Here's a great blog that is essentially Dental Terminology 101. There's a ton of great information about dental terms. Especially if you ever wondered what the letters and numbers meant. And, what is a sulcus anyway? This is a great resource, packed with information, and several illustrations
Cornerstone Dental in Knoxville, TN recently had the great pleasure of working with David Kortemeier and the design department at UT's Clarence Brown Theater in Knoxville by providing an exaggerated custom theatrical dental appliance for his roll as Nick Bottom in Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. It was a great challenge and a lot of fun to try to achieve the look that ended up really being a great addition in his transformation scene. www.whatasmile.com

Is Your 2015 Goal to Improve Your Health? Don't Forget Your Mouth!
It's True - Your Dental Health is a Key Part of Your Overall Health!
We all know that eating healthy, drinking water, exercising and getting an adequate night’s sleep are all important, but don’t forget that brushing, and flossing your teeth and having regular dental visits is a VITAL part of living a healthy lifestyle. It's true, your mouth is actually an integral part of your body. Poor oral health and the bacteria found in gum disease can be linked to everything from kids struggling in school, to Rheumatoid Arthritis and Alzheimer’s Disease and much more. The Mayo Clinic even refers to Oral Health as "A Window to Your Overall Health."
As you may be focusing on a healthy lifestyle as we dive into this new year, make sure that your dental health is included in your plans.
Tips for great dental health include:
Brush your teeth thoroughly for at least 2 minutes twice a day
Floss regularly
See your dentist every 6 months
Get recommended dental work done
Choose healthy snacks - ex: crunchy veggies
Many of our new patients haven’t been to the dentist in a long time. So, don’t let that stop you. If that sounds familiar, call us for a new patient exam today, and let’s work together to improve your lifestyle and restore your dental health. If you know you have a dental problem, ignoring it, hoping it goes away, or waiting to get it fixed can result in additional complications as far as risk of further damage, pain, and even cost.
You deserve to smile your beautiful smile, stress-free!
Dental problems do not go away without being addressed. The symptoms may may subside for a bit, but they typically return with a vengeance. Make sure you plan to address those dental problems before they become an emergency.

Sedation Dentistry for Knoxville - Sleep Through Your Dental Visit with In-Office Sedation
Among the most common phobias, visiting the dentist causes many people severe anxiety and stress. Often, fearful patients forego necessary dental care to avoid a visit to their dentist. If you find yourself feeling panicky at the thought of having your teeth worked on, you should know that a safe, comfortable relaxation method exists. Imagine resting soundly through your entire dental procedure and waking up refreshed with little to no memory of the visit. Even if it has been many years since you've seen a dentist and you have quite a bit of work that needs to be done, that’s exactly what it can be like for you. With Cornerstone Dental’s our in-office sedation, we can alleviate anxiety so you can face dental appointments with confidence.
