Alright, here we are. It’s about time I acknowledge that New Years is actually my favorite holiday because this yearly tumblr post has a chokehold on me. Some of these are resolutions that end up on the list every year but thats because I get so close and just run out of time. 2025 was a good year - my dad beat cancer for the second time, I finished my masters degree with a 4.0 GPA (and debt free), I visited three European countries (and will be looking for any opportunities to revisit Paris), and I got pregnant! Some of these things were on my 2023 resolutions list and it just wasn’t their time then.

There is a theme to this year’s list and it’s less big goal oriented and more daily habit oriented. Why? Impending parenthood. My husband and I have talked a lot about the time of home we want to raise our son in, and that is a peaceful one. This requires us to address our trauma (him) and stressors (me) so we can be emotionally stable parents.

In 2025, I bought all the language learning books and brushed up on my grammar but with a baby on the way and our profound want for him to be bilingual, I had reframed the resolution to be immersion instead of simply learning. In this vein, we want to baptize our baby in the name of tradition - not religion. We’re more spiritual than we are religious but we learned that in order to baptize, we must be members of a church 🙃 so for the first time in almost a decade, I am church shopping. I also realized that I haven’t bought myself clothing (other than the occasional maternity item) in over a year and that is just me failing to meet my own basic human needs.

The big one is 1000 hours outside instead of online. We want to raise our son without screens and I’m not about hypocrisy in this house. So the reading, coloring, and time outdoors is meant to fill up my downtime with healthier habits than doomscrolling. I also bought a sourdough kit. This will include setting screen time limits on my own phone to keep be accountable as well as recording how much time I spend outside on the 1000 Hours Outdoors app. I am currently writing this blog post on my patio.

5. Fix body damage on car

Another year has come and gone. This one was traumatic at the start and by the end, I was managing too much personal change to give energy away so freely to the Trump administration. I’m currently on a flight to a layover in DC and the flight attendant said 25 minutes ago that we would be landing in 15 minutes. So with only 7 hours left in 2025, here is a year in review as it relates to my resolutions.

1. I read 7 books.

2. I did not go to therapy 🤷🏽‍♀️

3. I went one full year without bleaching my hair. This was hard because the calico vibes were calling my name but then I got pregnant… so it’ll be 18 months without bleaching by the time I see any blonde in my hair again.

4. I bought fan pulls, key hooks, and fancy flower seeds on Etsy this year.

5. I bought a new car instead of fixing my old one. I drew the line at replacing the door handle.

6. I didn’t even attempt to cook through a cookbook.

I’m calling this 3.5/6 resolutions for 2025. I’m not mad at it given that for the last 19 weeks, I’ve been effectively out of commission. I’ll see you tomorrow for the 2026 resolutions. ✌🏼

I'm italian and there's something that people defending this shit don't fucking understand.

they think the “Roman salute” is something unrelated to nazis or fascists but the “Roman Salute” IS the fascist salute. It's not a different concept, it's the same thing!! It's not "good" because it doesn't have the word "nazi" in it, It's the same shit.

And to people saying "He is throwing out his heart to the crowd" tell me if YOU would do it at a 45 degree angle with your thumb tucked in and your fingers closed together. Personally, a throwing motion in my imagination has your palm completely open and your fingers spaced out

Regardless, This is what propaganda is, They do bad thing and then they say "no it good actually" and the population goes "Ok then it's all good" it's not all good, They're making you think it is. It sucks

Politicians gain power through the Ignorance of the people, don't trust people just because "They said it"
