“They’d probably find a way to bring us back from the dead just so we can attend detention,” she muttered under her breath, all too familiar with weekly detention. She was pretty much a regular at this point—much to her father’s dismay. “The hot brunette card sure as hell isn’t working, so I’d go with no. I think we might just have to start doing homework.”

There was a knock on his office door, and Enoch didn’t even bother to look up, instead taking a guess as to what exactly was at the door, “The essay was due yesterday and I shan’t be granting any extensions.” After a rather annoying encounter with a student only a few minutes ago, with the student daring to make up some half-hearted excuse as to why their essay hadn’t been submitted yet, Enoch was in no mood to repeat himself.

Melinda didn’t even a get a word in and he had already denied her, causing her to groan in annoyance. “Come on, I wasn’t inspired yesterday and we had a… family emergency thing,” she told the the professor, using the excuse she’d heard from her family a thousand times. Plus, it was the most subtle way of bringing up her father—not that the ‘my father’s the headmaster’ card even worked anymore.

“Do you ever have those days where you just want to rip your hair out?” Kavi asked groaning running his finger through his long dark hair. “I’m tired of all this fucking school work and I just want to go back home quite honestly. I want to be able to speak my native tongue for once. I had to learn English for you losers, maybe they should make Hindi a language at this school so I can actually communicate with people better. But no, everyone always has to fucking learn English.” 

“Not really,” Mel said with a shrug, running a hand through her own hair. “I love my hair and I think I’d look significantly less hot without it.” The witch listened to him as he ranted, realizing she might not be the most bored person in school after all. “Who are you calling a loser, loser? There’s only one social outcast sitting at this table right now and it isn’t me. I’m also not in charge of curriculum, maybe you should take that up with my father.”

╰ ☼ once the class had ended, hayden climbed onto the stool and reached up, promptly tugging the soiled painting from the wall. for someone who taught a class mostly based on theory, her classroom still fell victim to the powers of her students, this time it was the turn of her favoured painting of the golden gate bridge. “— got any tips on how to fix this?” she glanced over her shoulder and addressed the person who had just appeared. “it’d be a shame to see it go.”

Mel was surprised to hear Hayden call out to her after class, she was usually such a pain in the ass during class that most teacher couldn’t wait to get her out of the way. “It would be,” she said with a grin, dropping her bag to the floor as the rest of the students left to go to their next class. “I have a class to go to, but, luckily for you, I happen to plan on winning student with the most tardies this year.” The brunette made her way to the front of the class, taking a look at the painting. “What about a spell? I can fix that for you in a few seconds tops.”

School hours had come and gone, but as per usual, Toby stayed late. The fireball incident that afternoon left her with a second and third degree burns to heal, not to mention the mountain of accident report paperwork to fill out. Only now was she able to dig into her lunch at last. 

“A moment to enjoy some peace and quiet,” She murmured to herself. Footsteps echoed in the hallway. Toby stilled as they grew louder, nearing her office door. “Probably just a moment, though…”

There were very few ways to get out of an exam—faking an illness seemed to be the only lie people weren’t so quick to dismiss. Hell, the Advanced Orbing professor probably hadn’t exactly bought into her excuse, but most of them were hesitant to reprimand her because of who her family was. Being a Halliwell did come in handy sometimes. Mel leaned in the infirmary’s doorway, coughing dramatically. “Teacher told me to come here, I don’t feel well.”

“I’ve tried every excuse in the book, they just don’t work anymore,” Mel told her cousin with a shrug, knowing that from personal experience. “I’m pretty sure everyone in here stopped being impressed by the Halliwell thing years ago. In fact, I think people are sick of us pulling that card.”
