“You think?” It was a relief that Eiji didn’t disagree. “When I decide to go look, you’re coming with me.” He mostly just wanted an excuse to spend time with his brother but going to pick out a cute pet together was as good a reason as any. And maybe Eiji would have fun too.

“I’d love too! Maybe I’ll find one as well... Who knows.” He chuckled and nodded. He looked up at his brother. “I’ll be sure to make time! Just let me know!”

Giving a small pause, a wide smile soon crossed her features. Of course, introductions! It was an even exchange: another song for a name. It was almost romantic in a way. Already a story was storming in her mind relating just the mere thought!

“Of course! My name is Anne Shirley-Cuthbert,” the redhead announced as she stood up, hands brushing the skirt of her dress off. “Anne, with an e, if you please. I do terribly hate it when my name is misspelled. It happens ever so frequent,” Anne rambled slightly before focusing on the brunet. “And might I have a name in return? I still would love to hear another song!”

“Eiji Otori.” He smiled and bowed a bit at her. “I know how names being misspelled can be. And another song.....” He pondered for a moment before nodding. He took a deep breathe before he began.

“What if I got a cat for a pet someday?” Not right now obviously since he hadn’t even been able to find work yet, and he wanted to be able to properly support a pet… Plus, when everyone else was busy it’d still give him a companion, for days he felt alone but didn’t want to be a bother.

And maybe Otoya would like having a pet too, at least whenever he was visiting or staying with Eiichi in the Golden ward’s apartment building.

Anne herself was very much a fan of nature, and had found herself a park of a variety of plants, flowers, trees. It reminded her back of the greenery in Green Gables, so she felt quite at home. She was lost in thought, in her own world, situated in some underbrush. She might turn this into another hideout to continue her writing, just like back at home.

Adorned with a makeshift flower crown, the redhead peered through some bushes to spot a brunet singing to himself upon hearing some noise. It was quiet, so she couldn’t quite make out the words clearly and she waited until he was done before speaking.

“That was quite lovely! Could you perhaps sing another song?”

Eiji jumped up a bit in surprise when he heard the other speak. He hadn’t heard her approach, but once he saw he gave a small smile. “I wouldn’t mind, can I have a name first?” He asked, tilting his head at her.

“Hm…” He moved to pull Eiji against his side once he’d properly sat down beside him, as well as moving a hand to grasp at his again firmly. “You deserve it.” He said after a moment, kiss placed to the side of Eiji’s head lightly. “I’m also… really happy to be affectionate with you like this.” And he’d never have let him work through his birthday, when he had plans to make his day as good as he possibly could.

Eiji chuckled and nodded. “I am enjoying this too.... We wouldn’t be able to do this back at home...” he said, leaning to rest his head against the other’s shoulder. “It’s... nice.”

Tokiya’s hands pressed firmly against Eiji’s lower back and remained there, holding their bodies close. Kiss held for a moment longer as his lips moved lightly and deliberately against his boyfriend’s, closed eyes opening shortly after he moved back a bit.

“You’re welcome.” He kept his tone soft, not wanting to take away from the current atmosphere. “You looked like you needed that…” He added as he gently moved his hands to massage carefully against his back where they’d rested, trying for a soothing gesture. “Shall we go sit?”

“That... sounds like a good idea.” He smiled and lead the other to sit down. Once they had, Eiji leaned back and let out a sigh. “...This is... much nicer than I thought it would be, to be honest.” He had been prepared to spend his birthday working all day.

It was nice to just be able to relax and do this, all of the affection something Tokiya had been craving for a while. And now that they were facing each other, he took the moment to press his lips gingerly against Eiji’s. He also hoped it’d help him feel better, maybe serve as a distraction in a brief moment. Though he murmured, “Happy birthday, angel.” Through the kiss as well.

Eiji blushed as the other pulled him close and kissed him, causing him to close his eyes and kiss back. His blush deepened when the other spoke through the kiss, causing him to whisper a small “Thank you” in response.

“We don’t have to.” He moved a hand to squeeze Eiji’s gently, twining their fingers together as he felt his boyfriend leaning into him more. Their own ward was unfortunately where those very celebrations were taking place, and navigating the crowds would be hard… “I think you should stay here for now… I’ll go later with you when you send out your lantern though.” He offered.

But they really shouldn’t think too hard on this, he figured, not right now. It was supposed to be a happy moment through everything.

“Turn around to look at me.” He prompted, hold loosening.

Eiji nodded before turning his face to look at him, his body following until he could comfortably wrap his arms around Tokiya. “....Now what?” He asked, tilting his head slightly.

Tokiya’s expression may have soured briefly, right, Raging was probably at fault for that… Tokiya wished he’d been able to give Eiji this freedom sooner himself. But it wasn’t so easy. Still, he should take advantage of it while they’re here. His arms moved to wrap more around Eiji’s middle now, holding him close against his chest.

“Anything you want… I’ll do anything for you.” He said quietly, a few light kisses pressed to the small patch of exposed skin on the other’s shoulder, trailed up against his neck in something of a tease, and finally a proper kiss placed to Eiji’s cheek. Just simple affection seemed nice for now.

“I don’t have anything planned, aside from the dinner…” Which he’d wanted to do as a chance to have a romantic meal, satisfied that it seemed to have been successful. “But it’s okay to take it easy, too.” Maybe going out would be too much on Eiji in such a new situation to him… Especially since solemn festivities were still going on.

“I think I’d rather... stay here for today.” He didn’t want to think of the festivities right now. Not when he still felt responsible for... He let out a sigh. “.... Or go somewhere that... isn’t celebrating...” He added. “I’ll be sending a lantern out later but.... Not right now.” He added, closing his eyes as he leaned moreso into the other.
