The only thing I’m disappointed about in this finale is that they missed an excellent opportunity to highlight the grey morality of both sides of the war - Inhumans and SHIELD. Instead of showing both sides as having equal strengths and flaws, they chose to suddenly weigh things against the Inhuman by making their leader “insane”.

This would have been a great opportunity to develop all of the characters (especially Jiaying and Gordon) without anyone truly being in the wrong and deserving death. Unfortunately, they didn’t.

AoS spoilers

On the one hand, Jiaying's attack wasn't really needed. On the other hand, she has just basically had her home, over which she is leader, invaded and her people forced to submit to their invaders and be cataloged. If you were a sovereign leader, you would be pissed, too. You might even echo her actions.

“Why would I have joined them? It’s taken me this long to shake off the cuffs of the Department and the Red Room. I was a tad preoccupied with looking over my shoulder - aim tends to waver when you find yourself in the Winter Soldier’s crosshairs.”

She shook her head and took a roll from her plate, splitting it in half. She slid a half over to Natasha.

“It seems like it would have been a smart move to me, considering that at the time, they were winning. Now because of that star-spangled jackass and you, things are different, obviously. Hence why I don’t bother joining them.”

Jack tried to defend him, but he knew there was no way out. The moment he hit the floor he looked at the woman for a second before trying to reach to his gun.

He looked back at her eyes. She scared the hell out of him, even from the moment they first met in The Griffith. Her eyes showed something he’d never seen before in anyone else. Quickly, he grabbed her wrist tightly and moved to avoid the knife to touch him.

“She wasn’t kidding about how crazy you are either.” he mentioned with a smile before liberating from her.

She glared when he grabbed her wrist, her other hand going into her shirt. When they broke away from each other, she pulled out an automatic from her cleavage. She gave possibly the most psychotic smile Jack had ever seen before the gun began to fire in a fashion not unlike a gatling gun.

She barely manages to dodge all but one of those slashes, a tear in her outfit materializing and a spot of blood blooming in its place. She hisses out a swear but keeps her eyes fixed on Dottie and on the shotgun she had dropped. “If you’d like to deal with the sexist twats I work with, be my guest. My life isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.” Only a few more steps and she could make a grab for the gun without fear of injury or being overtaken.

“Oh, I’d be happy to! I wonder what creative ways I could find to break them! That one with the crutch... I wonder what he’d do without any legs?”

Dottie wasn’t going to be ignorant of the gun this time. She’d already made that mistake with the other SSR agent. Her leg came up in a kick to her opponent’s ribs, intending to knock the wind from Peggy and give her some time to get the gun for herself.

“A difference of perspective.” She countered flatly, a brow arched at the older woman, “It’s a good thing we’re not back in the Union now then, isn’t it? The situation was dire, it was the logical decision to make given the circumstances.”

“Were the circumstances really so dire? You had plenty of opportunity to turn around and join HYDRA instead. You even had opportunities to shoot in the back the one who would have been your greatest enemy if you did. Our loyalties are meant to be fluid, after all.”

With quick movements, she dodges out of the way, barely keeping her balance to face her again.

“You for your sorry childhood. Boo hoo your parents don’t love you and you enjoy a bit of light BDSM. How very sad.”

“I hated them with a passion, and that was good.” She punctuated her words with hard slashes as she advanced on her target. “The academy was perfect for me, Peggy! I wanted so badly... I needed... to be able to walk like you, and to talk like you! You and your fancy clothes, your ‘proper English’ accent! You had a perfect life!”

Though still terrifying, dodging bullets was something she was so unfortunately used to that bullets from a single gun were almost avoidable on reflex alone. All of the skills she’d maintain from her days as a dancer made her quick and agil enough to avoid the bullets, but being kicked to the chest was another matter. The wind was knocked right out of her as she fell back to the ground, light glowing more brightly around her as she tried to regain some of her strength.

Once the kick connected, Dottie fell onto her back. She rolled and leaped up to her feet with ease, aiming her pistol down at her opponent’s head. She fired from the last barrel of the gun... which was empty, lucky for Tandy.

“That was terrible,” she criticized sharply. “90 years old and you can’t even beat me?”

This wasn’t the first time Tandy had had a gun pulled on her. It also wasn’t the first time she many have brought it on herself without thinking. She could just hear Ty’s half-lecture on how she needed to be more careful/half asking her if she was sure she was okay every give minutes in her head already.

She definitely didn’t really have time to think about that now though as she reflexively jumped out of the way, her daggers appearing at her fingers tips on instinct as she did.

She frowned when Tandy dodged and created the weapons. She whirled to fire off two more shots, fully expecting her opponent to just continue to weave as she was. In a feat probably intended for someone about 70 years younger than her, she then leaped feet-forward in a kick to Tandy’s chest, ready to roll once she hit the ground.
