I'm currently working on making little portraits of all (!) humans of the house of Bëor,Haleth and Hador including all the unnamed wives. The family tree is canon only so I took some time making this little self indulgent comparison.

Sometimes I think Fëanor went a little over the top with his whole “I will quite literally drop dead if you break the Silmarils” schtick but I am currently trying to arrange a necklace pattern onto a larger piece I am drafting before I individually glue each sequin down.

And I get him now. I get you, my fiery little friend. If someone even breathes next to this sheet of paper, be he foe or friend, be he foul or clean, I too will be engaging in a campaign of kinslaying so eye-wateringly dramatic that nobody has even dared to fully adapt it in film to this day.

One of my favorite little things in the silmarillion is how jirt very passively aggressively uses “it came into his thought/mind” when someone has a very stupid idea.

Basically “I have no fucking idea how this imbecile came to the conclusion in his tiny little brain that this would be a good idea but HERE WE ARE”

I wonder if Aulë ever tried to convince Melkor to stop destroying his precious works. If so, it probably went like this:

Aulë: Hey, man… I don't want to start a fight or anything, but have you ever thought about redirecting your energy into something else? You know, something that doesn’t involve burning, marring, and destroying? Quiet, nice hobbies could be really pleasant too. Just give it a try—maybe you'll like it!

Melkor: Sounds like bullshit, so no promises.
