Her heels clicked rhythmically against the asphalt. Trailing aimlessly along side the faded yellow dividing lines. It was mid morning yet. The rays of orange and yellow had not yet peeked from over the tree line. Leaving the sky and empty royal blue. The pines to the left and right of passage left mangled shadows at her feet as she carried on.

Her doe eyes scanned the scene. Silently hoping for recondition, a sign— anything. But It’d been far to long. To many life times ago. There was no familiarity to the naked eye. But it still felt the same. An invisible map charted under her feet. She knew exactly where she was. With every blink of her eyes see could see it— the days of humanity vibrant. For just a 1/3 of a second the asphalt fell away, the trees curled together, and the air felt fresher. But they vanished as quickly as they’d come. Chipping away what crumbs of humanity still lingered.
Her steps slowed to a stop. Just as the light crept across the sky. The darkness of retreating to back to the shadows. Making way for its enemy— Her enemy. Again she was met with a torn, and faded memory of the past— a brief flicker of feeling sparked in the blacked heart of hers. And she missed it. Like an old friend. She missed the suns warmth, its comfort. How she would’ve wasted away in front of it if she’d had the chance. But as the subtle rays graced the olive skin of her hands and face they offered no comfort— no warmth. And the feeling faded. The shimmer of hope dashed into a million pieces for what must have been the trillionth time.
The ring on her right hand glimmered under the suns kiss. Her shield against natures hatred. She was an abomination. From the moment she first opened her eyes, she was a plague. A curse upon the innocent world— A presence doomed to live a thousand lives— From her, the predatory species was born.

she doesn't expect it... a girl who's face has ruined her family's life, time and time again. she never knew how to feel about Tatia, of course, there was always e n v y. that feeling was more prominent than the rest... there may have also been a little respect, that she could make men fall in love so easily... then there was a deep, burning hatred, for she is the one who condemned them to this immortal life. and it may have been fun and games for a century or two, but their past selves were just a memory, and now Rebekah would give anything to be human again, to have died when she was supposed to. to have grown up and fell in love, birthed children of her own... it was torn away, by a mother's selfish love, a father's twisted ways and a hope.
she'd hated Katherine, her arrogance had been irritating, her games boring and honestly, she was tacky. there had been many times when Rebekah desired to tear him limb from limb, but with Elijah's love and desperate need for the returned, how could she? after all, wasn't it all she wanted too?
and then there was Elena, her hatred ran deep and there was nothing... perhaps there was a time when Rebekah could picture, finally, a friendship with another girl, one that wouldn't be ripped from her grips before it had a chance to grow... but she'd been the one to rip it apart, when she drove that dagger through her back. oh well... maybe she was better off alone.
the girl in her eye line makes her snarl, a ripple of jealousy for the doe-eyes and beautiful features. but it's not the worst... and hadn't Elijah set his eyes on another?
''who the bloody hell let you crawl back from hell?''
