“ When Jason Dohring came in to audition for the first time it was one of the most powerful auditions I’ve ever witnessed. Because we didn’t have much dialogue for him in the pilot I wrote an additional audition scene in which Aaron picks Logan up from school after Veronica got him expelled for the bong in his locker. In the scene, Aaron has Logan push in the cigarette lighter and the audience realizes as Logan looses his composure what Aaron plans to do with the lighter. Jason was spellbinding. (Jason always wanted to do the scene in the show. It was replaced by the scene of choosing a belt with which to be whipped. I believe the cigarette lighter game would’ve led people to believe Aaron was the murderer too early in the show.)

…It’s funny to watch Jason and Kristen “act” together, because they approach their craft so differently. They’re both incredibly dedicated, but Kristen can turn it on and off. Jason is very method-y. He works himself up before a scene. You can kind of see Jason disappear and Logan replace him before we shoot a scene. There’s the famous anecdote of Laurence Olivier saying to a young Dustin Hoffman, “ have you just tried acting? ” You could replace Olivier with Kristen and Hoffman with Jason and you’d have the dynamic between our two stars.“ -Rob Thomas ’ Neptune Noir’

Non-submission/non-confession/question. What future Veronica Mars things are there? Are they making another book, movie or another spin off series?

According to Rob Thomas during his book signing and also Austin TV interview, there is no plan whatsoever as he is very very busy with his new show iZombie. There is also no plan for another book right now. I asked Jennifer Graham, the co-author of Veronica Mars books, and she answered that she is not under contract for more books. Other cast are very busy with different projects at the moment. But Rob, Kristen, Jason, Ryan, Chris, and Enrico were interviewed that they believe that there will be more Veronica Mars in the future. Rob also mentioned if there’s going to be another Veronica Mars project, he’d rather to have it as a mini series (Six episodes more or less) like True Detective.

As for now, it’s everyone’s guess. After the movie, books, and the web series for these last two years, I think they’re taking a break for a while.
