He lifts an eyebrow at the mention of her father, but doesn’t press it- family isn’t always the kind of topic one delves into in polite company. Instead, he lets her steer the conversation to lighter things.
“One of those departmental dinners, you know. Nothing extravagant.” A slight smile plays over his lips as she adjusts the suit. “But... you never know just who will be attending those things, do you?”
(He does. He got access to the guest list. And the seating arrangements. And yes, he’s making sure he looks his best. Not just for the Parisian exchange student who will be sitting across from him, of course- it’s for everyone else in the room, as well.)
