Volunteers hand out candy, T-shirts to get students involved in election

Many students at Virginia Commonwealth University were uninformed of the gubernatorial election and the candidate who were running for this election. Student volunteers set out to bring awareness to others that about the issues and candidates in this race. What is the right age for a child to have a mobile device.

With the recent passing of Black Friday, many spent numerous amount of money shopping. How many went out to cellular phone companies to purchase mobile devices?  Were parents buying mobile devices for their children or for themselves? With  the further advancement of technology, children yearn for devices at an early age. What is the appropriate age for a child to have a cellular device?This is the latest solo story I am working on for the VCU iPadJournos mobile and social media class.

Women will decide the election for McAuliffe and Cuccinelli

Many issues played a factor in the gubernatorial race this year, but  the most talked about issue was women's health.Women's health was one of the issues that both candidates were concerned about during this election. As the election drew to a close, it was apparent that women could be the deciding factor in the race.

Election Night Coverage of Robert Sarvis

Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis made a name for himself this year during the gubernatorial race by gaining a lot of recognition as a Libertarian. Although  his hopes of becoming governor of Virginia did not come true, his spirit was still high as he spent election night with family, friends and supporters at The Tobacco Company Club in Shockoe Slip.

State Republicans calling to have McAuliffe investigated

Several of Virginia’s state Republicans are calling to have Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe investigated. They claim McAuliffe failed to disclose information about investing in a Rhode Island estate planner who tried to profit off sick individuals with an insurance scam. McAuliffe reportedly did not file this on his state economic disclosure form the year he invested in the estate. Read the whole story here on The Virginian Pilot.

Herring plans to reverse opinions of Cuccinelli if elected attorney general

Democratic state senator, Mark Herring, from Loudon County considers himself to be the less partisan candidate in the race for Attorney General. Herring is running against Republican, Mark Obenshain, state senator from Harrisonburg. Herring says that he plans to overturn the lawful opinions signed off by Cuccinelli regarding abortion clinics and homosexuals.

Cuccinelli claimed Sessoms endorsement of McAuliffe as a trade off

Cuccinelli accuses Mayor of Virginia Beach, Will Sessoms, of endorsing McAuliffe in return for his support to expand the light rail. Within a few days of Sessoms’, endorsement, McAuliffe  unexpectedly decided to extend the light rail to Norfolk Naval Station and to the Oceanfront. Read the full article on the website PilotOnline

Gubernatorial candidates fight over jobs and taxes

Ken Cuccinelli and Terry McAuliffe are debating over tax cuts and job growth. Cuccinelli seeks to cut taxes and try to cut the corporate income tax, placing Virginia ahead of North Carolina on similar grounds.
