[The giant corvid stalks from out of the darkness, its massive frame dimly lit in the halls of the blacksite. Is it friendly? Will you approach? The choice is yours.]

[all 4 eyes stare at you intently, as it lowers its head and sniffs at you. It’s long Tiger-striped tail swishes around and its wings flutter. You then notice a collar around it’s neck as the appendage beeps to life.]

“What is your purpose down here.”

[The collar beeped again, obviously the creature couldn’t talk, but perhaps the collar allowed it to? How odd.]

Harper was certainly fuming at the moment, having been glaring particularly hard at the wall ahead. A dolphin. The information was something to keep in mind, all things considered - especially with her wandering in the Blacksite.

She did, however, pause in her seething when feeling the sudden weight at her lap. Taking in a sharp breath at first, her fins flared out, before she realized whom it was.

“Corvus.” Harper greeted with a heavy sigh, tail seeming to lash behind her. “Hey.”

“Why are you so angry?”

[The corvid asks, purring and cooing slightly at her affection.]

“I don’t like seeing you so upset, would you care to tell me what’s on your mind?”

Harper was grumbling a bit, turning her head away momentarily as she rested her hand atop Corvus’s head.

“It’s nothing.” She tried to assure, gritting her teeth. “Nothing that matters. Just some stupid shit, that’s all.”

".....Is it about Kari?"

[Corvus leaned into her hand, a bird-like coo coming out of his beak and he closed all 4 eyes.]

"You're always so.. angry when she's mentioned."

[He chittered softly]

"why..?"

*a short, red, bean-shaped creature with two stubby legs and no arms appeared before you. It had one blue glass window at the top of its head that made it look like a cyclops. It also had a little backpack on its back*

[He tilts his head to the side in confusion]

“What the..?”

[He sat down, curling his tail around his waist and sniffed the creature almost like how a curious dog would.]

“What are you..”

[He poked it with a claw. Was this an experiment? Expendable? He did not know at this point.]

“You’re strange.”

With the sight of the other, a more genuine sort of smile had found its way to her face. “How have you been? I feel as if it’s been some time since I’ve seen you last..”

[Harp. A little nickname for her because she was another monster down here like he was.]

''It's been interesting down here.''

[He lifted he head up a bit, a bit of his tail curling contentedly]

“Eh, I’m fine. I’ve run into.. a few interesting people.” She lifted a clawed hand, shaking it out. “Nothing much past the norm other than that, though.” They were stuck in the constant cycle of roaming, wandering.. just.. waiting for something to happen.

She moved to lean back onto her hands, tail shifting somewhat.

“How so, though? What’s been going on with you?”

“Urbanshade has been… more demanding than usual lately. They are angry I have not found that bloody saboteur yet. How is that my fault? If even they can’t find it.”

[He looks angry now, how was he meant to find the other of even they couldn’t?]

“Soon. Soon I will find him. And when I do I’ll..”

[He side glances at Harper and shakes his head.]

“Nothing new? That’s a shame.”

[He flicks his tail apologetically.]

“I miss my dad, I saw him recently down here. Urbanshade wont leave he alone either.”

“The Saboteur. You’re talking about Sebastian, right? There’s usually a shop that he frequents..” She trailed off with that. If Sebastian were to know that someone were after him, then no doubt he’d be paying attention to who was close to his shop. To know when to hide away, to ensure that he wouldn’t be found by those who he didn’t wish to be found by.

Hearing the mention of his father, she frowned, reaching a hand out to place against the other’s side gently.

“Urbanshade won’t leave anyone alone. They’re sick bastards that think that keeping everyone on a leash works without consequence.” And maybe it did, in some right. It certainly didn’t mean that she approved of it any more, however.

[He nodded slowly, moving to lay his massive fluffy head on her lap for scratches.]

“Why us..”

[He asked, a sad chittering noise coming from out his beak.]

“……Urbanshade.. what do they require from us. I know what they need from me but for you..? ..I hate this. I don’t want to live my life being feared or shunned because of something some sick freaks did to me no…”

[He missed his sister. He would never forget the sight that greeted him when he came into that room,, no matter how many times Headquarters tried to shock him and make him forget.]

“….Why do some walk free while others live in chains.”

Feeling the other place his head into her lap, she exhaled, shifting her hands to run through the other’s feathers as a small frown tugged at her lips.

“They wanted me to be some guard dog.” Harper about hissed out the words. “It didn’t work. They threw me down here to rot.” Maybe after the breach that had happened, they’d be attempting to cull her out. She wouldn’t have been surprised.

Harper continued with the careful movements of petting the other, leaning back ever so slightly. “Screw them for everything they’ve done. Trapping us, making monsters of us —“ She hissed out a breath. “I wish I could rip them limb from limb.”

“I don’t see you as a monster.”

[The words could come out before he could stop them but he did not care.]

“Despite your fangs and claws and sometimes snappy attitude, you were there for me at my lowest. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to repay that.”

[He sighs visibly.]

“Urbanshade will punish me if they ever heard me say this but.. if you need help getting out of the black site please just.. just ask me for help.”

[He coos softly when he feels her stroking his feathers, it is a nice feeling.]

“At least one of us has to get out of here alive Harp. And I’d rather it you than me.”

"mhhh? Something wrong pal?" Allo asked seeing the upset look on the fellow experiment face.

His head titling back a bit to look at the tall creature's face his tail ever so slightly tapping to the ground he was sitting on.

”..I… I found my document..”

[He whispers, moving to go lay down almost like a dog would.]

“…”

[He hands Allo the document.]

He carefully takes the file using his tail to prep it up so he can read with one hand flipping it open. The other hand moved to gently pet the top of corvus's head to comfort his friend.

His eyes grew dark as he read the file , pupils narrowed to pin prick size , his mask was clearly shifting from his habit of doing the threat display with fangs and tongues showing.

"fucking urban shade " he nearly snarled out as he closed the file and shifted to gently hug corvus's head "I'm so sorry ...you didn't deserve any of that " he spoke in a gentle hushed tone , rage was boiling

“..th..is whole time I.. I’ve been trying to kill my own brother..”

[Isnt he the reason your sister is dead.]

“…why did he kill those people.. what did I do- why did they do this to me..”

[He turned and looked at Allo]

“I don’t even remember my own face.”

Allo was quite , he had read the sabatour's file a while back when he found he could buy it with some stashed research.

"corvus ...olliie..." He started and sighed as he carefully petted the top of the bird's head gently combing his hand through the feathers fur.

"your brother didn't kill those people ....he was framed " he started "they lied to you ...I've read his file and like you ...they wanted to keep secrets from him and you " he explained gently "and ...I bet you were the cutest kid " he added to try and cheer the big kid ? Up .

[Corvus was going to respond when his collar came to life with a fury. There was a cracking/shock sound and the metal appendage burned right through Corvus’s skin on his neck. Corvus leaped up and began writhing around on the ground, body jerking as the pain became was to much. Unlike those flimsy cheep collars that the weaker experiments had, Corvus’s collar was top grade, meaning the voltage and how much electrical power could be easily controlled on his. Headquarters had decided to shock him to the max.]

_Do not listen to Z-013253. It is only saying lies._

[But Allo had said. He trusted Allo, he knew the other would not lie.]

_We have your sister’s own corpse as evidence. It is Z-13’s fault. She is dead because of it._

[A tear trickled from one of Corvus’s eyes.]

[He didn’t know who to believe anymore.]

[He watches as Amaris walks away, he feels lonely but he will not say this.]

[He stares down at the document. He wants to read it.]

[He’s about to open the document when his collar comes to life with vengeance and-]

*CRACK*

[He is violently shocked, the seering pain burning through the tough hide of skin on his neck like it was nothing.]

[He shrieks and drops the document.]

[the intercom on his collar comes to life]

_Do not open that document Z-627. This expendable has only told you lies, do not trust them._

[Headquarters..]

_Dispose of the document and bring it back to us, we will keep it safe. As for that expendable, they will be dealt with shortly._

"He didn't do anything. He was falsely accused. Have you not read his file?"

*Amaris seemed genuinely surprised but still left and patched himself up*

[He pauses for a moment, before following Amaris outside.]

“He.. he was what.”

[The giant corvid stares at Amaris, the look on his face is nearly impossible to read.]

“But.. but they said. Even the doctors and scientists.. nurses.. all of them said..”

[His tail flicks with uncertainty]

“Do you have his document. It was one of the only documents I wasn’t able to get.”

[I have to see for myself, I am done taking others words for it.]

*He just sits there, bleeding out*

"He truly cares for you, he hopes you are safe..."

"How unfortunate things ended up..."

[He looks down and then there are tears. Tears falling from all four eyes.]

“Then.. then maybe our my sister would still be alive! But no. He just had to go and kill 9 people.”

[He curls a claw and looks back at Amaris, there is a mingled look of fury and pain.]

“There is.. a medkit outside.”

[please. Please leave me alone.]

“Take it and go.”

[This time he’s had enough and he tackles then to the ground, nearly crushing them.]

“JUST LEAVE. LEAVE ME ALONE. HE IS NOT MY BROTHER, WHAT DONT YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT ‘LEAVE’.”

[He snarls like a wild animal, all 4 eyes have red pupils now.]

[He throws Amaris across the room in a fury.]

“GET OUT.”

Z-627 (THE CORVID)

Z-627 is an entity that resides in the Blacksite. It is currently under the control of Urbanshade, security personnel have been given orders to not interact with Z-627. HQ must be contacted if any strange behaviour is seen by the entity, complete CONTROL is necessary. Z-627 has the appearance of a crow, body ending with a striped orange tail. It is around 15 ft tall and 45 feet long. Z-627 was created as a test experiment due to Z-13’s mass breakout prior. It is made out of multiple different creatures such as: Crow, Tiger, Great White shark, ███████, and the secretary bird. It has orders to kill Z-13 if spotted. Due to Z-13’s SCRAMBLER, Z-627 wears a collar on its neck capable of responding to HQ when near it. If buzzing noises begin to emit from Z-627’s collar, Z-13 is near. Z-627 is able to withstand bullets, this was put into place after HQ received news of Z-13 carrying a gun with it. (presumably after killing elite guardsman ███████) Z-627 and Z-13’s previous relation can be seen underneath this document.

Previously, Z-627 was also known as Ollie ███ Solace. Z-627 is unaware of this. This information is strictly to not be shared with Z-627. Around the year 2015, when Z-13 was first brought in, security reported seeing a little boy also being taken in. He was later to be found out as Z-13’s little brother who followed the police cars who brought Z-13 to the Urbanshade’s laboratory. The guards who did not see Z-627 also entering the grounds were used as experiments as punishment. Z-627 said he followed his older brother after his sister had committed ███ due to what the press had said about her brothers actions previously. Due to Z-627 finding out about where Urbanshade’s laboratories were located, they could not let him go. Head doctor ████ suggested that the child should be taken in for testing. Later that month they conducted multiple different tests on the 10 year old, before turning Z-627 into the experiment it is today only weeks later.

Z-627 is to never be let out of the Blacksite until it has successfully killed Z-13 and brought back the experiment’s corpse as evidence. Z-627 is unable to talk from its beak, but the collar as previously stated, allows Z-627 to speak from it. Z-627’s collar is also used to keep the entity under Urbanshades control. If Z-627’s collar breaks, any previous orders about leaving Z-627 alone must be forgotten. New orders are to “gun that bird down like it’s hunting season.” as stated by Doctor ████ who completed the experiments on Z-627. 

If these documents are shown to unauthorized personnel, you'll be put up for demotion, and any cover-up fees will be sent to your relatives.

[He stares at his document and opens it.]

[Ollie — Solace.]

[You are my brother.]

[Oh my god.]

“..Seb..”

[He can feel the hatred growing.]

[He can smell fear. The stench of it is overpowering.]

[Corvus approaches, there he sees a small child on the ground crying. She has antlers. Scientists are all around her.]

[Nelly.]

[He screeches and charges forwards, he doesn’t care who he hurts. He will protect his friend.]

[Call HQ one of the scientists say, stepping away. Z-627 was hostile, this was not good. Not good at all.]

“GET BACK.”

[Corvus shrieks, both his collar activating and his vocal cords straining as more bird like noises of fury came out of his throat.]

[He will not loose anyone else.]

[This massive beast stalks from out of the darkness. Is it friendly? You do not know. All four eyes stare at you unblinking.] [It has a collar on, the words Z-627 are imprinted on the side. A striped tiger shark tail swishes from behind as the Corvid clicks it’s beak.]

[will you run? Or will you stand your ground.]

Seeing something unfamiliar emerge from the darkness was, to say the very least, not exactly the most comforting thing to see. Nonetheless, Kari stayed put, feet feeling as if they were frozen to the ground. They opened their mouth to say something, anything.

“Ah — nice.. bird thing?”

The words were uncertain. Kari looked rather anxious all the while, one hand lifted up to their chest somewhat as they kept their eyes on the beast.

[It stops, clearly interested. Suddenly, the collar beeps and there is a voice. It is Corvus’s voice]

“You are not like the others are you.”

[despite there being no tone to the mechanical collar’s voice, Kari can almost feel the curiosity.]

“You look like the other one. But you are not him.”

[who knows who the other one Corvus is referring to. Corvus doesn’t seem aggressive for now, but his stance shows that there is room for attack if any Provokation is present.]

[Perhaps this could be a new friend? Or maybe it could be your worst enemy.]

[your decision will impact this choice.]

Kari slowly lowered their hand, just.. attempting to figure out what to do — What they could do or say to ensure their own safety. The beast didn’t necessarily seem unfriendly, as far as they could tell.. alas, the stance that it held didn’t provide comfort for her, either.

“Like.. who?” The words held a questioning, quizzical sort of tone. There was a hint of anxiety in their expression, but for the most part.. there was curiosity.

Kari paused, before going to speak again. Not once did they move, aside from their tail curling around their feet ever so slightly. “I haven’t seen anything like you before.” Another pause. “You look.. interesting. Pretty, sort of.” Far more kind on the eyes than the likes of the Anglers.

”That godamn bloody shopkeeper. Or as they called it, Z-13.”

[his feathers bristle almost like a cat’s fur when threatened. It is clear that Corvus does not like Sebastian at all.]

“But you are not him.”

[He squints his eyes to make sure he’s correct, he is so he stops.]

“I have orders to kill on sight.”

[So it belongs directly to Urbandshade.]

The shopkeeper. Someone she had certainly met once before, throughout her ventures in the Blacksite. They reached a hand up slowly, tucking a stray strand of hair behind their fin. “Kill on sight.” They repeated, slowly. “For the Shopkeeper?”

Not for them, they hoped. They were transformed, but.. an expendable. An odd predicament they’d found themselves in, admittedly.

Knowing that the beast belonged to Urbanshade wasn’t much of a comforting thing. The very company that had turned her into what she was now in the first place. They swallowed thickly.

[for his brother Z-13, yes.]

“Yes. Kill on site for Z-13.”

[All 4 eyes roamed across Kari’s body. Expendable clothing but they were an experiment? Something wasn’t adding up.]

“You are an experiment yet you wear expendable clothing. Why. Do you kill an expendable and take their clothing?”

[He asked, eyes narrowing. Though he would kill expendables from time to time, he would only do it if they provoked him. The expendables were only sent down here to get the crystal, headquarters had ordered him to help the retrieve it. And in the meantime, find where Z-13’s location was.]

Well, that much was.. better than being told that it was kill on sight for most anyone. They cleared their through, shifting their weight from one foot to the other as they stood there. It felt akin to walking on eggshells, speaking to the beast. One wrong move, and he could attack. Safe to say, they were not prepared to handle that.

“I am an Expendable.” They both looked, and sounded rather exasperated with the words. The word unfortunately remained an unspoken word, as much as she wished to say it.

“Sent down here to retrieve the Crystal, and bring it back to Urbansahde — just like the rest of us. I sure as hell didn’t kill anyone to steal clothes.” They hardly liked the damned uniform as it was.

”Other than the ruddy saboteur, I’ve not seen many experiment turned expendables running around.”

[He growls a little before sitting down onto his haunches in a less intimidating stance.]

“Crystal eh? Many have tried but none have succeeded except one who got to it, but he tried to eat the bloody thing.”

Well.. that much was to be expected, they supposed. It wasn’t as if Urbanshade had many.. willing experiments, in regard to the matter of turning them into Expendables. With the beast sitting down, Kari let out a sigh, seeming to ease up somewhat.

“I’m just.. roaming.”

Not quite going for the Crystal, but for something that worked for Urbanshade? She didn’t dare say that aloud. She was stalling. Just.. trying to wait for something else to happen. For something else to come along, to help. She certainly didn’t trust Urbanshade on keeping their hold of the deal that had been made.

“Not really lost. Just - keeping my eye out for things. Slowly making my way to.. um, where the Crystal is.” A partial lie.

[He raised an eyebrow, he could sense bluff]

“mhm.. just roaming you say.”

[Corvus narrowed all 4 eyes, but forced his shoulders to relax.]

”Then how many doors have you already been in this underground water prison?”

[The tip of his tail flicked, a warning sign]

“The crystal should be in maybe 30 more doors if I’ve calculated it correctly. But, you look hesitant. What is wrong?”

The inquiry had Kari tensing. The question.. it was one that she didn’t quite feel keen on answering. If she were to count the back and forth between the doors as she moved from room to room, only to backtrack.. well, the count would be high. Higher than she wanted to admit.

“Nothing, nothing is wrong!” Smile. Just smile. Act like nothing is wrong. You’ve done nothing wrong. “Just trying to wrap my head around the fact that I’m so close to the Crystal, is all. I’ve heard the Ridge is pretty dangerous! Having to.. aha, mentally brace myself to go through all that. I’ll retrieve the Crystal soon as I get there, and return back to Urbanshade. No biggie!”

[The panic in Kari’s tone was almost like a confession.]

“You LIE.”

[He screeched, rearing up and stomping his front legs down. His tail lashed in anger.]

“Mentally brace yourself? You will encounter what you have encountered here in there. They are angry, they want out. 100’s have tried and all have failed.”

[he chittered his beak in anger]

“Even so, I sense your anger and concern towards Urbanshade whenever I so much as mention it. Mind explaining?”

[Even though his collar has a robotic voice, there is menace in its tone.]
