‘ Are you a registered psychologist ? ‘ He questioned, raising an eyebrow back to the pink haired girl standing in front of him. ‘ Because, if not ? Then I doubt it. ‘ There was a light smile resting gently on his lips as Jughead spoke the words, sitting on the concrete underneath the bleachers as he slipped his bag off from his shoulders. He pulled out a bag of chips — the packaging oddly similar to that of the bags in the currently out of order vending machine which sat in the student lounge — before glancing back up to her. ‘ What are you doing out here ? ’
Piper laughed a little, reaching into her pocket to pull another cigarette from the box stashed in her jacket, placing it between her lips as she looked at him. ❝ If I was a registered psychologist, do you think I’d still be living here? ❞ She hummed, bringing her lighter to the cigarette, cupping her hand around it to stop the wind from blowing the flame out. Once she was done, she shoved the lighter back in her pocket, breathing in the smoke and looking back at Jughead.
❝ I’m getting my tan ready for the summer, ❞ she sarcastically spoke, rolling her eyes with a smile. ❝ My summer body isn’t ready just yet. ❞

he’s startled - no , taking a walk that passed by the high school was NOT a good idea , so jot that down ! charles is hardly aware of his surroundings , music blasting in his ear . he flinches , taking the earbuds out . “ sorry , where you saying something ? ”
Looking at the male, Piper raised a brow. He definitely didn’t look like a high school student. ❝ You look lost, ❞ she hummed, reaching into her pocket to pull out the box of cigarettes, holding it out to him, offering the unnamed male a cigarette. ❝ Need any help? ❞
ℙ — Standing behind the bleachers at the football field, Piper held a cigarette between her fingers as she leaned against the metal pole. She didn’t really care if anyone saw, since the worst that would happen is they’d ask her to leave for the day or she’d be suspended. It wasn’t the first time it had happened. And it probably won’t be the last time.
Her head didn’t move when she saw another pair of shoes near her. She just brought the cigarette to her lips, finishing it off before flicking it to the ground and stepping on it to put it out. ❝ Can I help you? ❞ She asked, raising a brow as she finally looked up.

“I shouldn’t be having the worries that I am at this stage of my life. It’s like this town is trying to age me up a lot quicker than normal.”
Piper raised an eyebrow at the boy, setting a mug of tea down in front of him. ❝ Are you having your mid-life crisis already, sweetheart? ❞ Piper teased lightly, sitting next to him on the only couch in her small trailer, though she turned her body to face him.
I’m back from hiatus ! Though I do think I’m coming down with the flu. Anyway. I’ll be on for the rest of the evening doing replies and starters and such. DM me if you’d like to plot !

Jughead felt insulted for a moment, not really recognizing the voice that had just spoken to him. He genuinely had no idea who he had run into until he looked up, recognizing the girl with the fading pink hair, the same which had sat next to him in their biology class, which had subsequently interrupted his writing. Though he had ended up not minding much, considering the philosophical conversation which followed.
‘ You know, I actually consider myself well-adept in the non-dumbass aspect of life, ‘ he said, the smell of coffee suddenly hitting his nose, glancing down to her hand that held a warm cup of the dark, bitter substance. ‘ Did you sneak out just to get coffee and then you came back ? ‘ He asked, raising an eyebrow at her. He found it sort of funny, honestly.
Keeping her eyes on the boy she had taken a liking to in the lesson they had spent together, she listened to his words, smiling at him. ❝ Whatever you saaay, ❞ she hummed in a rather sing-songy tune. ❝ At least you’re not as much of a dumbass as those guys are, ❞ she motioned to the jocks behind her, quirking an eyebrow at him. Dumbass was just a nickname for him and she wasn’t actually insulting him.
Raising both of her eyebrows as she listened to him, she took a sip of her black coffee as he asked about it. ❝ Mhm ! ❞ She hummed with a mouthful of coffee. Once she had swallowed it, she held out the cup to him. ❝ Care to partake in an extravagant tasting? ❞ She asked, a breathless laugh coming from her lips.

“Thanks, you seem like one of the few who aren’t,” she shrugged, meaning the few heads that had turned in Pop’s, noticing she was new and her pearls. In New York she would have welcomed this attention, but here in Riverdale this attention meant something else; that she stuck out and not in a good way. “I’m Veronica Lodge. Who would you be?”
Piper gave the girl a tight-lipped smile, her hands shoved into the pockets of the black jacket she was wearing. It wasn’t completely unusual to see such a rich looking teenager in Riverdale, though it was completely unfamiliar to herself. ❝ Piper- uh Piper McLean, ❞ she hummed. ❝ I’m guessing that you’re new here? ❞

It only took Joaquin a short moment to recognize the girl, her pink hair being a dead giveaway. His tense shoulders easily relaxed, and he reached forward to curl his fingers around the lighter, a familiar shape in his hand. “ And for stealing my propane, ” he teased back, reminding her of the way they had met eachother in the first place.
He waited a moment for her to sit down before he held his open box of cigarettes out to her, a normal exchange between the two of them. “ Want one ? ” He questioned, giving her a slight smile, a small curl of the corners of his lips.
Piper’s badly dyed and grown out hair was the centre of her aesthetic, really. Plus her and Joaquin spent a reasonable amount of time together for them to know each other rather well. ❝ Watch your back, babe. I might steal your next one too. ❞ She laughed a little, reaching for a cigarette and placing it between her lips. ❝ Thanks. ❞
While she waited for him to finish with her lighter, she leaned her elbows on the table. ❝ So, Northside High. Thoughts? ❞ She asked, raising an eyebrow at him.

“Valid. if they really want students to be more interested in gym, then they should branch it into different things. I’d be less likely to avoid it if I could dance the entire time, ya feel?” Jasmine laughed a bit and shook her head at the offer of the cigarette. She’d smoke, only when she was really feeling it, but right now she wasn’t. “It’s fuckin’ true, you know, it got ten times worse surveillance wise since we all arrived here. It’s like they’re worried we’re going to do something bad.” she teased the situation with a roll of her eyes.
“Anyone giving you any shit, babe? I can beat ‘em up if they are.”
Leaning her head back against the wall, Piper took another drag of the cigarette, looking away from Jasmine as she blew the smoke out. ❝ I just personally don’t like any type of exercise or sport, but definitely. Have you thought about joining the cheer team or whatever? ❞ Piper looked back at Jas, a small smile on her lips. ❝ They’re just waiting for one of us to slip up so they can project how bad the Southsiders are and crap like that. It’s all petty and pretentious. ❞
Smiling at the girl’s protectiveness, Piper shook her head. ❝ Just the uptight Northsiders, but that’s nothing new. You know how it’s gonna be. ❞
jashartley:
Jasmine hated to admit that she got overwhelmed incredibly easily in regards to being back at Riverdale High. The point of leaving the Northside was for the fact that Jasmine wouldn’t be back there - and alas, here she was. So instead of attending math ( which was a useless subject anyway, no one could ever tell her any different ) she decided to just chill behind the building. A lighter in her hand was being used as her thumb flicked it on and off. She didn’t actually smoke. But there was something soothing about having a grip on the lighter.
She wasn’t alone for long though because Piper was suddenly in front of her and she looked up at the blonde with a smirk. “Avoiding math because it’s useless as fuck.” she laughed before patting the spot next to her “I see I’m not the only one who decided that skipping was more beneficial than warming up a seat in class, huh?”
Northside High was all new to Piper, which meant it was a bit of a challenge to get used to. Because they both knew Southside High was anything but strict. Piper was often leaving classes to go have a smoke, but now she had to cut down and carefully choose when she was going to skip class to have a smoke. It seemed Riverdale High’s principal was constantly prowling the halls too. He seemed to know the students’ every move.
Chuckling, Piper made her way to sit down beside Jasmine. ❝ Avoiding gym because it’s useless as fuck. ❞ She grinned at the girl before holding out the cigarette to offer her a drag. ❝ This school is under some heavy surveillance. It’s so hard to sneak out. ❞ She rolled her eyes, pushing her fingers through her hair.

ℙ — Making her way out of the school gym even though it was the middle of her class, Piper grabbed the packet of cigarettes she kept in the inner pocket of her jacket, pulling a singular cigarette and her lighter out before shoving the packet back in her pocket. She hated gym class anyway, so missing it was no biggie at all. Plus, she needed a smoke. She usually got jittery sometime in the middle of the day, which meant it was time for a smoke break.
With the cigarette between her lips, though it wasn’t lit yet, Piper made her way around the back of the gym, lighting it as she rounded the back corner. Though she wasn’t expecting to find Jasmine there too. ❝ Hey there, doll face, ❞ Piper murmured, breathing in the smoke before pulling the cigarette from her lips. ❝ What’s up? ❞
What is your thing, then? Complex female characters.

Waiting in Pop’s for her first order, as her mother had suggested this place, she was surprised to see that the place was clean, and chic. Whilst scrolling through Instagram, she received a call from one of her obnoxious New York friends. “No I won’t be able to make it - I told you, I’ve moved,” Veronica scoffed, before repeating herself loudly, “I said NO, I won’t be going!” After quickly ending the call, she turned around at the person waiting behind her, “Sorry, was I being too loud?”
Letting out a sigh, Piper had been standing in Pop’s for about 5 minutes now and it had been quiet for the most part, until the raven-haired girl in front of her had started to shout, which made her tense up a little. She didn’t exactly like loud noises, but always managed to get over it somehow. ❝ Just a little bit, but it’s cool. No judgement. ❞ She pushed her fading hair out of her face, offering the tiniest smile to the other girl.

Moose was walking around near Sweetwater River. It was sun down, and he probably should have been home by then, but he was in complete shock that this was where Jason had actually drowned. With bad luck surrounding the woods, he knew he should leave, but it was peaceful there, and Moose was enjoying his alone time. Just then, he heard the bushes behind him rustling. “Who is that?” He wondered out loud.
Piper had been making her way back to the Southside and had decided to cut through the trail by Sweetwater River. She hadn’t meant to startle the male, but she found it quite funny how on edge everyone was. ❝ Calm down, tough guy, ❞ she hummed, holding her hands up in mock surrender, ❝ just passing through. No need to freak out and get your panties in a twist. ❞

With a huff, Joaquin tossed his light bag onto one of the picnic tables that dotted the area between the school and the football field. He pushed a calloused hand through his hair as he practically threw himself onto the bench of the table, inhaling the fresh air deeply, his eyes falling shut with the force of it. He had really underestimated just how hard it would be to attend Riverdale High, not even considering the fact that they would have a whole memorial for Jason Blossom. He couldn’t stand seeing the pictures of him dotting the halls, and so he was skipping class, trying to calm himself down. He shifted in the wooden seat, smiling ever so slightly when he felt the press of cardboard against his flesh. Reaching into his pocket, he produced a box of cigarettes, and soon there was one balancing between his lips. Too busy patting his pockets in search of his lighter, he didn’t even realize that he was no longer alone, not until their feet came into view, making him startle and look up quickly with a slightly sheepish smile. “ You wouldn’t have a lighter I could bum, would you ? ”
Piper chuckled, her hands shoved into the jacket that was once her mother’s and now her own. She could feel the lighter in her pocket— and since the two were neighbours, she had bummed lighters and cigarettes off him all the time. With a shake of her head, she pulled out the lighter. ❝ Oh, absolutely not. ❞ Piper never left home without her lighter OR her cigarettes. Otherwise, she was in for an anxiety-ridden day.
Holding out the lighter to him, she kept her other hand in her pocket, moving to sit down once he had taken the small object. ❝ This is payback for me stealing your lighter last night. Which I think you left on the steps to the trailer. ❞
