My heart is aching. I’m tired of reading about our favorite queer television series getting the axe. A League of Their Own is phenomenal. This show won “Outstanding New TV Series” at this year’s GLAAD Awards, not to mention nominations from the NAACP Image Awards and the Queerties. I don’t understand. Studio executives will blame it on the strike. Don’t take the bait. These execs refuse to negotiate. Once the writers & actors/actresses get what they FULLY DESERVE (rant for another day) maybe someone can pick up this series. There’s so much more to tell.

After a week of scrolling past one of the most talked about shows, I finally decided to watch the first episode last night. Seven hours later I realized this is the content I’ve been craving. A League of Their Own is perfectly executed. From the cinematography, to the music selection, and let’s not forget the character development. Pure perfection! The last connection I had to a show and its characters was Batwoman 💔. This show felt… different. I’m searching for suitable adjetives. Maybe it’s the way I connected with Max finding her identity & community later on in life. I’m proud that LGBTQ+ teens have representation. I’m 29 and there weren’t many queer characters I connected with 15 years ago. Seeing that made me fall in love even more. Not to sound dramatic but this show has awakened something in me. I can’t pinpoint exactly what it is but I feel… comfort. At ease. With that being said, I’m going to continue to have this series on repeat. Please join me in doing the same.

I’ve been trying to find the right time to create this post. Spoiler alert: there never is. At first, I was going to detail each stage of grief I experienced when I heard the news that Batwoman just aired its final season. What’s interesting is that the people that either stopping watching after season 1 or didn’t watch at all were glad to see it end. I have a theory as to why that’s the case. And since some are also following this hashtag, I’ll continue to irritate them even more. If you’re one of those people, feel free to stop anytime. This post isn’t for you.

Not to sound too dramatic, but this show was the only program that aired where I truly saw myself in a character. Hell, I saw a love interest that LOOKS like the women I’m interested in. Two black lesbians that were the LEAD in this show. That’s powerful. I’ll be 30 next year and I am not exaggerating when I say I didn’t see this often growing up. I discovered this amazing show and immediately became enamored. So yes, disappointment is an understatement to describe how I felt April 29th.

This Save Batwoman campaign is a game changer. Networks take notice when fans show this much passion. I believe the heads over at HBO are listening. Javicia is on board. I’m proud of this show and I’ll continue to stream on HBO Max. Please join me in doing the same.
