Red Dust Racers
Graeme Cocks' Red Dust Racers, for which I illustrated the cover, is out now, having launched last Sunday at Mulberry on Swan (where I signed many a french-fold dust jacket and poster for the owners of all the old TCs, Sunbeams and Model Ts outside. Had to park the Hyundai around a corner, natch). The 4 kilo tome has another launch at the WA Museum in Kalgoorlie this weekend. I won't get there but am open to other automotive illustration commissions ...Â
To get ready for this year's LICAF I put together a couple of anthologies of my (too few) comics from over the (too many) years, including client commissions and some of the Perth 24 hour comics from the 90s. Big love to my [sic]BAG brothers Justin Ednie-Brown, Simon Wright and Steve Makse!
Poor Man’s Ocean
Colouring panels continues a-(snail’s)pace ...
Poor Man’s Ocean
And a quick colour test to see if that helps hold things together ...
Poor Man’s Ocean
Just got through inking another page. Slow and unsteady wins the something something ...
Unloved bathroom thing
Rejected by the band I designed it for. Anyone need a semi-surreal gravity defying salle de bain de non-sens?
Book cover illustration details
Crowd scene from back of book.
And the crowd scene I wanted to use. Too cartoony for the client! Historical accuracy beats my artistically licensed revisionism!
Book cover illustration details
Some details I’m working on for a client’s book cover on historical motor racing. I’ll post the cover itself when the book is released.
