Not a request, but more of a question, do you plan to convert your Accessory tops to the base layer category instead of gloves? Just so I know if I should keep tabs on this page or not. I don't see your posts often because of time difference so I could easily miss it if you do.
I do plan to update them but probably not any time soon, sorry. I have a loooong list of other cc things I need to do/fix but I'm trying to focus on recolours atm because that's really all I have the energy for.
In the meantime though, they should be fairly easy to change yourself if you have Sims 4 Studio. Open the files in S4S, click on Categories tab on the right (underneath the colour palette), and then at the very top of that tab, change Outfit Type from 'Gloves' to 'Base Layer'.
Then click "Apply to all swatches", save and you're done. There's more I need to do to them to update them properly but if you just want to switch them into the Base Layer category that's all you need to do 😊
Well that took WAY longer than I was expecting. Between health issues, family visiting and almost 2000 files to create and then messing up half of those and having to redo them... its been a journey and a half but it's finally done!

I know it's been a minute since I made the post announcing I was redoing the Sandwich palettes into gradients and reuploading recolours of all the hairs, and I'm sorry about that.
There were some issues with medications and I was (and still am) dealing with nerve pain BUT I've been working on the base game recolours the whole time, just doing a few hairs whenever I've been able to... and then I got about halfway through and realised I had forgotten to tag the hair colours properly (they were all tagged as 'neutral blonde') so I have to go back and fix all those, but ya'll there are almost 1000 files so... yeh, it's taking a while.
Oh and for the people who have asked about eyebrows, facial hair, and body hair: yes, they will be done, after the hairs most likely. And yes the Bouncy recolours also need some updates as well, I'll get to them too.
Basically I just wanted to let you guys know I haven't abandoned the project and they will be released in the near future... Just please bare with me, I'm old and falling apart 😊
Quick question! Would you be willing to release the Sandwich Gradient actions publicly so we--the community--can start to recolor CC or clothing or other things with them while you handle the other EA hairs, the way you did the original actions? Perfectly cool if not, was just wondering!
Of course! That was always the plan, to release them around the same time as the base game recolours... but the plan kind of went off the rails very quickly.
I know I keep saying "eventually" for everything, and trust me, that's even more frustrating for me than it is very everyone else. I wish I could just do the things I wanna do but my traitorous body apparently has other ideas and I'm dealing with a lot of nerve pain and medication issues atm.
So unfortunately I can't give a timeframe of when "eventually" will be but hopefully soon, hopefully before the end of the month 🤞
I updated my recolour WIP page so you can keep track of what hair recolours I've done in what palettes if you want. I'll try to keep it updated as I work on recolours but the chances of me forgetting the page even exists are HIGH, so just bare with me 🙂
Side note: Updating that page made me realise how freakin many packs there are... and how much money I've spent on this game 😬
@northernnightsky I was gonna explain in the comments but it's probably easier to understand if I can show you too lol
So when I first started recolouring using my Sandwich palettes, I was using a combination of 5 different layers for each colour; the first (background) layer was the original hair texture, the second was a colour fill layer set to 'soft light', the third was a copy of the background layer but set to 'screen', the fourth was a second colour fill layer set to 'multiply', and the fifth was yet another copy of the background layer but this time set to 'soft light. I was also using EA's 'white' swatch as a base for all recolours. It looked like this:
But just about every hair and every swatch needed adjustments to get the colour right, so I had to do them one by one for every hair. It was VERY time consuming, even more so when you factor in that all 3 sandwich palettes have 75 swatches and I had to import all of those swatches one by one into Sims 4 Studio as well.
But now, with gradients, it's A LOT quicker. I have one gradient per swatch that's made up of 3 tones of the same colour, like this:
Each colour looks different, some have more than 3 tones of the colour but that's the general idea; it's just one gradient per colour swatch. Then all I have to do is apply those gradients as a gradient map and boom, done!
Only one extra layer to deal with and no messing around with layer blending options or anything. And it's easier to get the exact colour I want with gradients. I also use the 'Neutral Blonde' texture as a base now as well (which didn't exist when I first started recolouring), because the shadows and highlights on it are usually better than the 'White' texture.
Sometimes I will have to adjust the brightness of the original texture if it's too dark or too light (because EA are not at all consistent with their texturing 🙄) but other than that, it's just a single layer. I'm even able to set up an action to do every single colour gradient all at once that also saves them to a folder on my desktop within literal seconds! And thanks to Sims 4 Studio adding the 'Import All' option, the whole process is even quicker!
Also I dunno if you can tell, but the shadows and highlights on the gradient recoloured hair are A LOT better than with the layers. On the layer recolouring the highlights look very blown out, almost non-existent, and the shadows are too dark and kind of... dirty looking? So that's another plus for gradients imo.

Since I switched from using my Bouncy! palette I've gotten A LOT of messages from people saying they prefer the old Sandwich palettes and asking if I can continue recolours with the Sandwich palettes, or failing that, could I reupload the old files.

Previously I didn't have plans to do any of that, for a lot of reasons but the main reason being that I no longer have any of those files. Some were lost when I bought a new PC last year and I somehow lost a bunch of my CC files in the transfer, and the rest I simply deleted because I don't use them any longer and wanted to free up space on my hard drive.
BUT
Recently I was officially diagnose with ADHD (long suspected it but finally have an official diagnosis) and started on some new meds which I think are working and I'm trying to take advantage of my new ability to focus somewhat normally. Half of that focus is going into playing around with the 3D printer I was given as an early birthday present, but if you've ever used a 3D printer before you'll know there's a lot of waiting time lol So I've been trying to find something to occupy me while I wait for 15 hour prints to finish... and that's where the Sandwich palette comes in!
I had to redownload my own palettes lol but then I spent a full day converting all three Sandwich palettes into gradients and I plan to start with base game and recolour ALL the hairs in those palettes all over again, purely for the people who prefer them!
Just a few things to note about the updated palettes...
Because they're gradients now, some colours are a little different because it was almost impossible for me to get EXACTLY the same colours with a gradient than I did with layers. Here's an example:
But others I purposely changed them to better match the original palette swatches. They were supposed to be the same colour as the swatches from the very beginning and its always bothered me that some of them weren't, so I fixed that. The biggest changes that were made were to the naturals and neutrals palette. Here's an example from the naturals palette:
I personally think the changes are better than the originals but if you prefer to keep the old files that's fine too, just know that you won't be able to use both the new and old files at the same time, and I won't be updating any new hairs with the old ones or offering support for them if they break in the future.
All that being said, a TLDR if you will: expect to see some updated Sandwich Palette recolours coming for all EA hairs in the very near future! Not all at once though, I'm not a machine lol
