FAN ART FRIDAY: Comics!
It’s hard to empathize with the current retro gaming boom when you grew up banned from playing games altogether. What was a child to do when his parents checked under his bed weekly in search of porn or gaming contraband?
For some, it was buying Tommy’s busted old Game Boy he stole from his brother. For me? It was devouring all the peripheral material related to video games themselves. Collecting Pokémon cards. Poring through strategy guides for games I never owned. And of course, reading video game comics, from Nintendo Power’s Howard & Nester to Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog.
But alas, while we’ve been basking in Katana ZERO’s glorious excess for nearly a month now, our gaming brethren in Australia and New Zealand have been denied its intense gameplay and mind-blowing synthwave. For shame! To commemorate its upcoming release there, here’s a collection of Katana ZERO-themed manga/comic strips to give you a taste of what you’ve been missing!
Let’s begin.
[WARNING: Remember, kids–Japanese manga is read right-to-left! Also, contains plot spoilers for ‘Katana ZERO’.]
