Evelyn and Gerald get worried about Phantom dropping hints about how he died, and they get concerned and start digging deeper.
Evelyn sees some abused and traumatized victims in the hospital, so she knows the signs and what they mean.
Gerald is trained to be able to see small details and extrapolate it into the truth.
They both know that phantom is a trauma victim and he makes little "shocking" puns every time anything comes up about his death. Also he starts to freeze, flinch, or deflect anytime his life before death is brought up.
They always do their best to help him out.
Eventually Phantom is caught in a super bad fight with Vlad, and gets seriously injured. And as it's a habit now, he goes straight to the Nightingales to seek Evelyn's help. She, luckily, has the day off, so she is there and starts helping. But the thing is, it's such a big wound that he can't exactly keep conscious.
(So phantom figured out how to stay in ghost form before sleeping, but the thing is he has to consciously decide to stay in ghost form before he falls asleep, otherwise he goes human)
All Danny knew at that moment was pain.
Vlad got a lucky shot, but for some reason, the attack wasn't healing properly. It hurt more than it should.
Danny ran, but it was a blur.
He remembered Evelyn's shocked face, but not much more.
Evelyn is NOT going to let her new son die... again.
She was just watching television and mocking the doctor actors about the faulty medical practices when he crashed through the living room wall.
Well, he crashed, the wall is fine, he must have went intangible. "Phantom?"
She sat there stunned for a second before instincts kicked in and she checked over Phantom. Cataloguing the wounds.
Large abdominal wound... "Crap" Looks like a burn, but it is not entirely cauterized, needs pressure and stitches. Multiple lacerations and abrasions and contusions. And that's only from what I can see, I need to remove the clothes from the way. How about concussion?
"Okay, I need you to look at me, Phantom, c'mon just look at me." He just turned his head and passed out... Great.
Then there was a big flash of light emiting from young ghost. "What the..."
Then he was human... What? Wait, focus, he's hurt.
She raced to the kitchen to get the hefty first aid kit that they had. It was big for two main reasons. 1: she's a surgeon, so she can fix most of the small-medium sized injuries at home anyway by herself, which helps with things like hospital bills, and 2: Phantom. The second reason is coming into play right now.
She immediately got to putting pressure on the wound before putting in temporary staples around the wound to keep it together while she is stitching. She makes sure to get the special thread that Phantom gave her because normal stitches DISSOLVE. But other than that, she's able to fall into the rhythm of stitching. Biggest wound first. Then check for concussion with the small flashlight in the kit. He doesn't have one, good, then the rest of the wounds need stitches, then everything needs cleaned, for him because he doesn't know if he gets infections, and because ectoplasm isn't the safest chemical to touch.
Once everything is stitched, cleaned, and bandaged, and she's checked him over for the fourth time, she's able to sit back and wait for him to come to.
But that's when she's also able to think.
He isn't healing as fast as normal. He is HUMAN for goodness sake. Many of those wounds weren't that big by his standards because he usually heals faster. Is he healing slower because he's human? What turned him human? Does he know he's human?
Here we go, Danny is revealed to Evelyn :)
Also, I'm in the process of drawing the Nightingale family, and I will post it on the thread somewhere when it's done.
