(&& peter):
“Sor-” Peter made a small noise and cut himself off. Honestly his gut instinct was to simply apologise for things almost immediately, it was an all but unbreakable habit by this point. He jolted a little when the other took hold of his hand (which was probably unattractively sweaty) and swallowed, “Y-yea,” he squeezed her hand hand, “S-sitting down sounds good.” Peter agreed, following her gaze to the chair, “It’s just so many people a-and it’s usually so quiet where I work and…” And he was too big of a baby to even handle a little yelling…so pathetic.
She would have said sorry too. Apologies fell from her mouth faster then she could control. She said it if she wasn’t in the wrong and she said it if she was. Sitting with Peter she kept hold of his hand and listened. Placing her other hand atop of theirs Mary shook her head. “There was a lot of people in there and it was just chaos, I didn’t like that all that much. But when you’re so used to the quiet, I can very much see how this could feel so very overwhelming. Maybe today you can take an early day and go home?
