Move it people! Faster please! Sorry I’m pushing you but I have to get to my next class on time!
3 weeks into school & already 2 essays,2 midterms,1 report,1 presentation
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE INANIMATE OBJECT?
u
How long does it take you to take notes for a chapter of psych or anything really because it takes me foreverrrrrrrr D:
I didn’t study Psych so I’m not sure :( Split it up though! Do 1/5 of the required amount per week every night!
Wondering where to get past tests? I know past exams are in the repository but not so sure about tests.. Thanks!
Check campus academic societies: UTM Biology,Chemistry,Psychology offer packages. Also past students may have some!
What does it mean if it says enrolment is blocked on one of your courses but it says you are currently enrolled?!
The course is only open to students in a particular subject pOst. Sometimes a course gets blocked for enrollment while a department tries to figure out class sizes,etc..Seek department or registrar for most up to date advice :)

when someone tells me school starts soon
IS THERE A FROSH WEEK SCHEDULE ANYWHERE?!?! I DON'T WANNA GO FOR THE WHOLE WEEK :O
OMG I AM SO SORRY FOR THE SUPER LATE REPLY :( BUT YES THEY DO, UTMSU ALWAYS POSTS IT ON THEIR WEBSITE AND SOCIAL MEDIA PAGES.
When do we get our bus passes?
I'm super sorry for the late reply. Usually last week of Aug they begin for the regular year and last week of April for the summer session.
is it true st george students think theyre better than utm students? i thought utm students still get the downtown toronto experience so whats going on there
No, UTM students don't get the downtown experience unless people take courses downtown. But you can't take all your course downtown and in between commuting and studying, you probably won't get the full downtown experience.
St George students have more course options, more clubs/teams to join, more stuff going on after classes so they might think they're better than UTM.
uni stuff for a first yr lifesci student- most of this list is pretty general though
i do not know how to reply to replies so I hope you see this wings-scales-fire
talking to friends who are in the lifesci program, here's a basic list:
1. notebooks or loose leaf paper- math, chem and bio courses require note taking by hand in first year, unless you're super comfy making notes on a tablet
2. laptop/tablet - some profs post pdf notes so it's helpful if you have a laptop or tablet so you can refer to the notes quickly and easily
3. labcoat, goggles, gloves - the graduate students' society usually sells these items for a good price , prof poe will let you know
4. binder for lab stuff - either have one big binder with dividers or seperate binders for each course to organize the multiple handouts for labs and stuff. for chem, just have one big binder with your entire lab manual printed, hole punched and placed in it. remember to add a few sheets of lined paper in each binder.
5. pens, pencils, highlighters, eraser, highlighter, post it notes, flashcards.......but don't go overboard when buying these things. $tudent budget.
6. large, study backpack. lifesci kids often have multiple classes in a day so that means different notebooks and textbooks as well as laptop/tablet and personal items and lunches/snacks. invest in a good bag to get you through the year. leave the more fashionable handbags and purses for days when you only have one or two classes .
7. make a lab bag that contains hairties, lab coat, gloves, goggles . and a padlock/combination lock. keep an extra pen and some paper in it too. easy grab & go for all your lab days (you will have A LOT!)
8. get a lunchbag if you don't have one or figure out a way to pack everything into your school bag. utm food is unhealthy and expensive and you're going to be on campus for a long time so pack yourself a picnic!
9. textbooks (duh) - but try to negotiate cheap deals by buying used books cuz $tudent budget. also get past tests!! utm is all about past tests. use the past exam repository to download past exams (different from past tests) and do it soon and check throughout the term for more tests bc sometimes prof upload/remove tests as exams approach.
10. DAY PLANNER AND WALL CALENDAR. KEEP ORGANIZED. DON'T RELY ON YOUR PHONE CALENDAR UNI GETS TOO HECTIC.
parents told me to do back to school shopping
