Just so you know, in Spain, they use morenos as in tanned. And the same goes with 'estar negro"' when you are extremely tanned (wether you are latino, mixed or white). It's not a Spanish slur. Translating expressions from a language without context and extrapolating it to another one is dangerous bc it can be misleading.

I couldn't give less of a fuck about Ester but I think it's important to not overuse the American glasses to interpret every language in the world

It’s actually wild how normalized this kind of behavior still is.

When Ester Exposito responds “yo estoy negra jajajaja” in a joking, dismissive way, it’s not just “humor” it’s a reflection of how casually Blackness gets reduced to an aesthetic, a punchline, or a temporary identity that can be put on and taken off. And that context matters even more when she’s previously posted herself singing the n-word.

That’s the issue:!! You don’t get to engage with Black culture when it’s fun, trendy, or profitable, while also ignoring the history, violence, and discrimination tied to that same identity. Saying something like that as a white woman, especially after using a racial slur, comes off as deeply tone-deaf at best, and blatantly disrespectful at worst.

And then there’s Aron Piper’s original comment, which already plays into colorist language (“morenos”), so the whole exchange just reinforces how loosely people treat race in these spaces.

It’s not about being “too sensitive.” It’s about accountability. You can’t separate language from its history just because you’re laughing. Especially when you’ve already shown you’re comfortable crossing that line.

everyone acting confused about why kylian mbappé would be into ester expósito is kind of funny to me. she’s young, famous, conventionally attractive, and very much his type — that part isn’t complicated at all.

they’ve actually had instagram interactions before years ago, but it didn’t seem to go anywhere back then. now the context is different: she’s reportedly in an open relationship and she followed him again after he had unfollowed her in the past when she didn’t respond to him.

also, ester doesn’t really seem like the type who would want to be kept hidden or quietly linked the way some of the women he’s been rumored to see in the past were. she has her own career, visibility, and brand. if anything, a public association benefits both of them — attention, relevance, and mutual clout.

so from a PR and celebrity culture perspective, it actually makes a lot of sense. also KM hides what he wants to hide, and shows what he wants to show.
