💙 Edge of Creation by Bruce Omori on 500px ○ 800✱1200px-rating:99.9 ☀ "Molten lava cascades over a 30 foot cliff, creating new land at its base, and being able to stand at the edge to witness this occur has been nothing short of a privilege… and a hair raising experience… As two of my tripod legs were less than an inch from the overhanging edge, the result of a collapse at that point would have been… less than desirable. : ).“ Photographer: Bruce Omori, Hilo, USA
Sixteen hours into a transplant operation at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, surgeons finish the intricate task of removing the face from an organ donor (a woman who had died 3 days prior). Awed by the sight and by the gravity of their work, the team falls suddenly silent as staff members document the face in between its two lives. The surgeons would spend 15 more hours attaching the face to Katie Stubblefield, a girl who had blown up her face at 18 yrs old using a gun in a failed suicide. (Source)
Organ/tissue donation can do so much good
That’s why I asked my loved ones to donate all they can of me, cremate the rest, and spread me in the woods
My God… It’s dark, morbid, even. And yet amazing. Interesting… I’m in this mixed feeling of awe-stricken and what the fuck.
This is incredible. How much we take for granted.
After the remnants of Hurricane Florence passed over New Jersey, USA last month, the Sun came out in one direction but something quite unusual appeared in the opposite direction: a hall of supernumerary rainbows. Supernumerary rainbows only form when falling water droplets are all nearly the same size and typically less than a millimeter across. Then, sunlight will not only reflect from inside the raindrops, but interfere, a wave phenomenon similar to ripples on a pond when a stone is thrown in.

Ever Wondered How Emperor Penguins Survive in Temperatures of −40°C ?
Their feathers are densely packed, and have in fact the highest contour feather density of any bird, allowing them to maintain a constant body temperature of 38°C in freezing waters.
Depsite previous reports that filoplumes and plumules aka.downy feathers, are absent in penguins, new research has found the presence of both feathers in the penguin’s plumage. It was assumed before this that afterfeathers were the sole insulation component in the penguin’s plumage.
These downy feathers are about four times denser than the afterfeathers of the bird and play a key role in the insulation of penguins.
