Vitamin D - Immunity - Sun Exposure
Modern day medicine may have provided alternatives to the traditional source of vitamin D, and yet, to ensure that proper levels of it circulate in our body, exposure to the sun is beyond necessary.
The UV rays of the sun facilitate the synthesis of Vitamin D which is extremely important to the immune system. Vitamin D facilitates the normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus, improving bone and teeth health. Vitamin D in appropriate amounts not only increases autoimmunity by strengthening the T-cells and keeping pathogens away but also protects the body from heart diseases, fractures and even cancers.
It is thus important to get sufficient amounts of sunshine hours in to avoid abnormalities that arise out of the lack of Vitamin D synthesis.
