My favorite things about this wild and magical collection by Dries Van Noten are The Cuts: the blazers, the ruffly appendages, and roomy fits. The Colors. I was jarred and moved by the combinations, rich bright tones complimented with queasy neutrals and pastels. The Wings: It feels like an un-ironic symbol for endless possibilities and dramatic ideas, or the desire to fly away, if only into your own world.
On the way to the after party!
After the show at Balmain, Paris Fashion Week.
A hand-painted macaron tower sits atop a case of delicate jaw-dropping patisserie.
A place for a croissant and to read about "le monde" at the marble countertop.
The Schermerhorn Building, built for the Schermerhorns in 1888. The Commercial Romanesque arches back up the quintessential outdoor dining patio. You might remember this as the location of Chinatown Brasserie, or further back, the Time Café.
Wine Tasting at the Lafayette, New York City. From Interview Magazine, "In creating the ultimate French eatery, Carmellini, working with his partner Luke Ostrom and chef de cuisine Damon Wise, left no baguette un-sliced. To relate his vision to husband-and-wife interior designers Roman and Williams, who also designed The Dutch, he showed them hundreds of pictures taken in France, from cheese to crockery to shop signs. The restaurant's aesthetic blends them all."
The Lafayette, New York City. A place to order a martini and look into your lover's eyes.
A collection of seashells drawn in Nantucket.
My Nantucket still life.
Tom Ford was not the only designer on the fringe, this is a look from Rachel Comey's Fall Winter presentation.
