Hazbin Hotel Season 3 Songs Theories
I've been thinking over and over this topic since season 2 ended, scoured a lot of posts talking about it to see what others thought,i've come out with a lot of ideas some more likely than others. Decided to share my thoughts and make a thread so if someone wants to share their theories as well this will be the perfect place for it.
Thought my most recent inspiration,that convinced me also to organize my thoughtsin this list was Hellaverseposting answer to a question on Hazbin S3 Songs. She has like nailed half of my list,so thank Hellaverseposting for making me feel less crazy about my takes.
Disclaimer: I don't think all of those songs will happen obviously,otherwise season 3 should be at least 20+ episodes long. But i think any of those have a possibility to appear,might be it super high or low to happen,if not in season 3 at least in one of the next ones.
Alastor and Lucifer Second Duet
This is not a theory given Jeremy Jordan (Lucifer's VA) outright said this will happen. I don't remember if he specificied what kind of duet will be,i think not. But listen,last time those two sang togheter we got that Banger that is Hell's Greatest Dad . I trust it to be another certified banger whatever the topic is. I would love another rival-themed song, now that Alastor hasn't Rosie to hold him back i need to see the full extents of him antagonizing Lucifer. Thought remembering the old drafts of those two being friends during the pilot-era livestreams,also a song that pinpoints the turn in their relationship from basically enemies to idk a Shadow-Sonic kind of friendship won't be bad.
Be it sad,painful,angry,romantic or a mix of all of those we definitely need a duet between Lucifer and Lilith STAT. With the return of the Morningstars matriarch we can expect this to happen 100% . Is finally about time we discover on what terms those two parted and the emotional implications for both sides (i mean we do know they were devastating on Lucifer's part,but we definitely need to see more). Heck could have also recalls back to their eden days.
Another one that i'll be very surprised if doesn't happen. Charlie has admired her mom since forever,this duet has been outright foreshadowed from episode 1 of season 1. Heck i won't be surprised if it's two duets,one of them being the reprise of the other. I remember Viv liking posts about Charlie understanding that she has idealized her mom too much and another about Lilith being let down by her daughter's dreams. Now obviously what Viv likes is not a confirmation or anything,but it made me think. What if one of the duets is the emotional mother-daughter reunion and the other is Charlie coming to terms that her mom is not what she shaped her to be? heck could be also reversed. Mom and Daughter not agreeing with each other views at start and then coming to terms with their differences and putting their love for one another over them. Very very curious.
I'll be honest,this is a song i know is 100% coming but i have no idea what it will be about. All will depend on how Lilith gets presented and what's her role. Might be her a villain,an antagonist or an ally since the start and how her role will evolve throught the season.
Vivienne,after two seasons maybe is time to have Lucifer have HIS OWN SONG for once. Especially in what it looks to be the most emotionally taxing season for him. While i haven't a specifical idea of what his solo song might be about,it will definitely be an emotional one. I highly doubt we're getting a "Lucifer's part of Vox Populi" in this case. The evil ruler mask fell - or better whatever was left of it in front of whole hell,and now is time to look better in Lucifer's emotions.
Betting pool for how badly Charlie will suffer this season here,thanks. I definitely think Charlie will not have a good time this time,not that season 2 and 1 were a walk in the park,but this time the hurt will come from closer and might finally shake her naivety a bit. I'm honest,i won't be surprised if she has more than one solo song,maybe something more peppy at the start when the Hotel is flourishing and then a more emotional one when things start going the opposite she hoped. Again,clinging on the info Erika said about one of Charlie's season 4 songs being a foil to Happy Day in Hell . Charlie has to have something happening to her to lose her optimism and i think Season 3 will be the perfect field for it to happen. We will finally get a non ensemble sad song from Charlie? highly probably.
Don't blame me for having so much Morningstars's songs up here, Vivienne said they are the focal point of season 3. Obviously,to end the whole ensemble ,how can i not think that we will have all the three Morningstars singing togheter? Will it be a happy family reunion ensemble? A final breaking point for all of three? Something in between? All those options are valid and i'm sat already to hear the way those three harmonize togheter,be in a sharp angsty song or a more mellow and sweet one.
No reason to sugarcoat it. Husk and Angel were the ones who had the worst ending in season 2. When they both seemed to come to terms with their feelings for one another BAM,tragedy,i'm still recovering. When Vivienne said that Angel,his family and his relationship with Husk will be a big focus of season 3 i was both very happy and very scared because oh boy,the angst that is coming for us huskerdust shippers. I honestly don't know if it will be an actual duet like Piss was for Cherrisnake or a solo Husk's song about the regrets of not telling Angel's his feelings when he had the chance or the pain of being in love and needing someone again,this one is 100% coming and will make us all cry like kids. - Heck could even be an Angel solo song for all we know. Thought my bet for now is a duet.
I bet my damned life on this one coming. Be it a song about their past or about their toxic relationship as whole,this one is UNLUCKILY very needed. (but also luckily because i need Joel to sing more) , How it started,how their deal went,how they both feel right now for the other are crucial things for both characters developments. I would prefer if it was a whole new song with some notes and parts reprised from Poison a bit like Don't you Forget Reprise with only the last parts being a callback to Stayed Gone.
Guys,we all know is coming... Foreshadowed since his solo part in Finale in season 1 and reinforced in his and Rosie's duet in Hear my Hope in season 2. Alastor will be a villain, he will be the villain only for this season or maybe season 3 will be the last time we will see Alastor among the ranks of the good guys? Have no idea,but this bastard deserves a full classical Disney Villain song that makes your bones shiver.
it's been two seasons JESUS CHRIST,give this woman her solo song! I think i read somewhere that Erika Henningsen (Charlie's VA) said that Vaggi will be feel left out once Lilith returns,now idk where i read it or if it was a weird game of telephone,but Vaggi solo being about why she feels like she has to protect and devote her life to Charlie would answer many things about her character. We did get the general gist of it with the various flashbacks and with Whatever it Takes but i want a deep dive on it. Or,even better a song about her days as exorcists,about the scars it left her or a deep dive on the life she lived among their ranks, since we already saw snippets of it in season 2. I NEED EMOTIONAL INSIGHTS OF THIS WOMAN AND FOR STEPHANIE BEATRIZ TO SING WAY MORE,THANK YOU.
Is my Huskerdust bias showing? no because i can make it even more obvious if ya want. Jokes apart ,from the way the whole cast and Viv act,is pretty obvious those two will become an item at end of season 3 or at worst at start of season 4 (That interview where Blake is trying his damnest to dodge saying 'Boyfriend' when talking about Keith Davids playing Husk is hilarious). Will it be an outright confession song or a more 'subtle' one where feelings are obvious but they don't directly say ' i love you' ? Both choices could be valid. Curious to see if it will be a full fledged Loser baby reprise,a brand new song or a new song with the last part having the notes and tempo of Loser Baby. But it's due time we get another duet from the losers.
We need the angelic angst,sorry not sorry. Heaven has to acknowledge Lucifer once and for all,especially Sera. I saw theories on what Sera and Lucifer relationship was like before his fall,some think it was Boss-subordinate kind of one. The more evil ones who clearly sustain themselves on tears and despair,think they were Sister and Brother - to explain even more why Sera was so scared for Emily's possibility to fall if she went against the rules; She already had to banish a brother once, she can't do it twice. A song like this has the potential to be the most emotional and heart wrenching song of the show,and i would really love to see it.
As i mentioned before,this might be the same as the Lucililith duet for all we know,that's why it is lower even thought it should be a pivotal key point for season 3. Yet it's more probable,that,if this song happens it will be a total different song. Be it sang by Lucifer,Lilith,Sera or all three i have the hunch we will finally see what happened in Eden and i won't be surprised if many things in the book that Charlie reads in Season 1 don't match. Will probably serve both as a way to know more about the lore and to have Charlie get a crack with both her parents. Won't be surprised if this is what makes her doubt her own intentions,and for it to create the 'Foil song to Happy Day in Hell' that Erika mentioned in one of her interviews.
Be it another suffering anthem (like, he has every reason to feel even worst than he did in Poison right now),a song about his past,his family as whole, his relationship with Molly in the specific, an outright flashback song to show what and how he landed in hell like Brighter ,a song about him spiraling again now that he can't trust his own mind either or a more emotional/happier song (PRESS X TO DOUBT) this man needs at least a solo song per season,i don't do the rules. I'll probably cry till the last of my tears? oh 100% i still want it.
People will complain but idgaf,Valentino,even if not the main villain and just the Vee focus will need at least a solo song or at worst a duet with Velvette or Vox. If it's him fully immerging himself in the role of the Head of the Vees or a flashback song like Brighter it's up to interpretation,but he will definitely have his villain song. And i'm saying it from the prospective of someone who hopes that Valentino ends like a moth that dives into a flame next season.
Vivienne has said Husk will be also a big focus point of Season 3,if only in regard to Angel story or also on his own is't specificed. As i said he might get a yearning song about Angel,but he might also get his own song: Probably a backstory song about his Human or and Overlord life. Maybe we finally discover what's the sin that landed him in hell. Since i'm almost sure,him,along with Angel and probably Valentino will be one of the sinners who gets his human form revealed next season. Besides,who is the crazy madman who doesn't want another Keith Davids song?!
Let's face it,we need the backstory of this group as a whole,not only their singular ones. Why Alastor let them live? How did all three met? How long have Husk and Nifty been under Alastor? How did they were as Overlords? (We had hints towards Husk,but until Hear my Hope we didn't even THINK of Nifty being an Overlord) Were they allies before Alastor got their souls? How strong did they were before the deals,given they defeated two full fledged overlords?. Their song could be a flashback/backstory or Alastor trying to pull them into his villainous plans,rather by manipulating them or forcing them. A Don't You Forget reprise,maybe? Who knows? But they definitely need more focus now that Al might be the big bad and a song would do very much good to their dynamic.
A song about Siblings Love and Regret but with the duet framing of Whatever it Takes and Piss. While for me,this would be probably more a thing for Season 4,but i won't be surprised,given that Angel's family will be a focal point and they were searching a Va for Molly not much time before Season 3 was announced to have been wrapped up,this to become a thing already in season 3. Sorry not sorry but i finally need to see what their bond was like,i can't sustain myself on Vivienne liking sad fanarts of them forever. I need canon heartbreak.
In case we don't get the Radiotrio song,i still think is worth those two to have a song togheter. Both because it would be a perfect foil for what Vivienne said about Husk understanding that his and Angel's situations while similar are not the same. Besides,their relationship is interesting: Husk hates Alastor 100% and Alastor treats him like a pet,yet Husk seems to have at least a bit of respect for Alastor,given he thinks he is too strong to lose time by messing with the Vees, Alastor has kept him Alive and made a deal to have him keep his powers as long as he served him,to which makes me question about how strong Husk really was. Genuinely,a song about what kind of fucked up ownership they have and their deal would be interesting. Last but not least,because i need Amir and Keith to have ONE song togheter.
One of the biggest disservices i think Season 1 ,did due to the lack of time,was Cherri and Angel's friendship writing. But i was very happy with how they handled things in Season 2. Now that Season 3 promises to show Angel's past,i wouldn't put past them to also show us how his friendship with Cherri started. Thought is low on the list because idk if they'll do a full fledged duet for it or just show scenes about it when talking of Angel's backstory. But i'm in desperate need of a new duet between them. It's been so much time since Addict.
Valentino & Velvette Duet / Valentino & Vox Duet
As i mentioned before,i could also see Val have a duet with one of his associates. Rather a Once we Get Up There styled song but with just Him and Velvette getting used to be the heads of Voxtek or a more introspect song about his relationship with Vox. I don't deny the possibility of a full blown Vee trio song,but i think for now is more likely that Val sings with just one of them. In case it's the first ,Val and Velvette have to explain why Vox already has his body and looks so damn high. 💀
I unluckily,think most of heaven will take a seatback (saving maybe for Sera) during season 3, but given that Abel story can connect to Eden due to both being the son of Adam and Eve and the whole mess with Cain ,i wont be surprised if he is one of the few angels who has his own song this season. Like right now i believe more in him having his own solo than Lute. To which,you won't catch me complaining, PATRICK STUMP DESERVES HIS SOLO.
A New Finale Song,less Hopeful and Happier than The Last Two
Both Finale and Hear My Hope,while having their fair share of fear,risk and sadness in it,always end with a note of well,Hope,thing that i fear won't be the same for the finale of Season 3. With the interviews saying that it will be the more emotional, Erika mentioning that Charlie in season 4 will start losing her more optimistic way,i think the Final song of Season 3 will be bittersweet and less hopeful than the first two seasons. Not tragic nor too sad in general,but definitely less rose tinted and optimistic.
