regarding the "Carlos is chopped" post ... it really is interesting how peaceful your blog is after that post as opposed to the "ugly jannik" one 😅
i've always wondered why jannik's fans (some, not all) have this level of ..'insecurity'? or defensiveness when it comes to any "criticism" towards him. and they do it AGGRESSIVELY it's crazy.
As a carlos fan, i've noticed most of the fanbase really don't care about these kinds of comments; unless you talk about his tennis, perhaps that's where we draw the line 😅😆
idk .. that's just me tho. And yeah i noticed the clear distinction between the reactions of both posts and it is...... hmmmmmm..
Yeah I have no idea, but I do have some theories.
First of all, these don't apply to all Sinner fans because it's stupid to make blanket statements over a group of people. Some fans act a particular way and some act differently...none of these are 100% true about all fans. Also all of these are just my opinions.
I think that because Jannik doesn't have the same image of being the "face of tennis" like Carlos, some of his fans feel the insecurity/burden of defending him to the general public. Some of them feel that Jannik isn't as beloved, so any perceived insult or criticism is frustrating because it feels unfair that the top player in the ATP isn't being shown as much respect and flattery as he "deserves."
Also, Jannik got attacked and hated a lot because the doping accusation, and it still gets brought up on social media, so I think a lot of Jannik fans feel very put upon online already.
It seems to me that a lot of Jannik's fans have this mentality of -- we know he's a great guy (they don't actually know that, but they feel that they do) and he's an amazing tennis player, so why doesn't he get the same treatment as Carlos?
Their frustration over this makes sense to me. If I love a dish at a restaurant and I recommend it to you, then you say that you don't like it, of course I'm gonna feel butthurt. And it's adding salt to the dish (wound) if so many people love this other meal someone else recommended and were complimenting it in front of me.
BUT!!! The issue is that some Jannik fans then turn that hurt into aggression. This also makes sense to me. When someone feels defensive, a way of coping is by attacking the other person. It's not rational, but it's an understandable reaction. I mean -- I do it all the time when I get butthurt.
The thing is -- IDK what Jannik's fans think they'll get out of doing it. Let's say I truly thought Jannik was ugly (WHICH I DO NOT). If they go into my inbox and insult my looks, call me disgusting, etc., it's not like I'll be like...oh you're right. I was wrong. Jannik is the most good-looking person in the world.
All it does it confirm my bias that some of Jannik's fans are seriously unhinged boymoms.
Anyway. I'm glad I could call Carlos cute-chopped without anyone crawling in my asks about it.
