[ A Soul's Worth!AU ] Art + Fanfiction
Read on AO3!
Hello, welcome to my new AU, which is basically an "soulmates, but with a twist" kind of project I've been working on for the past week. :]
I LOVE HER I LOVE HER I LOVE HER
when I do not like something(and I did not like the previous version) I decided to remake and make the art more extensive.
Well, I donât know, itâs kind of ok đ¤ˇââď¸
@yourbruhpj âs vampni design âŁď¸
happy new year!!
thank you all for being here with me, and i am so looking forward to seeing what adventures this year brings me. i hope you all have the best year yet!
Some Tadc boxer AU stuff đ (btw this was my first time rendering sort of realistically and I fear it looks soooo bad but I hope yâall like it anyways!)
i must bury my feelings for you
OK KIDS IMA TEACH YOU HOW TO MAKE YOUR LINE-ART MESH WITH YOUR ART BETTER AND LOOK SOFTâ˘
OK SO I PREPARED A QUICK DOODLE FOR THIS TUTORIAL SO I APOLOGIZE FOR ANY ANATOMICAL MISTAKES
Iâm gonna show you how to turn your art from this, to this
The one on the right is much softer, right? Hereâs how you do it.
For this Iâm using MediBang, but you can use this technique on any art platform that allows layers, layer settings (especially overlay), gaussian blur (or just a general blur), and layer clipping.
Here we go.Â
Weâre gonna start with good olâ Pidge here. After youâve finished all of your coloring and shading and linework and such, youâre going to want toÂ
1) make sure all of your linework is on the same layer.
2) turn off the lineart layer so that you can only see the coloring you did. It can be pretty messy and horrifying, I know, but you wonât have to look at it for that long. once youâve done that, make sure there is no background layer. Sometimes itâs just white and you forget itâs there but make sure you turn it off or this wonât work right.
3) export a transparent png of just the color part. It should look like this:
See, gross right? it looks so nakey without the lines.
3) now you need to import the nakey.png back into the original document, right under where the lineart layer is (which should still be turned off). The purpose of this is to get all the color layers together in an easy way so that itâs easy to modify.
4) This is where it starts to get fun. youâre gonna Gaussian blur the heckie out of the color layer that you just imported. the amount you blur it should be kinda proportionate to the thickness of your lineart. Donât blur it at max if your lineart is 2 pixels thick, and donât blur it so little that you can barely tell if you have 20 pixel thick lineart. You can always go back and blur it more if it doesnât look right.
This is kinda what it should look like now.
5) ok so now, turn the lineart layer back on, and duplicate it. Then move one line layer below the color layer, so theres one on the bottom and one on top, like a lineart sandwich. like this:
6) now, clip the color layer to the lineart layer below.
7) This is the part where it actually starts to look COOL. Set the top lineart layer to overlay, in the layer settings. once thatâs done, it should look like⌠this!
Weâre getting somewhere! Doesnât it mesh with the colors a lot better now? Itâs not perfect yet tho. See how her mouth kinda disappeared? Well weâre gonna fix that up and any other parts that look a bit wonky.
8) Before you touch it up, make sure you play with the layer opacity of the top lineart and color layers. Some pieces may look better if you tone down the lineart layer, some look better if you bring the color layer down a bit. Play around until you find what works. For me here, it looked best to put the top lineart layer at 73%. Again, whatever looks best.
9) Now, to touch it up, youâre going to draw on the color layer in the center of the lineart sandwich. I suggest picking the color of the shaded part in whatever area youâre fixing (for the mouth I think I picked the color from her cheek, but for the top of the shirt I used the color from the shaded part. Whatever looks good). Just airbrush it around that general area until youâre satisfies with how it looks (remember, the color layer is clipped so it wont look like a mess when youâre coloring all over the place).
Once youâre done, it should look a little more clean. like this!
(oh yeah also I gave her glasses after, since I didnât want them so be softened at all)
Nice! now if youâd like to complete the Soft⢠look, give it a pastel background that matches your shading, (remember that background layer I yelled at you to get rid of earlier? He can come back now), slap on a filter, (here I just filled a layer with purple, put it on top, and put the layer setting at âscreenâ), add your watermark and voila!
Look at this Soft⢠kid.
I hope that was helpful to those of you that asked, Iâve never done a tutorial before so if there is anything thatâs unclear, feel free to message me or let me know and Iâll clarify it for you! And if you use my tutorial, tag me in it or send me a linky-dink! Iâd love to see how you do.
Honestly i forgot if i asked or not so⌠brushes?
I know this question is repetitive but as a new procreate user iâve been trying to find brushes i like and i noticed your pencil brush and went :o

Moosepudding's Brushes
Jingsketch's Brushes
Most of my brushes have been modified slightly to fit my personal drawing flow - so I cannot guarantee that they'll look 1:1 when you download them from their OG source. Especially the Edge Control has been modified to be without texture (Jing's OG brush has a texture applied to it), and the Airbrush is just Procreate's standard airbrush with tweaked color jitter to give the rimmed color effect. My Procreate's in german, sorry :']
There's a few more brushes I use from several brushsets, and I switch between them so frequently it's impossible to say "those are the one's I use constantly" except those I've shown above, but I'll link some more I use here & there:
