(Y/n) gave a sigh as she put her head in her arms using them as a pillow. She had been a port mafia for years...
She would have to say far too many years.
She had joined a few years ago due to a squabble between the port mafia and a hospital that paid protection fees, one that she happened to be a part of. She had the choice of joining the port mafia or being killed.
Given the fact she was here clearly answered that question didn’t it?
It wasn’t all bad for a time.
One of the executives, Dazai had taken a liking to her. She had also taken a liking in the Mafia member, not that anyone could blame her. He was handsome, confident, cold and heartless but also managed to be a giant good ball. He was always sweet and gentle with her, but then he could go to cruel and heartless in a moment to anyone else. It was terrifying.... but at the same time sexy.
Then one day he simply disappeared. He didn’t say a word to (Y/n), or anyone else. She was heavily questioned about his whereabouts but they left her alone about it after they realized she really didn’t know where he disappeared to. She thought maybe he had gone on a top-secret mission.
That was what she had hoped.
“Maybe one of his suicide attempts were successful...” (Y/n) commented tearing up a little. She should have been happy for him, she had talked about suicide numerous times, maybe even having a double suicide... “I should have taken his offer...” she muttered as she tried not to burst into tears.
Everyone thought of her as lower class, she did have the ability but it wasn’t all that powerful. It could heal very light wounds like scratches and bruises but not much else.
Sorta useless when the wounds tended to be large gunshots or something more fatal.
Dazai always kept her protected. No one dared touch his Princess.
Now that protection was gone. No one had any reason to respect her and well, they didn’t. She couldn’t blame them... But she could still be fairly bitter about it.
“I just can’t wait to get home...”
On the walk, it seemed fairly normal... Until I started to walk past a river that ran through Yokohama.
I looked at the water giving a small sigh but smiled, admiring the light flicker off the water. I jumped off the path landing in the sand before walking over. It brought back so many memories.
“Why... do you love me?” I asked looking up at Mafia executive who looked down at me with his one uncovered eye. He gave a grin and rustled my hair a little bit.
“Why wouldn’t I? You are... an anchor,” he said making her tilt her head. He gave a sigh and wrapped his arms around her. “You... keep me stable, you are gentle enough to differ from everyone else in the mafia, yet I know what you could be...” he muttered as he held her close.
“I still can’t seem to figure you out, Dazai...” I noted as I looked into the river.
Then I noticed something odd.
A pair of legs drifting down the river.
I tilted my head to the side before speaking, “What!?” Should I do something? I was a part of the mafia... Saving someone stupid enough to fall into the river was none of my business.
I gave a gasp as I dragged the man onto the bank of the river. I wasn’t even that good of a swimmer. I finally looked at the man and gave a loud gasp.
“No... No way....” I covered my mouth tears welling up in my eyes. I suddenly noticed he wasn’t breathing. I looked around. I was a former nurse! I know what to do here. I started to pump his chest and breath into his mouth before keeping up the chest compressions.
Soon the man coughed up the water gasping. He sat up opening his eyes. He looked around showing his beautiful eyes.
It really was him. I tackled him down in a hug.
“Osamu,” I whispered into his shoulder. I felt his arms slowly wrap around me before making the hug bone crushing. I felt wetness roll down my face. Dazai moved me back and wiped the tears away. Was I really crying? “I-I missed you... I-I missed you so much...” I said. He cupped my cheeks.
“I know... I missed you too...” he said as he gently rubbed my cheek.
“DAZAI!!! WE ARE THREE MINUTES LATE FOR THIS MEETING!!!” a male yelled jumping down off the cliff. He looked at me before glaring at Dazai.
“Kunikida, meet my girlfriend, (Y/n),” Dazai introduced. Kunikida muttered something under his breath.
“Let’s just go, she can come along,” he said. Dazai nodded and picked me up bridal style both of us now dripping wet.
“Dazai... where do you work?” I asked. The former port mafia member gave a nervous
“Oh you’ll see,” he said looking away nearly nervously.
I looked at the building and gasped, I have never seen it in person but have seen many pictures of it. Kunikida gave me an odd look before he entered.
“Your kidding,” I said. He shook his head.
“I will explain everything... Just... wait on the couch and I will tell you at my place OK?” he asked. I looked at him slightly doubtfully but nodded my head.
“Ok...” she gave a sigh as he placed her down, both walking up the steps.
“So... What questions do you have?” Dazai questioned as I held a cup of tea in my hand. I gave a sigh.
“Why did you leave?” I knew the basic, Odasaku, a close friend of his died. I didn’t get to talk to him very much. Our work just never intersected. Plus, the bar was more of the thing Dazai liked to do with his guy friends, so I never really joined...
But his death alone seemed like an odd reason to leave. Dazai gave a sigh.
He explained everything that happened the few days leading up to and the day of Odasuka’s death, the picture, Ango’s betrayal, The what happened to the to the orphanage kids he had taken in, the confrontation with Mori, and Odasuka’s last moments with him. (Y/n) felt a pit in her stomach as she swallowed hard.
A silence filled the air, she didn’t know what to or what to say.
“I... I am so sorry,” she said. He shook his head putting a hand on her cheek.
“There was nothing you could have done...” Dazai said.
After a few more moments of silence, the suicidal manic spoke again.
“I know I didn’t take you with me... It is much harder to hide two people from the mafia than a single person,” he explained. I nodded my head... I should be angry... but I couldn’t bring myself to be. He had been through so much. Being angry now wouldn’t do any good...
“... Can... I join you here now? I-I don’t want to put you in d-danger but...” Dazai cupped my cheeks nodding his head, a smirk on his face.
“I have people who can protect you, I don’t need to stay in the shadows...” he pulled me into a passionate, long-awaited kiss. The only thing that broke it was my need for air...
We all know Dazai would have loved to have died this way.
“I am so happy to have you back....”
“Me too, (Y/n), me too...”
A/N: Well that was shitty. Hope you guys liked it anyway.
