She couldn’t help but giggle at that. “Same here Wili! It really would’ve been nice!”
Layla nodded. “Yes, it’s here. Thank you for accompanying me Wili! Um…” She paused, giving Wili a cautious glance. “You sure you’ll be okay by yourself? You looked pretty scared back there…”
"Yeah, yeah, I'll be fine!" He said as he looked over his shoulders. "Thanks for stickin' with me!"
"Hey, if we run into each other again, we should hang again, okay?"

"Ah thank you." Layla said, beaming.
"And exactly! I’m not even sure what started this whole rivalry feud! Did you know that this island once used to be very peaceful? But now… it’s just a mess." She sighed in frustration. "But I like the way you think Wili. If only others could see it that way too!"
They made another turn, the grass tribe not too far away now. Layla was careful not to make any loud noise now that they were edging nearer.
"Yeah, I heard about that!" He quickly got lost in thought, imagining ancient times on the island. "I wish I coulda lived back then, when everyone was cool with everyone else. Then I could kick it with cool Grass tribe chicks like you!"
He started noticing a few houses blending into the forest landscape. "Looks like we here now, yeah?"

She made sure to keep her pace steady beside him. “I believe that just because we’re from rival tribes, that doesn’t mean I should be rude or hostile to you!” Layla smiled. “These little fights are so… silly you know? What do you think Wili?”
A huge grin spread across his face. "I like you, Layla. You're smart, y'know?"
He nodded to himself and looked up at the sky as they walked. He could see the stars past the trees. "Everybody on this island... don't matter what tribe. We all one people, ya know? No use in fighting. Bruddah against bruddah is no good. That's what I think."

"Oh! Are you sure?" Layla noted how he looked a little scared and opted to go with him. "Well okay! We can both keep each other company and fight off that demon if she decides to show up again!"
She began to lead the way back to her tribe, making sure he wasn’t falling behind. “Oh and my name is Layla! Sorry I didn’t introduce myself before. Yours is?”
He let out a sigh of relief, glad that his genius plan worked out so well. "Sounds like a good plan, little cuz!" He laced his fingers behind his head, relaxing as they walked.
"Oh yeah, I'm Wili!" He walked a bit faster so that they were walking side by side. "So you Grass tribe, yeah? How come you so nice to me? Usually most from da Grass or Fire are real nasty."

"Oh me?" Layla laughed sheepishly. "I was going to get some last minute supplies but well…I should have known the shops would be closed by now!" She scratched the back of head with embarrassment.
"It’s a good thing I ran into you though! I’m glad nothing bad happened to you."
He nodded. "Yeah cuz, I was just goin' for a walk, didn't mean to get out this far." He laughed and shook his head. "I didn't mean to run into a demon either, but I guess you can't control some stuff, yeah?"
He bit his lip and scanned the area quickly, worried that the demon might come back. "M-maybe I should walk you back home.. Y'know, so you're safe!"

Oh what a relief, he’s back to normal.
"A demon?" Layla furrowed her brows in worry and fear. "I’ve never heard of such a thing…" She looked back at him. "A-are you all right though? Did she hurt you?" Layla glanced at him quickly, not seeing any major wounds or bruises. "Whatever that was, I hope it doesn’t come back."
"Nah, she didn't do anythin to me. Just scared me real good." He laughed it off, finally starting to feel okay.
"I hope she wont come back.. But she said somethin about.. makin' a new world. Dunno what that meant, but I hope we don't find out." He shrugged and pushed himself up off of the tree.
"What about you, sis? It's late, whatchu doin' out here?"

It wasn’t unusual for Layla to go to the marketplace for last minute supplies. However she should have known that they’d be all closed by now. Sighing to herself she started to turn to leave when she heard a piercing shriek in the dead of night. Layla stopped in her tracks, eyes scanning the dark area. Suddenly it wasn’t a very good idea to be alone in the empty market place.
Layla head the scream again and her eyes landed on a man screaming about, his eyes looking frenzy and hectic. Without thinking, she ran up to him and grabbed him by the arm, worry in her tone.
"Sir are you all right?" She hoped she could knock sense into him.
Wili stopped yelling when Layla grabbed him. Instead, he was quiet, with a fearful look in his eyes. "Are.. are you real?" He looked her over quickly, and saw nothing suspicious. And the chilling feeling that he had earlier was gone now. He relaxed a bit.
"Nah, sis I ain't all right. I don't think nobody is.." He let out a sigh and leaned backwards against the nearest tree. "Der's a monster out there. A demon, she said." He shook his head, trying to rid his thoughts of that evil witch. "She can look like anybody, and she made everytin feel like I should be afraid. Like I could die any second.."

Ixqa spoke in her natural voice but retained the appearance of Percival’s body.
As she spoke these words, the temperature in the air drastically dropped and the forest took an even more wicked tone than before. Time appeared to stop for an instant as she delivered these unholy words.
"I am the demon that exists in the deepest regions of your mind. I am the supreme manifestation of terror, death, and malice. I am the entity that will usher in the new world order."
With a cruel smirk on her face, Ixqa (still in the form of Percival) was engulfed in darkness and vanished before Wili’s eyes.
Wili was frozen in terror for a moment before he screamed at the top of his lungs. He quickly got up and ran as fast as his feet could take him. He stumbled a few times, and he didn't know where he was even going, but he didn't stop.
He reached the market place, still screaming, and most likely waking up all of the villagers in the middle of the night.

She turned to look at Wili, with a grin on her face that didn’t look right. She then spoke but her voice drastically lowered in pitch mid sentence until it sounded exactly like that of Percival.
"Make my voice sound like what? Like this?"
Upon saying the word this Moana’s body rippled in a similar manner to water and transformed into Percival in the blink of an eye.
"Wili, are you alright?" Ixqa smirked with even more sinister intensity than before.
Wili quickly backed away from what was now Percy, falling backwards, and crawling away, never taking his eyes off of her. "Wh-who are you?" He stammered. "WHAT are you?!"

Ixqa’s silhouette was seen jumping out of the tree branches but disappeared in the darkness. A light thud was heard when she landed on the ground. Footsteps could be heard in the distance, but the only thing visible was darkness.
A figure appeared out from the darkness, and it was none other than Moana, with a cheerful grin on her face.
"Looks like I scared ya there, aye Whitewater?"
He laughed and punched her lightly on her arm. "Shoots, surfer girl! Scared me half to death!" He wrapped and arm around her neck and laughed.
"How'd you make your voice sound like that? That was crazy, sis." He let out a sigh, still getting over the shock.

Ixqa smirked. “It’s always a pleasure to instill fear in a grown man.”
She turned her face towards Wili, some of her features were visible in the moonlight.
"You mean you don’t know by now? What a misfortune, since you will soon be made well aware."
Wili slowly took a deep breath in, and then out. "Hey sis, why don't you get outta dat tree?" He forced a laugh, trying to calm himself down. "It'd be easier ta talk!"
He crossed his arms and tried to make out her face, as if she were someone he met a long time ago, and he were trying to remember her. "And cut da creepy crap!"

She spoke again in her typical sinister tone.
"Oh Wili, don’t bother playing brave, I can smell the fear seeping out from beneath your skin."
Ixqa then faded into sight, she was sitting on a tree branch with her back against the trunk, with her right leg horizontally folded and the left in a vertical position. Her left arm was casually resting on the top of her left knee. She wasn’t even looking at Wili, her glance was eerily set straight ahead of her.
"I find this facade that you’re putting on rather amusing."
"Yeah, yeah.. fine.." He said said shakily. "So I'm shittin' my shorts, who cares?"
He backed up a bit so that he could get a better look at this mysterious woman. It was no use, though. The moon was behind her, shrouding the woman entirely in shadows. "Who are you?"

The atmosphere of the forest suddenly took a more eerie tone. It was almost as if there were eyes in the trees, and they were all watching Wili. Ixqa was not visible, but her voice was clearly audible and its source could not be immediately traced.
"Wilipeleke, the Walrein of Tangata. What a pleasant surprise. What brings you to this part of the forest?”
"Who's there?!" Wili spun around, trying to see every corner of the forest. As he turned, he felt a chill go down his spine, and it had nothing to do with the fact that he was only wearing shorts.
"How you know mah name, cousin? Show yourself!!" He called out, trying to act brave.

Wili huffed and pushed himself off his hammock. The waters had been calm all day, so he hadn't caught a wave in far too long. Even though it was late in the night, Wili was bursting with energy.
"Shoots, brah I can't sit still no more." He muttered to himself as he wandered off of Wai Beach and into the forest, following the path laid out for him by the bits of moon light that peeked through the trees.
Uila grinned. “This should be fun. I haven’t been to the market since becoming chief.”
"Oh yeah?" He picked up his surf board and started walking off in the direction of the market. "Why not? It's always interestin' out there."
"The ghost tribe has a librarian who might - MIGHT - have records of anyone else who might be connected enough to have experienced the event in the way you witnessed. And I’m sure she’d like to record our accounts of it for her records as well." He sighed, wishing he had an account of the event besides the blank space.
"The best place to seek her out would be the Market. Would you like to accompany me? Or would it be too much to ask to tear you away from the waves?"
"Nah, brah!" He stood up and dusted the sand off his trunks. "I been surfin' all day, and the waves'll be here when I get back." He held out his hand to Ulia to help him up. "Besides, I'm the only one that remembers anytin." He snickered. "You ain't gonna be much help."
Uila eyed Wili. Walrus… before, after, and during. He suspected that would never change, though he barely knew the young man.
"That is the conundrum my friend. Aside from meditation I know of only one other person who might have access to records that might give us a lead. And beyond that, I’m sure stories will surface soon enough - if indeed someone else was affected by the event in the same way."
"Hm?" He tilted his head. "Who's that? Can we go see 'em?"
He thought for a few moments of who else they could go to. "Ahh, this is hard, Heki.. I guess whoever's close with spirits like you is, cuz.. But I can't think of nobody.."
