Hello everyone! Saeran Zine Mods here o/ Thank you once again for your support and interest! We are planning to open applications soon but first, we would like to introduce ourselves and what you can expect from this project. This info will be updated; in case you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask! ～
● Who is organizing the zine?
There are 7 of us who are deeply passionate about Mystic Messenger and, of course, about our precious boy Saeran! -
@mehgumi and @karenaikara, who were the organizers of last year’s @mmsummerzine,
@yandereshit, one of the mods of the currently ongoing @mysmetravelzine and the upcoming @saeranchoiweek,
@dragonpigeons, @ranayoh, @mitsouparker and @lilith5th, first-time mods, but who have enthusiastically contributed to the MM fandom with their artworks and participated in a number of zines.
Together, we bring a whole lot of experiences to make this zine as amazing as possible!
● What is this zine about?
This Saeran Zine is a SFW Charity zine about Saeran Choi, in all his appearances throughout the routes.
We want to let the artists and writers choose among childhood Saeran, Unknown from Normal/Deep Story, Secret Endings Saeran, Ray, Unknown from Another Story and Saeran from his route’s Good Ending! We want to have at least one piece for every single one of them, which also means the creators will have to fairly early decide, which one they want to work on.
We are accepting platonic ships, but romantic ship is reserved for MC only.
● What are all those Saerans?
Let us explain every one of them. Warning! This point contains spoilers from the whole game. You may need to go through it, if you want to work on any of those!
Childhood Saeran - the one we can see in memories;
Unknown from Normal/Deep Story - as the title says! The personality which is present mainly in bad endings and Seven’s route;
Secret Endings Saeran - the red-haired version, reunited with Saeyoung at the whole end of his route;
Ray - the sweet cinnamon bun from Another Story!
Unknown from Another Story - in game, he went by name Saeran, but he has a lot in common with Unknown! We mean the one from his route, in black suit, that kinky guy;
Saeran from his route’s Good Ending - the one in white shirt that we can see at the end of his route, reunited with Ray!
● Where will the proceeds go?
As mentioned above, all proceeds - after printing costs and shipping are covered - will go to the Korean Unicef Initiative “#EndViolence”. #ENDviolence is a promise of a better future to children and to ensure safety and protection for our children from all forms of violence. ● Who can participate in the zine?
We are planning to accept around 20 Artists and 4-5 Writers. Depending on how many applications and how much interest we receive, we may increase the amount.
We are in the process of preparing an Application Form for both artists and writers. Everyone will be welcome to apply!
Artists will produce one illustration for the zine - complete with character(s) and background. Both digital and traditional illustrations are welcome, although take care that with traditional it must be scanned at high resolution!
Writers will produce one piece (the count of words will be given), focused on one, chosen personality.
● Will there be merchandise too?
We plan to have some! We would like to offer bundles with bookmarks, prints, stickers, or a combination of all of these. We’ll keep you updated about this. Artist applicants are also welcome to apply to be a merch artist too!
● What will I get if I contribute to this zine?
We guarantee a free physical copy of the zine to all the contributors. If the funds allow, we’ll cover the shipping for all the contributors - otherwise, there’s a chance that they’ll have to cover the costs themselves. This is why your support and help in spreading the word about this zine are so important!
We have a very tentative schedule as follows:
Opening the applications in early March
Closing the applications close by the end of March
List of contributors up by the end of March
Creation period for both artists and writers during April - May
Pre-Orders opening in July
Zines shipped by Summer’s end!
Please note the exact dates are still being decided with a number of things taken into consideration. We aim to share a definitive date by the Closing Date of the Applications, so stay tuned!

● One little question, but whose illustrations are you using for the header and chibi in the icon and feeler post?
The beautiful header was done by @mitsouparker, and the amazingly animated chibi was a collab by @mehgumi and @ranayoh!
