives me an image... though I like Amberfrost more!!
Dayfrost [Dayseeker] (5 [9]) ~ It's so funny because before I even READ Dayseeker's lore I was like "huh, really weird I don't actually love Dayfrost much. Usually I love -frost in names but not here???" I guess my gut feeling was there to warn me of why I disliked it TwT I'm very glad arc wise she's able to overcome her manipulative father's grasp and free herself basically. That makes me happy :3 But anyways!! Like I said, I don't love Dayfrost - which is really weird. I love frost, and based on how I rated Dayseeker I don't despise Day- as a prefix??? So, yeah I don't really know. I guess it doesn't give me super strong imagery, or doesn't quite sound right? Idk, can't put my finger on it. DAYSEEKER THOUGH??? Oh, oh that's iconic. That's a sick name. Again, Day- as a prefix is unique and I like it a lot here especially - -seeker as a suffix really elevates it. Like, someone who seeks the day, seeks the light over the dark? Hell yeah! That's super fucking cool bro! ESPECIALLY with the lore! I love it. I love this kitty so much. She sounds awesome, her story is great, and yeah, awesome cat <3 ALSO DAYKIT IS REALLY CUTE WEHHHHH
Paleskip (10) ~ I absolutely adore this name?? I don't really know why! It's VERY simple, but like... Idk. Pale- is a prefix I just always think is cool (since whenever I hear it I just think of Pale Oak Forests from Minecraft which I think are really cool COUGH), and -skip just really adds to it for me???? Idk! I just love it a lot I guess <3 ALSO PALESKIP AS A CHARACTER SOUNDS SO SICK BRO I LOVE HER AHHBEHJBEHJ
Skyheart (6) ~ This name is alright for me! Sky- is a nice prefix, -heart can be hit or miss for me for certain names. But yeah. Not bad! I also really like his character!!! Like yes boy fight to death protecting your mate /silly. But his character sounds so interesting, and I really like that he tried calling Day different names wehhhhhh. But yeah, his name is alright haha!!
Darkcloud (6) ~ Simple, but nice name. Comes with imagery easily, doesn't sound too bad, but yeah, not too shabby!! And what a Guy TM. I love how he sounds. He sounds supportive, just has his own struggles mans is working through. Very cool guy!
Marshstep (5) ~ Already rated this name before actually!! My thoughts haven't changed so I'll just put the thoughts I had previously:
"This name is okay. Reminds me of Swampstep which was a name I was also neutral on lol... I don't think -step is perfect for Marsh- and I do think there could be better suffixes for it. So yeah"
I really do like the sound of his character though!! He sounds chill and cool :3
