I'm literally tempted to start over
"Get away from my daughter!" Irina didn't even have time to think it through before her fist connected with the bastard's face.
Alexei didn't really have all that much time to react before it happened.
"That could literally be anyone but you got fighting spirit I like that"
His comment only made Irina see red.
She had worked so hard to find her daughter, this bastard may not be the person who took her newborn from her, but he was the same bastard who had been in Ohio with Natalia.
"I should have guessed that you don't remember me, swine like you never do." Irina spat, venom dripping from her tone.
"I may have been kept from my Natalia for longer than I would like, but you and your goons didn't stop me." She threw another punch, hoping to hear his nose break under her fist.
"My daughters name is Natalia Romanova. You had her with you in Ohio in '95."
“ i’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on. ”
"Going on with what?"
"She will be, моя любовь." Irina said pressing a kiss to her daughter's hair, her little girl was such a wonderful, empathetic person, Irina was very proud.
"I love you."
“ i’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on. ”
"Going on with what?"
Irina pulled her daughter close, and kissed the top of her head.
"When you were born, I was so happy. What I didn't know, was that your father was in contact with these people who were watching us and that they had paid him for you.
The nurses took you to the hospital nursery... and I never saw you again." Irina had found out later what Ivan had done, she knew she couldn't be the only mother this had happened to.
"Something like that happened to Yelena's mother, somewhere out there is a mother who is missing her baby girl, just like I missed mine."
Natalia watched her quietly as she told her what happened.
"It could be you though right? Being her mom?." She said
"No, малышка." Irina said, her voice softening with sadness for both girls.
"Sometimes our family is a family of the heart and not of blood... you and I are family because I gave birth to you. But Yelena and I aren't family." She hoped that her daughter could understand.
"I could try and get the people in charge to give Yelena to me while we look for her parents, but there is no guarantee that they would let me have her since she's not mine like you're mine."
"As far as anyone knows she doesn't have anybody like no one dunno how true that is but that what they said" Natalia said
"She'd be lonely or by herself"
Irina nodded, the fact that her daughter was concerned about another little girl who was alone in the world was a good thing.
"Let me make some calls, alright?" If she did take custody of Yelena two girls would be a lot of work, but Irina was willing to try.
"I'll try my best, Natalia."
Natalia nodded soft.
"Okay. I'll let you do that then." She said afterwards fully aware she would the best possible
"It won't happen right away, if at all." Irina warned, she didn't want her daughter to get her hopes up.
"But I will try."
“ i’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on. ”

@russian-avenger liked the thing.
She'd heard about the cell of Russian agents on the news, and jumped into the car, glad her search had brought her to America so she wouldn't have to fly the ten hours.
She didn't stop driving until she reached Ohio, it was still early morning but she walked into the police station where the children were being held, and she made her claim.
Of course DNA had to be run, they wouldn't just let Irina see the child, so days passed before at last she got the call, it was a ninety-nine percent match, she had done it! She'd found her daughter.
Now, an officer was escorting her back to an interrogation room where her child was waiting.
The moment she entered, Irina only had eyes for the girl, they had dyed her hair blue. But she was alive! How many times had Irina feared the worst? But it wasn't true, Natalia was safe, more importantly Natalia was found.
The officers were explaining who Irina was, but she couldn't hear them, all she wanted to do was hug her daughter for the first time since she'd been taken.
Stepping forward, Irina smiled.
"Hello," she said softly still just taking the girl in.
The way she watched her broke Irina's heart, her daughter seemed so reserved and unsure, that was the last thing Irina wanted for her.
"Do you have any questions for me?"
"Why?" Natalia asked "why'd you give me away if you wanted me?" She added afterwards
Irina tried not to let the hurt show on her face, whoever told her daughter such a brazen lie didn't deserve to draw breath. But showing her rage to Natalia would do nothing but frighten the girl.
"I did not." Irina said her voice quiet but firm, she knew her daughter had no reason to believe her, but she spoke the truth.
"When you were born I wanted to keep you close, but I was told you needed to go to the hospital nursery. So I let the nurses take you and rested... by the time I woke up you were gone."
If Ivan ever dared show his face again, Irina would make sure his death was long, slow, and agonizingly painful.
"You were very much wanted by me, Natalia. You still are, I never gave you up."
Natalia watched her quietly unsure of what she would say next or how she would possibly act.
She wasn't even sure what was lies or the truth considering all.that had happened the last few days that it was almost too much to consume at once
"Honest?" She had asked after a few long moments of silence
"Honest." Taking a risk, Irina reached across the table to squeeze Natalia's hand.
"I promise you, when it comes to you and me, I won't lie to you." The older woman said, with a smile. She hoped one day her daughter would trust her easily.
I need an AU where Irina adopts Yelena after Natasha is returned to her because those girls deserved to be happy! 🥺

"Look at you... you're all grown up." (Nat)
Nat’s heart skipped a beat. The woman standing before her had the same eyes, the same facial features. She knew her. “Mom?”
Did it grieve Irina that her child had grown up without her? Absolutely.
But now was not the time to openly mourn such things. Now was a moment of reunion and celebration.
"Hello, Natalia."
She desperately wanted to embrace her daughter but resisted, her child didn't know her after all.
"You take after me, good. I worried that you'd take after..." She stopped before she choked on her ex-husband's name.
"I'm sorry that it took me so long to get to you."

"... You're the little one who was in Ohio with my Natalia." Irina said, realization filling her face as it dawned on her what that meant. (Yelena)
"Da. Natascha is my sister. Although it was just a ruse. I don't care what DNA tests say. We grew up together."
The blonde widow looked up. "You are her real Mama, yes? You look like her." @widowbore
Irina nodded, her heart pounding. The way the blonde spoke was telling, it wasn't in past tense, which meant her daughter was most likely alive.
"Is she alright?" Natasha had to be alright, Irina didn't know what she'd do if her baby was hurting.
"I've been looking for her for so long."
@widowbore
The hard part, of course. Yelena paused for a long time, a pained expression coming over her face as she gazed down at the floor.
“She is gone. Natascha sacrificed her life, to obtain the Soul Stone for the Avengers, so that everyone who died, in the Blip could return to life. Half of humanity.”
“It was her decision, in the end. She always had to win. And we’re going to have to find a way to live with all of that.” She closed her eyes for a moment, repeating Clint’s words to her, in Rockafeller Center.
“She never stopped looking for you. At least Natascha knows who her true parents are. I don’t.”
She might as well have been shot again the way that blow landed.
Irina had tried for decades to get her daughter back and had been so close to achieving her goal at one point, and now it was too late.
"She can't... How long ago?" Was there a funeral, a burial place for her daughter, that she could visit?
"I... I'm so sorry."
"... You're the little one who was in Ohio with my Natalia." Irina said, realization filling her face as it dawned on her what that meant. (Yelena)

It had been a long day, but finally it was time to wind down, pulling the blanket up over her little girl, Irina hummed a lullaby as she stroked through Natalia's hair.
Watching as her daughter fought off sleep, Irina smiled and continued to sing softly.
"I love you, Natalia."
The little girl smiled sleepily up at the woman. She had been running around the backyard most of the day with her mother, it was her favorite part about the summertime.
Her mothers voiced soothed Natasha no matter how hard her little eyes fought to stay open.
Her eyes blinked slowly and she smiled up at her mom. “I love you too, Mama.”
Kissing her daughter's cheek, Irina continued to hum and rub her daughter's back.
"Close your eyes, Маленькая снежинка." Irina murmured, her heart was so full, and Irina was so happy.
Hearing Natalia call her mama filled her with joy.
"We'll play more tomorrow."
@killerblackwidow liked for a starter
Irina knew this was a gamble, she gambled with her heart so many times over the years, only for it to be broken. What was one more time?
So, summoning her courage, she approached the young woman hoping that for once the gamble would pay off.
"Hello, Miss Romanov?" Irina said lowering her voice in case others were listening.
"I am sorry to bother you, but I was wondering if you could help me?"
"I know, I was young. That's not an excuse, but we're no longer together. I haven't seen him since they took my Natalia." She could see the suspicion in the young woman's eyes.
That was fair, Irina had not earned her trust.
"It's all out dated, had to lay low for a long time after they tried to murder me, and I'm pretty sure I got some of the contacts killed or imprisoned. But I still have it."
Natasha nodded, she understood making mistakes while young. “Do you know of his whereabouts?” She asked curiously.
“Any bit of information will help, but I do hope for the sake of things that you did. People like them don’t deserve a life.”
"I don't. And I don't care to know where that bastard is." The hate in her voice dripped off Irina's words like poison.
"He's no father, and if I have my way, my daughter will never be subjected to him." Her ex was a touchy subject for Irina. She would never forgive him for doing this to her and their Natalia.
