* You hear a passing conversation.

[ I used to write a lot on these walls with my chalk. I used to draw a lot of pictures too to pass time because I couldn’t talk with anyone. ]

[ Talking was so hard. Monsters have different levels of voice and I would get drowned out easily in a crowd because I have such a meek voice. Writing was easier — if someone paid attention to what I wrote. ]

[ I remember one day this kind monster came up to me when I was drawing on these walls, complimenting my pictures. Upon finding out that I couldn’t talk, he started to write on the wall before me — it was the first time I ever witnessed someone attempt to communicate through writing. ]

[ We wrote for hours, covering the Waterfall walls in colorful fonts and palettes until all of the chalk had withered away into dust. It was beautiful — like a canvas full of the rainbow. We laughed about it. He brought a new set of chalk the next day and we continued to fill up nearby walls. ]

[ Interestingly enough . . . I don’t think I’ve ever heard him speak either. ]

* The sound of a waterfall is loud yet tranquil, though you lack an umbrella.

* Just when you began to turn back and search for one, the rabbit appears with an umbrella in hand, stopping just before you.

* There’s a moment of awkward tension — but she then slowly offers it.

Accept the umbrella ?  * YES     NO  ________________________ Outsiders don’t normally venture this far , specially when the head of the Royal Guard lives nearby . Of course one can’t stay cooped up forever , and while this area brings a sense of tranquility there’s people like the brunette who come here solely to mediate .  Listen to the echo flowers , and whisper her feelings among the swaying petals .  It’s what happens today though that comes as more or less a surprise , the bunny . One who seems concerned about her getting swept away by the current , to which she appreciates .  ❝ Merci . ❞

* This was an odd looking one. They bore no bushy tail nor fur. So what were they ? What type of monster are they ?

* Were they even a monster at all ?

* Perhaps a shaven one. Yes, that must be it. They are a purely shaven monster with no fur — save for the hair. That would explain the peachy tint. Like shearing a sheep.

“ Mhm ! “

* A simple retort, then a point toward the castle in the far distance.

* Penelope’s head tilted in question, giving the silhouette of the structure a nod before nodding back at the shaven monster.

❝ The castle ?  ❞

Of course that’d be any human’s destination , but considering this one had never ventured beyond the falls she doesn’t quite understand the other’s gesture aside from pointing out obvious indication it can be seen in the distance .  A brief flutter from her appendages shakes any leftover mist gathered from the babbling brook , still a bit moist from her travels .  ❝ Oh I’m not , going there I just come to collect a few freshly budded Echo Flowers for my friends !  ❞

* Oh.

* Tilting her head to the opposite side, Penelope hummed in thought. This could be something she could help with. Yes, this is a simple activity.

* Pointing at the other — then herself — then gesturing to the echo flowers on the far right, the bunny attempted to ask if she’d like some company on her travels.

* Paws were clasped together enthusiastically, hoping to be ACCEPTED into the small party of one. The more the merrier !

* Oh no, he’s backing away — did she scare him ?

* Her paws lower slowly as a crestfallen expression takes to her features, floppy ears flattening as if scolded. This was not her intention.

* Everything is going oh so horribly wrong here.

“ Ah — “

* Shaking her head, the Darkner then makes a writing gesture on her palm as if writing pencil to paper, non - verbally asking him if he possessed anything to scribble on.

* She then gestures to her mouth — zipping it.

She hadn’t attacked him yet. It would have been so easy to destroy him, given her much larger size, but she hadn’t taken the opportunity to introduce his face to the pavement. He took this as a sign that she probably wasn’t going to do that.

He tipped his head to one side, struggling to process her request. She clearly could not speak, that much he had deduced.

* IF I HAD [[Papper]] AND [Delicis Pencil] I WOULD BE * [[SELLING]] [[SELLING]]!!! * BUT I DO HAVE…

He fished around for something, before pulling out a greasy Darkburger wrapper (sans burger) and offering it up at her.

* THIS!!! It ‘S YOUrS 4 THE [Low Low Price Of] FREE!!!

He flashed an award-losing smile that dissolved into a meek expression as quickly as it had formed. Even he knew this wasn’t what she wanted or needed.

* At the very least, it made her giggle.

* ACCEPTING the greasy wrapper, Penelope gave it a funny look before wiping the excess grossness off on the wall, now slipping out her fancy pen to scribble on the rather small wrapper. She’d have to write . . . smaller . . . to fit more words in, but beggars can’t be choosers.

* Flipping the wrapper around, the bunny knelt down and offered it to him,

[ Why are you nervous ? I want to be friends. I don’t want to hurt you. ]

* He seems wary to be here.

* But this place is your HOME. Waterfall has always been the solution to your worries, the serene atmosphere a blessing to the senses and mind what with the faint white noise of water and whispering lilies. Surely others can harbor different opinions on the matter, especially when riddled with distress and pain, but Penelope was never one to allow another to wallow in despair in solitude.

* Loneliness had always been an anchor on her heart. She understood it well enough.

* Gently running a paw through the werehare’s gorgeous fur, flux fur bristled up against his real coat, floppy ears draping over the male’s neck. Continuing the petting as he snarled, Penelope began to hum in his own ear, tugging him closer.

“ . . There . . there . . . “

* A very soft, meek voice. She was much smaller compared to him — the werehare could effortlessly use her like a dog toy if he so wished.

* But she trusted the creature enough to not do so.

The large hare let out a low growl even as he was pet, but it was softer. Right now he more just tolerated her instead of snapping and biting. Alan stared at her, wondering why she was doing this, why she was touching him, petting him. Wasn't she afraid? He was confused. He didn't like being confused. Still, he'd see where this would go since he didn't reel threatened at all.

* No fear here — at least, not enough to make her run away.

* Most folk were afraid of her due to her uncanny appearance and staggering height. If anything, she feared them more than they feared her.

* For some unexplainable reason, she felt the compel to comfort this large being rather than treat him like approaching a feral animal.

“ Mm — “

* Slipping out her journal, Penelope scribbled on a clean sheet of paper, turning it around for him to see a neat cursive,

[ Why are you angry ? Are you injured anywhere ? ]

Something was wrong. Very wrong.

He could practically smell the anxiety coming off of this strange, gargantuan Darkner (if that was what she was). That wasn’t good! People who were off-put by his mannerisms usually turned around and reacted violently toward him.

But what could he do about it? Aside from suddenly growing very quiet, shutting his mouth and backing away slowly, visibly deflating. From experience, it was his volume that scared people. If he made himself as small and quiet as possible, it might prevent him from getting punted or yelled at. “As quiet as possible”, unfortunately, was still loud enough to wake the dead.

* NO DEAL??? * 1 KROMER???

"Oh...Um...Hello." He looked over at the other bunny with a kind smile. She looked new. "Pleased to meet you, miss. Are you new here? My name's Alan."

A vigorous nod in confirmation, then a paw being held out. Upon closer inspection, she wasn’t an ordinary bunny — no, she resembled a decorative doll one would find in their grandmother’s cozy house.

Another thump, hoping to speak more through actions.

* That is one small puppet man.

* The tall bunny doll is 7’3.

* She towers over him, staring and twitching her ears curiously.

Small in this case was very small. This particular Spamton stood no taller than 3'6, most of that height being his oversized head.

He was currently in the process of trying to change that, widening himself and fluffing up to try and appear bigger than he was. Having something so big looming over him, staring at him in utter silence had stricken him into nervous silence in turn. Beneath the shroud of quiet, he quaked, as if ready to scream, run and void his bowels in no particular order.

Instead of doing any of those, he steeled himself, stood his ground and did what he was born to do.

* GONNA JUST ST * STAND THEy 'RE OR [BUY]?? * [[BUYMORE]]??? SPECIL [Amazing Deals This Weekend Only!] ON [[S.Potion]] AFFECTS [Health] VERY MUCH!!! * ONLY 56 78 965 2 KROMER!!! * YOU CANOT REFUSE [Deals So Good I'll] MySELF!!!

* Oh. He talks funny. He talks very funny. The little thing talks as if he’s in a hurry to be somewhere — but by the looks of it, he’s got nowhere to even be.

* This baffles the poor bunny doll.

* What’s even worse, he seems afraid of her staggering height, which only frustrates her further when she’s more scared of him than he is of her.

* This will be a challenge.

“ Mm — ! “

* Waving her stubby paws frantically, the monster has not the slightest damn clue what a ‘ Kromer ‘ even is and why he’s charging her such an incredulously high price in the first place. She’s heard about scam artists before in the Dark World but this ? This is an entirely new level of what the hell.

* He’s right, though. She literally cannot verbally refuse. And that, of course, makes her anxiety sky rocket as the tall monster waves her paws even faster in denial, letting out noises of distress as if her mouth had been duct taped.

Bundled up in their purple raincoat, also a gift from their roommate back in the city, Cosmo decided to go explore a city not to far from the town they’re traveling in. Cosmo shivers from the cold rain until an older rabbit offers to share her umbrella with them. “Hmm? Uh, Hello.”

Hesitant, Cosmo takes a few steps under the umbrella. Replying in a soft-spoken voice to not startle her. “Oh, thank you...” Cosmo sneezes due to their 5 minutes of being exposed to the freezing air around the waterfalls.

* What a tiny little thing. Penelope presumes they’re a child by their size, thus deciding to be more gentle and soft.

* The sneeze catches her off guard however — and very briefly, for only a split second, her third eye shoots open in utter astonishment before snapping closed again.

* Shuddering and covering the eye with a trembling paw, the rabbit utters an awkward giggle in response.

it wasn’t the first time the skeleton had dealt with one who couldn’t exactly be called the paragon of a chatterbox, but he somehow made do. with sans’ impressive observational abilities, he could have a conversation with another by reading their reactions alone.

she wanted to speak… but clearly, that was hard. he didn’t know the reason– didn’t care for it either. to each their own applied in spades when it came to the skeleton. so the lady’s next attempt at striking up a chat was getting him to speak of the comic book instead.

❝ this? ah. comic book by humans ‘bout a jester that’s uh, as creative as he’s evil. pretty interestin’ stuff, if ya got an eye for the macabre and strange, that is. ❞ he paused, studying the bunny’s anatomy before flashing her a playful wink. ❝ …or three. ❞

* Haha. Very funny. An eye joke. Like she hasn’t heard that before.

* Sighing quite loudly in response, Penelope brushed off his jest and instead leaned closer to get a better look at the pictures, her ears twitching more frequently in interest.

* Oh. There’s blood in some of these panels. Now she’s drawing back in disdain, giving him a judging stare.
