Here comes the boy resurrected asparagus!
I swear I canNOT make up my mind regarding his outfit- we're slowly getting there though. I just have to... trust the process... I'll get there eventually......... orz
Little wins
I had a HC that Aurene in Tyrian form would probably take after the Commander (+Caithe for sylvari), and I took it as an excuse to test out my new tablet--
But also, expanding on the HC with more Thoughts...
Since we're in the Festival of the Four Winds again I wanted to mention one of the coolest things (to me) about it. Because I think it exemplifies how gw2 is crammed full of interesting lore but for the most parts, waits for you to put in a bit of effort to find it.
This festival is the only time you can visit Labyrinthine Cliffs, where the Zephyrites - a solitary group of humans who live on airships - come to moor once a year and trade with mainlanders, one of the few stops around the world they ever make.
They play into the history of the plot a large degree. They stewarded the last of Glint's eggs after her death, ensuring its safety while it was in stasis. They were the first direct victims of Mordremoth. They're staunch pacifists who accept all converts, revere their own Glint-specific type of magic, and have a specific naming convention.
While you're in Labyrinthine Cliffs, this music plays:
It's got a very slow build, and it's very airy, it's like a folk tune these nomadic people might play to themselves and you overhear it as you investigate the bazaar.
This song actually has lyrics. The only way to find out what they are is to happen to overhear the Zephyrite NPCs singing the words when you're nearby.
I didn't realise this for years of playing. It really is a folk tune that has words being passed around by word of mouth. You're not even very likely to hear any of the words being sung, or even realise it maps onto the background music.
This person did the work of grabbing all the snippets from the Zephyrites on the tethered ship - a ship which doesn't exist any more.
Alas, her magic strewn in sand. Alas, her soul undone. The clouds shed tears upon the land for the loss of our crystal sun. No more to tame the wind and rain, the skies to swallow whole. She flies no more in glinting beam and leaves a hollow hole.
When you piece it together, the whole song is about Glint. The importance she had to them and their grief at her loss. Integrated into the world so you know what it meant to them - intrinsic enough to their society that they idly hum a song in rememberence that every one of them memorised.
Swerving on getting fridged by becoming a water spirit that haunts the shit out of Orr. I cannot figure out how to draw this man’s face for the life of me send help.
hey! I know we had some new people join the fandom or hop back in again after a huge break because of the new expansion! So!
This is you're regular reminder that gw2 blogger queer-as-used-by-tolkein (formerly Commandertiffany) is dangerously ableist and also really racist. She also has a second blog called Tiffany-Smith, and a third called Skaald-of-the-Hearth-Fires. I'll keep updating the original post as I hear about these
[Proof of Ableism] warning for triggering content if you follow this link
[Proof of Racism 1] [Proof 2] warning for these ones too. Don't follow any of these links if you don't have to. If you don't know, the man these posts are about and in support of is a known white supremacist
I'm putting this is the main tags so new people will hopefully see. Feel free to link this to people you see interacting with tiffany. It is genuinely best for the safety of everyone in this community that you block her. The things she says are the types of things that get people, especially disabled and neurodivergent people attacked and killed, and she refuses to see a problem with that. I have tried to talk to her before, I and others have tried to educate her. Tiffany refuses to learn or change and is actively dangerous because of it.
Block her, for the safety of your fellow community members
you can check my tag "#socks talking about ableism" to see more posts about this situation or blacklist it to avoid seeing anything else that comes up. You can also dm me if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer. Stay safe y'all
Heads up, tiffany changed her blog name to queer-as-used-by-tolkein. Be careful, and please keep yourselves and the disabled and neurodivergent gw2 and Tolkien fans around you safe
updated links for the proof of racism so they work again: 1 2
I looked out of curiosity and the first thing I see is her taking the side of a mass shooter. Yep not putting up with that
all of my ocs are inherently neurodivergent in someway because i dont know how neurotypical people work
Alright GW2 gang, listen up.
Reblog and/or comment one of your OC's who would lean on the side of both upbeat and enjoy a bit of gossip, who at the least has been to modern day Lion's Arch in your headcanon, for the possibility to have a cameo in a GW2 fic we're writing
Actually you know what, just toss any OC's you'd be okay with getting cameos in a fic. Especially any Elonian and Central Tyria characters, and especially any skritt.
(it's for the fic series written from Miyani's perspective fyi)
Riff most definitely. He’s very upbeat and enjoys gossip more than he probably should. Being that he travels a lot he ends up in Lion’s Arch often.

Ever just make an OC and you think they’ll just be a one-off character but then all of the sudden, whoop. You dive into the character to understand how they handle a situation you put them in, you help them succeed, develop their personality more than you planned and you’re just attached to your little baby now so you’ve got to see them grow and flourish and make it to the happy ending they deserve?
Do you ever think about what Zhaitan must have been feeling/thinking, clinging to that tower after we shot him from the sky, waiting for the final blow? The Elder Dragon of death and he was the first to die.
It's very easy to forget - and for newer players to just not notice - that the Orr campaign against zhaitan was brutal. We cut off his food supply, we cut off his magic, we took away his ability to see his dominion (killed many eyes of zhaitan), killed many mouths, and we had an army decimating his forces. He's this all powerful dragon of Death and we are turning his domain against him. He's supposed to be the one causing fear to us mortals by abusing death magic, turning our friends and loved-ones into these horrors. And instead we're going "Oh you think you've got eyes to see what's going on? lol nope" "Oh you have temples powering you up? Nope. We're gonna take that magic away from you"
Sure the end fight is..... pretty bad. He's just clinging on to a little tower while we spam a button. He's throwing out what little magic he has left and it's an inconvenience at best as you scream at the Destiny's Edge NPCs to do something useful. But no. He's gripped on to this tower, basically drained of magic, hungry, and these little insect mortals are basically throwing stones at him.
I'm sure he was confused. Death is his domain. He has power over it. And now.... this. Maybe he thought about the other dragons. The mortals brought death to Death. How will these mortals make the other dragons suffer. Or maybe he was just glad it was over.
Rest... good.
Pact Commanders so thoroughly associated with a certain color that the average person in Tyria uses that color to represent them. Towns tying ribbons in their color to trees and posts to welcome them if they're visiting (for non danger/threat reasons). Ink and paint colors being named after them. Flowers in that color becoming symbols of hope and well wishing. Decades, centuries later, it's a color that never goes out of fashion. It's a safe answer to "what's your favorite color?" and artists and designers will use it everywhere for symbolism. It's a color of safety and peace despite their name and title carrying a connotation of war. The Commander inspires people even in the smallest ways, because despite the weight and pressure on them, they bring safety and peace to the average Tyrian who cannot fight for themself.
(And sometimes, their color will go hand in hand with white or light blue, whichever looks better together with it, courtesy of the Crystal Bloom's lasting influence.)
Gorrik is big little brother material and I feel like it's our duty to bully him (gently).
"I am fire! I am war! What are you?!
"...still standing."
Vezz faces down Balthazar within days of being killed by him and being pulled out of the mists. He was having a difficult day. I am... particularly proud of this. Maybe it's not fantastic but I think it looks good.
