no amount of assumption and anticipation could’ve prepared him for the inquiry. of course, he himself was partially at fault. he set himself up for this knowing full well that his association with someone like tohru would garner the attention of those closest to her. perhaps that included this kid as well. quickly, the ox turns on his heel, dipping down to address the inquisitive dark presence that bore through to the back of his head with so much as a single glance. ❝ no… i’m not, but if she’s hanging out with me, then she’s safe. that’s all that matters. any reason why you ask ? ❞
