Lydia’s real father is a hunter and he left the family when she was little and her mother remarried. Lydia has always known about this, and is why she is more sassy towards her step-father than her mother. Her father finds out about her semi-blossoming relationship with Peter Hale, who knows all about how he can be and tries to put a stop to it. 

Peter of course doesn’t listen and her father goes face to face with him, letting him know he was with her last night and this is his final warning to stay away from his daughter, no matter if he loves her or not.
