Audrey shook her head as Wes turned it around on her. “Nope, can’t use that line on me buddy, you’ve gotta come up with your own. I said it first.” She let out a small laugh and quickly mimicked his scrunched up face, her eyes falling into a glare a moment later. “Don’t be such a grump, it’s gonna be a blast. Especially when it’s time to ride the Ferris wheel later. If we get in line at just the right time, we’ll get to ride it while the fireworks go off. I’ve done it every year since I was like 12.” Audrey bit on her lip after their kiss, knowing she probably had just sounded even more grossly optimistic, but honestly didn’t care. He knew what the plan was, but she just couldn’t help reminding him. She’d been waiting for weeks. It was honestly her favorite part of the whole carnival. “Great.” She nodded, smiling into his kiss again and this time slipping her hand into his. “You’re the best, now we can be totally cliche and you can win me something with your big manly strength.” She laughed and quickly said a goodbye to her sorority sisters she’d been standing before taking his hand and leading him through the crowd some. “How was the rest of your day up til now?” She spoke, genuinely curious about the things that went on in his life.
“You don’t have a monopoly on that line, just FYI,” he countered, smirking back at her as she mimicked him, rolling his eyes. “I’m not a grump-- I just wasn’t expecting it to be so packed. Like, I was, but now that all these people here-- it’s a lot.” He pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a sigh, smiling gently at her. She really was cute when she got excited about things like this; it’s what made him like her so much. While he could be a bit of a pessimist, she was the opposite, which was what he needed. “You’re a huge dork. You’re lucky I like you-- the Ferris Wheel is my least favorite ride, but I’m going to do it for you,” he replied with a grin, reaching up to cup her chin, leaning in to kiss her again, lips barely brushing against hers. He didn’t mind the Ferris Wheel-- he just thought it was a little boring, but if it meant spending some time with her-- plus, she was so excited about it. “I’ll win you all the things. Where should we start?” He followed as she lead him through the crowd of people, intertwining their fingers so as not to lose her; when they finally broke through the crowd, he brought her closer, letting go of her hand to wrap his arm around her waist. “It was good-- just worked. I’m just glad they gave me the night off. What about you? What did you do today, before now?”
