a day off for april meant doing absolutely nothing— she’d just returned from treating herself to a rather indulgent cafe outing, with overpriced coffee and the like. she had spent the last hour with her headphones on, accompanied with extra loud music to drown out the bustle of the city. as april enters the apartment building, she takes the headphones off, greeted with a newfound silence, so quiet it was loud. she approaches the stairs, still adjusting to the shift in volume. upon hearing a familiar, jovial voice, april turns around, face immediately widening into a smile at the sight of charli. as the other pulls out the sweater, she looks the clothing article up and down, scrunching her nose slightly and tilting her head to the side, feigning deep consideration. “ it’s like — cute, grandma chic ? ” april finally concludes, before letting out a laugh, “ i don’t know if grandma chic is a thing, but it COULD be. either way, you should definitely wear it ! maybe you’ll catch the eyes of a hot, mature student, or something. ”
“ grandma - chic. ” she repeated the coined term , her nose crinkling just slightly at the idea. it fit , she thinks , and then a smile is pulling across her features. “ if it’s not a thing , i feel like my thrifted style would easily be considered that. everyone that i get always feels like it’s from at sixty’s but like . . . in a good way ! ” she chuckles softly , happy that she run into april opposed to anyone else. she’s not sure that anyone else could’ve taken the request seriously or see it in the same light as her. they really were cut from the same cloth. “ i also think catching the eye of a hot mature student could definitely get me in some trouble , april. ” being in a settling with adults , sometimes older than her , was definitely different than her previous teaching jobs , and she was getting used to the changes. “ i think the only eye this is gonna catch is the sixty-two year old man who’s in my class because he wants to finally get a college degree. his name is earl and he’s lovely. ”
Jamie’s having fun listening, though, third drink in himself, only because he’d started early in an attempt to drown any nerves that might surface. He’s just hoping he’s not staring too much at Fox’s mouth, but really, who could blame him? “No, no, it’s all good.” He shakes his head, leans in a little more and lets his gaze trace over the tattoos on Fox’s arms. “You’re making me want more tattoos, though, I’ve only got the one.” He stretches his arm out then, wrist turned up to flash the ‘III’ inked carefully there onto the skin.
fox wasn’t always much of a talker , usually enduring the many stories of clients who talked through their pain. but jamie , for whatever reason , caused him to ramble. he knew he shouldn’t even bother trying to flirt , so the language of work was what he knew best. curious eyes follow his gaze , laughing gently at his comment. “ you’re welcome to come in anytime , i always keep some sections of my days for walk-ins so you can just text me or something. ” fingers graze gently over the tattoo on his wrist , inspecting it as if this wasn’t just an excuse to make contact. “ can i ask the meaning , or is it a secret ? ” it’s partly teased , though he’s done many secret meaning tattoos in the past.
hey friends ! so i don’t feel super great like ... emotionally tonight so i’m prob. gonna go lay down & if i don’t fall asleep i’ll come back and do some replies but if i do , i’ll get to them tomorrow <3
he’s on his way out when he runs into charli — it’s a bit odd, to be living together again but not really. it reminds him of when they were younger, left alone in the big house with just each other. well, mom was there but did that really count ? his brows raise at the sight of the sweater and then they furrow together at her question. “ wait — seriously ?? ” gabriel looks at her incredulously before slowly shifting his gaze on to the sweater, taking a moment to consider the garment of clothing. “ i mean, you always look like a grandma to me, ” he shrugs. “ i think it’s all the scowling you do, ” he points a finger at his face, features twisting into an impression of her as he draws little circles in the air in a gesture, “ really AGES you. ”
“ gabriel , can you manage to be helpful at all ? ” it’s teased to her older brother , a soft smile across her features as she lays the sweater across her arm. “ i’m highly offended by that , just so you know. i work hard to put myself in the highest of fashions or -–– ” eyes glance to the sweater , shrugging her shoulders. “ anything unique , i suppose. ” eyes roll , waving a hand at the finger pointed at her features. “ i only scowl because you’re immature and it makes me scowl. shouldn’t you be the one acting old , since you’re an old man and all that ? ” she’s grinning now , knocking her shoulder gently against his. despite all the teasing , charli was thankful she got along with him so well. all things considered , the idea that they may not be close was definitely present but fortunately not true even in the least bit. “ do you like the sweater or not ?! ”
Despite having only been in Brooklyn for a month, Wisteria was already well on her way to being settled in. Her ability to adapt to wherever she was and thrive there was definitely an asset considering all the travelling she’d been doing over the past six years. But the time was right for her to set up more permanent roots somewhere, and the universe must’ve agreed because the purchasing of her future shop had gone as smoothly as possible. After getting settled into her apartment, Wisteria went straight to work with the shop, spending a good part of her days there. Considering how busy she was, she hadn’t done much tattooing since moving out to Brooklyn save for a couple small ones on herself and some new friends out of her apartment- but she was itching for something else.
It worked out perfectly that one of her colleagues on social media happened to have a shop out in Brooklyn. They’d talked briefly over the years, mostly about their work, and when Wisteria had mentioned going through tattoo withdrawals after having settled down in New York, Fox was all too ready to offer her a solution.
Pulling open the front door, Wisteria entered the shop and took a deep breath, the smell of ink alone perking her right up. Though he’d seen her work online, she still had a portfolio of some of her work tucked under her arm- it was only right. Pulling out her phone, Wisteria sent a quick text.

although he had moved out of the small apartment space above his shop nearly a year ago , he still used it as an office space and a design space when he didn’t want to be at home. it was almost like he had two separate homes , one to work in and one to actually focus on himself in. it was nice –– to actually feel like he was thriving on his own for the first time in his life. business was good , great actually , and he was only mildly reforming his workers to it was a bit more fitting to the style of shop he wanted. he had give permission to do so , not that he needed it now , but it was still nice to know his mentor wasn’t disappointed in the changes he made.
although he preferred his tattooers to be permanent , he didn’t mind a few that took a place in his shop just because they needed. enter , wisteria. they had chatted a few times over social media , and he admired her work. so naturally , when he heard she needed a temporary place to tattoo , he was quick to offer up his shop. most of his employees ran on their own , personal clients , working with barley minimum walk ins because , well , they were always so booked. that said , it was the perfect space for her while she settled her own shop. most owners may not want someone building their own shop to flourish , but looking at his own background , he wanted nothing more than to help her thrive.
blue hues peak at his phone buzzing on his desk , setting down the pencil that had been sketching away at a piece of a client. it had turned out even better than he thought , so he brought it down to with him because he figured he could have wisteria look it over because , well , why not ? quickly , he types out a response that simple reads be right down and within seconds he’s at reception , reaching his hand out to formally introduce himself. “ nice to finally meet you. ” he greets , his tone cool. “ and thanks , i’ve been doing one revamping since i took over the shop. with some help , of course. i’m glad you like it. ” he leads her into the shop , away from customers and employees who are working. “ is that your portfolio ? you know you didn’t had to bring it. ” he points out , and then holds out the small sketchbook that was tucked under his arms. “ but if we’re gonna do a little show and tell , what do you think of this ? i just finished it before you got here. ”
oh, what a hideous sweater. truly, a monstrosity to fashion everywhere. her very own eyes hath behold the end of times, and it was stitched into that sweater. so many awful things she could say about that piece of clothing, but you see—her mama taught her well. if you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say it at all. besides, maybe it was one of those…better when it’s on you kind of deals. “oh—uh,” rachel popped her headphones out of her ears, rocking the wired look because she’d been jostled on the subway and her airpod fell out and then someone stepped on it, the nerve. “you know, i bet you could pull it off! it’s definitely a look. and you know what they say, if there’s a statement to make, you make it with clothes…someone said that, right? i might have made that up. but jeez, i swear, it sounds like something someone said at some point, right?” she gave the sweater another look. maybe she’d been too harsh to judgement. “well darn, now that i’m lookin’ at it…it isn’t half bad. what would you wear it with. ooh! you know what, i got a cute skirt that might work with it, and i think it’ll fit you.”
ever since charli took up thrifting , some of her finds were questionable –– but as a lover of fashion , she could make something out of nearly nothing. even the ugliest of sweaters could become a fashion statement if she tried hard enough , example being the sweater in his hands that she displayed to the blonde. she expected a negative response because , well , her head knows it’s an ugly sweater by default , but maybe the other can sense the beauty in it like she can. “ you know , i don’t know if someone said that but now someone , you , said it so i guess . . . someone did say it. ” charli rests the sweater against her body , pulling it up in envision it in a different perspective. “ maybe a skirt or ––– she tilts her heard , holding the sweater away from her body. “ what about a pair of skinny jeans but . . . this color ? i think i have a pair that matches perfectly. ” she points to the sweater , pointing out an accent color that was broad throughout the patterning. “ i thought it was ugly when i first looked at it , but then i kinda just had to have it , you now ? ”
after enough run-ins around village , fox had finally gotten tired of conversations in passing with jaime. he’s not sure why , of all places , he picked a bar but it seemed like a relaxed enough environment for them to get to know each other. two beers in and fox is actually in a great mood , droning on about work and he’s not sure why jamie is even listening to him. “ i know i’m talking to much , you can ask me to shut up at any time ––– i won’t be offended , swear it. ”
there was something about the quaint apartment complex that charli had always enjoyed. it was just about the opposite of where she may have been raised to want to live , but the atmosphere was kind and refreshing and it brought out her better said. that said , she makes her way into the building , shopping bags in hand when she runs into a familiar resident at the bottom of the staircases. “ hey ! do you have a second ? i just really need to know . . . ” a hand reaches into a bag , pulling out a sweater that looks like it was the highest fashion ––– in the mid seventies. “ is this sweater like too grandma-y or do you think it would look cute as a little cropped situation ? and you can’t tell me you’re not qualified to answer because i need all and any options before i wear this to teach tomorrow. ” ( @villagestarters ! )

so , charli is the younger sister of gabriel dombrova so a lot of their ( detailed ) family background can be found in this into ! to sum , charlotte was born in debham , mass. and the dombrova family has historical links to the town. their parents were incredibly old school republicans , very religious and wanted to keep their family name up to parr with the highest standards.
charlotte was always the apple of their dads eye –– he held her to incredibly high standards , but he also favored her over her brother. she was treated like a princess , opposed to his harsher treatment. that said , charli grew up incredibly spoiled. she could get pretty much whatever she wanted but at the same time , was expected to be the highest standard she possibly could be. charli had a lot of pressure on her shoulders about being the best in everything she did.
being spoiled was good , at times , but other times charli couldn’t seem to get out from under the thumb of her father. all of her life was closely monitored to ensure that his princess was fully under his standards of how she should be. it was incredibly draining and exhausting for her , but she dealt with it for the longest time.
much like her brother , charli focused very heavily on education. first , she was incredibly smart and second , she loved education. it was nice to throw herself into ap classes , honors class , extracurricular , because it pleased her dad but also kept her incredibly busy. charli pretty quickly decided that she wanted to get into the field of education and more specifically , focus on how skilled she was in mathematics.
that said , charli thought that her dad would be proud of her for her career choice , but the dombrova father felt that mathematics wasn’t a very lady like career , and it impacted charli’s decision of going to college.
despite her dad’s view , she continued her pursuit and didn’t wait very long to endure her masters degree. first , she worked as a 6th grade math teacher and she just this august started her first courses as a college mathematics professor. though her dad wasn’t pleased , he was pleased at the salary that she ensures while in this career.
aside from all the family background , charli has been living at the village for a heavy six year , give or take. she moved out after she started college because her dad advised her not to dorm –– of course , and she’s lived there ever since. after his marriage ended , her brother lived with her for a while and it really helped her realized how much she wanted to disconnect from their parents.
recently , she’s really been getting a bigger taste of freedom and she really enjoys it.

she has a kind heart but she doesn’t always know how to use it.

she’s only been in love once and done went and fucked that up all on her own.
she hates being flirted with ?? like she doesn’t hate it , but she usually doesn’t respond very well to it

felix was very much born into nothing. he was born to a single mom who wasn’t ready to raise a son and was out every night doing who knows what , so he basically raised himself.
very much has a rough upbringing , lived in a small trailer and didn’t have anything to his name.
the only thing that really made him happy was art. he always had paper and pencil and would spend hours and hours perfecting his artwork
i feel like he had a teacher that really kept him grounded , once he hit high school i feel like he ditched home and would just couch hop or sleep on benches locally and his teacher would make sure he ate.
once he hit 18 , he wandered into a tattoo shop with $150 and the desire to feel something
he ended up making friends with the shop owner there who was 10+ years older than him and saw something in this lonely , broken kid.
after seeing his work , he offered felix an apprenticeship and a place to stay , a small apartment over the shop.
that’s when felix ditched his name and started going by fox.
after working his way up, he ended up taking over the shop –– his mentor signed the rights over to him because he wanted his shop to be in good hands.
after getting the shop , fox moved into the village , so the shop has been under his ownership for about a year and it’s running super smoothly.
𝓹𝓮𝓻𝓼𝓸𝓷𝓪𝓵𝓲𝓽𝔂.
for his background , fox is actually a pretty decent dude. he’s blunt and a bit harsh , but he has a really nice smile and has gotten better at using it.
he’s super honest. he’s got nothing to hide and doesn’t understand why people lie.
generally closed off when it comes to personal relationships , he just doesn’t trust people.
he tells sarcastic but somehow pretty funny jokes.
has dad humor.
𝓱𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓸𝓷𝓼.
he is quite literally covered in tattoos and it’s a Look , let me tell you.
he’s never been in a serious relationship
he has one friend that’s been his friend since they were in high school , i might make this a wc
he used to be super shy but has since blossomed and isn’t afraid to open his big , loud mouth
is incredibly good at flirting but only if he’s NOT trying to flirt.
hey y’all , so i really just wasn’t feeling my muse for lachlan so i decided to completely start over. i’m a pain in the ass , i know. but i’m also really feeling my new muses , so as i work on their intros please let me know if you wanna plot !
