Fire at Shop Leaves Citizens Ablaze with Confusion

A small fire broke out at Calling Card, a fortune telling and trinket shop located on Amity Road, shortly after 12pm noon on Monday, local officials report.  

The fire caused minimal damage and seemed to extinguish itself after mere moments of being ablaze, and witnesses say the flames erupted rather suddenly.  “It was lit!”, one patron recalled.  

Fire officials are investigating the cause of the blaze.  Anyone with information is urged to contact the local authorities at [phone number].

The abandoned vehicle of Teagan Myrick was found on Dark Score Lake late tonight by a jogger. He noticed it was the only car in sight and that no other people were around, and decided to call it in. Authorities arrived to have the car towed, only to find her belongings still in the vehicle. Along the items found were: a wallet with identification, a cellphone, keys, and a plethora of water bottles.

Police cannot find any relatives or emergency contacts for Myrick, and are seeking help from the public. Foul play is suspected, but there is no concrete evidence. If you recognize this woman, please contact the police immediately.

Break In and Robbery at Local Aquarium

This past evening, Angelique’s Aquatic Adventure was broken into. The establishment will be closed until further notice as they clean up some of the property damage. It seems no fish were hurt during this break in and no money was stolen. The only thing missing comes as a bit of a surprise. Only the octopi that were on exhibit are missing. 

The security guard on duty wasn’t able to provide any identifying features of the perpetrators. Anyone who has any information regarding the break-in is encouraged to reach out to WCPD.

[After much consideration, Cass went with the ‘Baby Yoda’ option for her entry. Because she’s definitely not an artist and also got distracted at least five times during its construction, the sculpture isn’t super well defined, but she likes to think people will be able to tell what it is, anyway. It’s all in the ears. They’re very distinctive.]

“… Is obviously a Kelpie.” Sandcastle Entry by Macleod. 

[The entry is a Kelpie surrounded by sculpted water, with seaweed for hair and candles for eyes. If you ask about the candles, the creator will simply light them both and prance around the entire structure. At night, sometimes you can catch her doing just that, alone.]

“Death Hides in the Trees” Sand Sculpture Contest Entry Metzli Bernal’s entry

[the creator spent hours off and on the sand, spending only five to ten minutes at a time on it before quickly running away. Many onlookers, most drunk, found the sculptor to be anxious, skittish, and jumpy. After much threatening, All agree that the artist is fine, though.]

"Fleas Circus" (Sand Sculpture Contest entry)

[During the planning of this entry to the lifelike category, the agreed-upon concept was “circus shiba.” Unfortunately, one of the cooks spoiled this broth by forgetting what a shiba looks like. Several passersby have shared that they overheard the two artists screaming at each other, most probably when they realized the error. Well, the woman was screaming at the guy who was laughing his heart out. Until the woman started chasing him with her slippers.]

[It’s a coyote with a dead bird in its mouth, because of course it is. Why a coyote? Well. Don’t worry about it.]

[The entry has a pretend gate built around it in sand, with a little flag planted next to it. The T-Rex sculpture itself is about fifteen feet long, with a two foot buffer around everything, dug into the ground. It’s not the most realistic, but it does look enough like a T-Rex for someone to recognize it. A lot of effort and pride was obviously put into it and there’s even a smilie face carved into the sand underneath it]

Erected beside Metzli's masterpiece, as promised, Milo has taken his usual approach of making his roommate rue the day they decided to take him in. Credit to Silas for the photo, who like a loyal, and loving boyfriend, agreed to stay behind when dawn came so that he could snap a shot in the morning sun. Milo wanted that aesthetic lighting, you know.

It's an alligator. An alligator eating someone, that much should be obvious. While Silas lacked the skills necessary to achieve any sort of realism with the sculpture, he at least hoped it'd make someone laugh.

SIX SLAIN IN BAR ON OUTSKIRTS OF TOWN

Members of the WCPD have confirmed that late last night at a bar on the outskirts of town called Nigel’s Tavern there was a brutal mass-murder. Five patrons and one bar employee were found viciously slayed. Authorities have yet to release if they have any suspects in the case or how many people they think may have caused this carnage. They are asking, however, that anyone with information about what happened at Nigel’s come forward and call their tip-line. 

The owners of Nigel’s Tavern have posted a $5,000 reward for any information leading to the apprehension of those who’ve done this. Nigel Hanley, the owner, has said that individuals may contact him directly if they have questions about the incident. The WCPD, however, are requesting all questions or tips be directed to them.

Family Found Massacred at Campsite

THURSDAY, JAN. 25th--

This morning a hiker came upon a horrific scene of a family’s campsite. The bodies were strewn all about the site and the attack seems to have been made by some sort of animal. Local authorities say it was likely an angered or hungry bear, disturbed from its hibernation. The Sheriff commented that this “was one of the worst scenes he’d been to. It was like whatever did this enjoyed it.” 

Authorities are quarantining off the are until further notice, and encouraging people to steer clear of the path north of Candleton Cemetery, where the attack occurred.

The local church is going to hold a vigil for the family this Saturday night and encourage any and all to attend.

Funeral Director Slain In Cemetery

Authorities have opened a murder investigation after a decapitated body was found Friday evening in Strawford Park. A spokesman with the White Crest Police Department said the body was found by Detective Marley Stryder shortly after 8pm. 

The victim has been identified as Erin Nichols, funeral director and owner of Nichols’ Funeral Home.

No suspects in Nichols’ murder have been named. Further information about the investigation is not available at this time. WCPD is encouraging anyone with information about the case to contact the department immediately.

For sale: One scarf

Scarf is in pristine condition, never intentionally worn. It appears to be made of cotton, though I cannot check the tag, and it will keep its new owner warm in the winter. The pattern on it produces an optical illusion that may make the scarf appear to move on its own. 

Also included: one small terrarium, and a heavy rock to set on top, for scarf storage.
